  1. go to church for christenings, funerals, weddings. Thats it, I am happy to respect other peoples religions and their views and i am comfortable with it. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that you make your own fate. Surely if Skyhucks life had been planned by a greater power he could still be a JW? Purely as an example. Ddint christmas come from the pagans anyway?
  2. This way works well for me
  3. you should get a certificate of conformity with your kit, if not, gustharts should have it. That lasts for 6 months till your first LOLER inspection.
  4. Looks a bit suspect. I thought heartwood was meant to be fixed to rings, not looking like decay breaking through them?
  5. i thought merip was the two rings in the centre? the black staining is from that metal i 'discovered' there was no gano on this tree, could it just be that its not fruited?
  6. it put me off completely! i had just sharpened that chain too, it was my 3rd cut and then i saw sparks.
  7. im gonna hijack your thread and show what i found in some wood! with the 36"bar it appears to be an iron downspout bracket! long time occluded too!
  8. meripilus and something else on beech, not sure what is causing the black demarcation lines, my first thought could be kretzschmaria deusta? this section of wood was part way up the stem, cant remember exactly!
  9. It's your fault everyone's confused!
  10. David, I don't mean to a pain but those figures show that London has 50% green cover, which seems a little high. Considering the itree Eco figures show that Torbay only has 11% tree cover and that's a considerably green city. A class discussion in urban forestry with Mark Johnston pointed out the flaw in those results.
  11. I'm on small stretch airs and they fall off my waist! I use a belt and have no issues, might try those braces one day!
  12. nice vid, enjoyed watching that! what songs are those you used?
  13. did you find that in an uncomfortable way by any chance?
  14. The old 'I like trees, but...' That would make a nice repollard. Say you will leave it as a high stem and try and accidentally on purpose leave a couple of sap risers.
  15. As said before, if the dbh is greater than 75mm at 1.5m then it is covered by the CA rules. Regardless of species.
  16. yeah i had seen them in rainford, thats where i know the firm from, never figured out their company name until now.
  17. im sure their yard is close to me, they have the yellow hilux and big old 4x4 with a crane dont they? Thoughts to those affected, never nice news.
  18. no more than 20% total volume of crown imo.
  19. i like that set of shots for that oak david, very well managed IMO! perfect for the situation and i like the ways the cuts are done to induce the appearance of a failure
  20. im close to finishing the Bsc at myerscough, i did the fdsc before this and found it very good, i came from a BTEC in business and no real knowledge of trees onto it and i have found it hard at some points but very worthwhile!
  21. i was thinking that but i wouldnt go that far, id turn the stem into a carving!
  22. It will be a shame to see an oak like that go, but that's nature! Would have been an awesome tree before its decline. Do you think complete removal is the only option?
  23. Tonight, I'm going to toss so hard that it sticks to the ceiling. I love pancake day.
  24. i think that hawk i posted could be agoshawk, its 7 months old i was told and apparently was treated badly by its first owners so still has light feathers. How much is right im not too sure with birds! heres a few from my out and abouts and some from home! birds int' bath, tit on a stick, a biiig sea eagle from edinburgh zoo and a penguin that doesnt look too pleased.
