  2. i thought it could have been! i assumed it was a Biggus turdicus!
  3. after a bit of reading it is not a bacterium, but a eukaryote, i think ive got it mixed with Pseudomonas sp. as they are bacterial.
  4. youve got Fistulina in the first oak, with the first signs of bulging on the near buttress and i. dryadeus causing a thinning of the wall and has prompted the oak to react to this thus causing the swelling butt
  5. the phaeolus pine where we all had to get on shoulders for a shot of the FB? the little site its in seems familiar. i cant wait to see it My first thoughts are i. dryadeus? the swell on that butt looks similar to others ive seen. the other oak is ther f.h. in attendance? early stages perhaps? cant really make much out. could be wrong with that though, and its probably something else
  6. thats a funny looking snowman

  15. Hehe, don't I know it It's certainly an ambition of mine to keep learning, college gets In the way a lot of this extra learning!
  16. That's photoshopped too!
  17. And the stress on the remaining wood in oaks causes the buckling I hadn't thought of s. crispa tbh. I've not done much studying on conifer fungi. Although I have some knowledge, it's just a bit basic! Another 12 months and I'll be a lot better. None of this uni stuff to get in my way Good insight on the pine, I'd have never thought that in depth!
  18. Pete I've passed both books to Duncan. They are sat on his desk and he knows to pass them to you on Tuesday!
  19. Oh you tinker! My initial thoughts are the bulging is a reaction the internal decay and this is what's also causing the buckling too. The pathogen present causing that I would think to be Phaeolus schweinitzii? (sp?)
  20. I very much know the feeling! Trying to call every oak with a little burr or buckle with fistulina, I force myself to look for the other features too before saying what I think. Although I can still spot them at a distance! I need to be very much obsessed with it until April!
  21. I've probably used the decomp on my 660 less than 5 times. It's not that hard to start! So I've never had one break!
  22. I've got my container. That's already full!
  23. I can't. I don't have the room!
  24. It seems to be out of print. So the demand is high for the copies available. Other places have it marked at £80 but then say out of stock. It's a book is love to add to my collection. Along with the tree doctor and another diseases of trees and shrubs book. I can't buy many more. I don't have the room for a bigger bookcase!
