  1. Dryads saddle as in I. Dryadeus? I struggle with English names now I'm used to Latin! It's a white rotter of oak butts afaik! I. Cuticularis I couldn't call on, situation doesn't seem right because if I recall it's more on veterans and is quite specific to its environment? The reason I said merip is if you look at the centre of the logs in pic 2 at the left hand side, the coloration seems like merip and an advanced stage for it to get to height. Waiting for more comments on this!
  2. just had a good read through this thread, its all very clear to me now, ill be going through the i. dryadeus thread too to make sure that ones solved, but im pretty close on that, it doesnt seem as complicated as this blighter. big thanks to you tony so far for what youve shown me, and to all the other contributors especially Gerrit for his very informative posts!
  3. This time of year id be inclined to head towards Pleurotus ostreatus, as Gerrit has mentioned, it waits until its host is dormant for its mycelium to penetrate and then fruit. As it cannot fight against the attack. Sneaky little bugger!
  4. But it's an oak, so simple to call it hardwood.
  5. Looking at the pattern I'd think merip but if those pieces are from high up it seems wrong. The root plate indicates merip for a few years.
  6. Bang on with that one. The hedge will grow back! Saw these photos on your Facebook Liam. Good set of shots. I particularly liked the yellow rascal mewp!
  7. heres a lime that seems a fair old age from dunham massey, walked by it then realised what it was!
  8. i feel the same way. but it does start to sink in!
  9. Save the wood around the branch unions I.e don't cut through them! I sold some that we're 18" wide and 8-10" thick for £7.50 per log! Went on eBay. I managed to post some down south!
  10. its a work truck, the older navara isnt the best and the newer one we want to sell soon anyway as thats showing its age now. im changing my personal vehicle, i thought a landy would work, but seems like it wont work as well as id hoped.
  11. it seems ive changed my mind, i thought a landy could have been on the cards but after some discussions with a few people its seeming like it wont come to fruition just yet, will have to keep waiting! weve got one i can use every now and a again so its not so bad.
  12. Cheers for all the replies. It seems like a landy may be a bit much right now as I'm not sure where I'll be in a few months. I've got a very keen eye on a new shape fiesta can that's ticking more boxes ATM. At a very good price!
  13. Nice trees. The oak and sweet chestnut in the first post are 100% fistulina colonisations and the sweet chestnut pollard is showing signs too. I wish I could record them all!
  14. try paul moors at stumpbusters merseyside Stumpbusters - Tel 07779048083 ive dealt with him a few times now, does a good job.
  15. I am! And after driving our 110 a bit I want one of my own. I'm aiming for a td5, like Kev mentioned if they are as simple as requiring a service I'm happy. Don't fancy something that's nearly as old as me! Been looking at a 110 v reg td5. But there are tons out there. Just got to see what the insurance say. And the bank!
  16. get a little excited?
  17. thanks geoff, they are better figures than i thought, i know our 110 tdci is quite happily in the low 20s most of the time with it creeping up when empty or sat in the yard! im looking at a 90 to replace my citroen, its becoming problem after problem atm so i want to get shut before something goes. I am reluctant to spend as i am not bringing in a huge amount, but figure i could manage to run one if the fuel figures werent too bad.
  18. out of the three above, whats the best engine to aim for in a landy? also whats an average MPG figure for each? im looking into a landy 90 and im expecting my fuel cost to double from my citroen which gets 40MPG on a bad day. im thinking maybe aiming for a later td5 i.e. 2005 age and finding a dealer with one at a reasonable price, but the costs seem prohibitive, id like some budget to toy with it, so ive been looking at late 90s 300tdi landys. Im not sure which is the best to choose.
  19. weve not had a flake here in st helens or liverpool
  20. Why buy two sets? Does gustharts come with a harness?
  21. Got it It's slowly sinking in'
  22. Grrr I didn't google anything the first time moz! After tony the tease got onto me I had a quick google.
  23. i thought that because they were desiccated it would be a different colour, im going off the top of my head for what i think. I now remember that a. fissilis is single after seeing the examples i have, but because ive not seen i. cuticularis in the flesh so that thought doesnt spring to mind!
  24. grrr i always overlook that! i just see brackets and think fung! need to tune my mind! on beech wound at height would make me think towards a. fissilis?
  25. im not doubting that david, but this one is 'shopped! see the picture!
