  1. is that mark bolam on the right? i got 14! uh oh
  2. I Agree, lots of things can cause some nasty injuries and worse! I too have been hit by falling objects, however it has only been little twigs during a reduction, cueing the all important over dramatic reaction! I make sure I'm well out of the way of big stuff!
  3. Bad workman blames his tools and all that Here's mine from last week
  4. I don't use the padding, I just use the sawpod straps through the sugoi holes and it works fine. The silky Velcro straps have a habit of the plastic ring twisting.
  5. i can remember yesterday, so no!
  6. now theres an idea! id best get bodging.
  7. where can i buy an electricitree from? im dreading having to get my own place, i have no issue with moving out and finding somewhere, but its the companies you have to deal with that will make life a general PAIN!
  8. Does a friction saver make any difference to the twisting? I suppose it could be the hitch twisting the rope. Lock jack + art cocoon friction saver sure is fun for speedy drops!
  9. I would think so, it's an element in the handle so should just pop in. The 660 heated handle has a wire running underneath the grip, so you would just have to buy the handle I suppose!
  10. look at the petzl pantin too, i have one and its always handy for long ascents!
  11. we had a john deere 4520 for a while, quick hitch loader, turf tyres, and full cab. was nice to use. hydrostatic drive so was easy to use. it got sold when the company that owned it went under and now we have a 2520, it will fit on the trailer behind the landy and we set it up for a boom sprayer, all bolt on and very versatile, we run a flail mower, stone burier, power harrow and a loader on it, not enough flow on the hydraulics to run a splitter though. we have the big 6330 for that
  12. One of our guys had stein explorers for 3 weeks, they split between the leather upper and the sole and leaked in less than that time. And they went back. He is now on protector pros and loves them!
  13. From what I believe tony has shown me, as fistulina has been forced into the sapwood, it could have been a contributing factor to the failure happening at the branch collar.
  14. I have heated handles on the660. It's great when it's wet, dries your gloves and the handles so you can grip the saw! Plus the more you rev the warmer the handles, makes you do more work!
  15. Invest in boots. Can't stress that any more! It's what you use the most, plus think about how much sore cold feet will drag your morale down. Warm comfy feet only cost a bit more! I have the meindl airstreams, went from haix blue ridge to these. And I'll be buying another pair when they wear out. Really comfy, good gripping sole cant beat them!
  16. It was in larger pieces. And you could have got your forwarder on it but it had to be cut up to get a lot of the brash out. The site is at ferry road, Eastham. There's a big sign saying Eastham oil terminal. And it's all behind there. I'm working nearby this morning. And will be there around 9. It is next to a road but the site slopes away and has a bank at one side. The chip has been levelled out so it's not as muddy. But will not be easy going. I am reachable on 07516 348002 if you need more info.
  17. I'd price it at £15 if they were collecting it. There are some odd requests now and again. I was asked for 15 logs 6" long and 3-4" thick. I dug through my log pile, found a couple of lengths of conifer that we're straight and cut them all the same size. All while the customer watched. Did all those for £15!
  18. The ali Bashlins aren't too heavy so I've not had an issue with the weight. But I like the leather straps firm, and I can only get them too tight or too loose! When i get paid I'll look at some new kit. I think I'll be having some carbons!
  19. That's a shame john. I was going to message you actually asking about it. The wood is all cut up now into manhandleable pieces, but they are big pieces! 3' rings that are about 8-10" thick. Not the lightest of things! It's all sat on site now awaiting the wood pixies!
  20. If I can get a demo I shall try one. But don't know anyone round here who has one! I have no issues with husqvarna, my stihl dealer is a good guy and I'd prefer to deal through them.
  21. Theres not much up to 15" left in lengths now. Anything up to 12" has been eaten by the chipper. Then it's all quite big stuff. Up to about 30" thickest
  22. Couple more
  23. Couple of pictures from today's antics. Thought it would be 2 days climbing. The highest I went today was 8ft to make a tree fit in the space! There were 6 in total. Two big buggers and 4 smaller ones. The two big ones were tricky fells. They weren't bothered about the sycamore with the treehouse, it was that or the shed in their garden. Did the job for Manchester ship canal. Beast of a chipper in too. Schleising 550zx. Unstoppable! Got the last three to clear up tomorrow morning. Chip and logs on site, happy days!
  24. You must have been properly fed up with British weather after Friday then?
  25. I'm looking at buying new. I'm tempted for for the 441 as I do like them. But now I am tempted for the 361/2. Going through the company to save VAT. I'll see if my local has any 361s. I think I'll set for one of those. If the 460 is a good price at the apf, I may get one.
