  1. Red bag for rigging equipment, hardware and strops etc, black rope bag for rigging rope, blue rope bag for 45m line, black kit bag for all climbing gear including 20m rope, daisy chained and neat and tidy! Back in my container, hooks for everything!
  2. In front of the town hall 6.30 am to stunt fell the 40ft Christmas tree and get rid of it, 3 big lumps into a farm trailer that wasn't quite big enough. Then into the main town square to get another denser 40fter that filled the trailer even more again. In Manchester for 8.45am to take out 3 alders on a building site and finish off yesterday's fallout job. Home for 2.30. Not a bad day!
  3. We've got a parsons terrier and a little brown terrier of some sort, don't know what he's crossed with. The parsons terrier (Sam) sleeps in front of the fire, two inches from it when it's roaring and near enough cooks herself! Sits there panting most of the time and gives you a really depressing look if the fire isn't lit! Bud the other one has taken a liking to me, moved in with my dads girlfriend about 18 months ago, he's about 15 now and disappears if you bang a plate down too hard. Likes hiding under my bed and has been found numerous times under my duvet. Whether I'm there or not. Quite happy to sit near you and whine and chirp and make all sorts of daft noises if you ignore him! Pair of them sleep wherever they fall over. But do have their own beds downstairs at night.
  4. A machine like that which has a crane on and a hydraulically operated chip box lid so that you could drop lumps of timber straight in would pay for itself in saved time and efficiency. Big kit gets it done!
  5. Two call outs in two days now. Manchester and easthim in the Wirral. Fair old travel to each. Plenty photos taken.
  6. I was good last year and Santa got me a positioner. I bought 5m of blaze with a spliced on snap lock to go with it. Not even tried it properly and I love it already. So much smoother! I'm converted to mechanical shinys now. I love the reliability and simplicity. I can climb more confidently knowing it will grab reliably. I'll let you have a play if you get hold of a SJ I'll have to have a dance on that too.
  7. Because your kits worth money either elsewhere in the country or abroad, some can be stolen to order, a lot of farm machinery is and is being sent to eastern Europe and other places. If you've got it,they want to steal it!
  8. Our yard is open for logs and chip. St Helen's wa10. Exact location on website.
  9. I went past just before Christmas and it was still there. Would like to know of it still is after these winds! I might have a wander tomorrow.
  10. What is it with women and periods. Everything is your fault when she's having one, and apparently it's your fault if she doesn't!
  11. When your driving to mine. You go past Taylor's farm and then after the sharp bend where there is a white metal fence on your left, there's a large beech that's got some serious dieback! Some ganos forming in the buttresses too this year. Need to get out an have a gander.
  12. Has that knackered beech in the field not gone over yet? Don't know how that is still standing!
  13. Same here Seen nothing bigger than my thumb come down so far.
  14. Starting to realise I need some cash to live with. Going to change back to tree work ads instead of firewood, not done well at all with them. Few hundred quid wasted. gutted. I've got something in the pipe line that will be a good job. Just need time for it to come off hopefully.
  15. It's on the news a guy has a been killed by a tree landing on his car. Should spark some tree interest methinks.
  16. I could do with a day a week from someone. I am willing to commute to the work up to a reasonable distance. Greenmech cs100 and truck with chip box are also available. Tickets cs30-34 and 38/39. Climbing and rigging kit. 200t/260/660 saws. Hard worker. Good learner. Like to apply myself to get jobs done to a high standard. Happy with any work. Cheers 07841128366
  17. i prefer the brekorderlig! much nicer taste imo, nice with ice and a mint leaf! im turning to brothers toffee apple cider now though! i made a resolution to just do it!
  18. the trees are owned by Manchester Ship Canal, the safety of the trees is their main concern. i wouldnt want to reduce these lombardies, the risk will still be there no matter what is done to these trees, and the homeowner directly underneath these trees will be kept at ease if the trees are removed, this is not what spurred my decision to remove/replant, as the overall condition of the group isnt great, i would rather be proactive on these trees than reactive. they are at the end of a small wooded area, the rest of the woodland are other broadleaves, mainly sycamores, and the ivy is strong in this whole part. Replanting new species, would have to be fairly vigorous to keep on top of the ivy, otherwise the new saplings will be overrun with ivy before they can make an addition to the area.
  19. proper draughty here, bad rain this morning but just windy now

    Lucky man

    Two words LANYARD ON!
  21. Don't seem so bad Is that water or sand?
  22. Yale got rid of the large solid and it's jacket and replaced it with those small eyes. Bit daft, but it does prevent cross loading!
  23. Didn't know you could get a Clio convertible!
  24. It completely depends on where your interests lie. Arb has so many extra little topics that it's tricky to cover them all! I like my fungi so I've got 5 books on them. Tree identification is always good so I've got lots of books on that. Also got books on bonsai, laws, pruning, woodland management, plant physiology, hazard management. The books with the yellow covers with communities and local government on the front, tree hazard management, body language of trees and diagnosis of I'll health in trees are all must haves for an arb. Amazon is a good resource for books. I know Jo at treesource has a good selection, but it does pay to shop around!
  25. I don't have an issue with a lockjack on xtc. It's not as fast as on poison ivy I will agree but I still find it good to use. IMO xtc ropes are some of the best out there.
