  1. Put me second for butins book! Really want a read of that!
  2. Ganoderma can occur at height. Highest I saw it was about 10ft stuck on the side of a union with a few other fruiting bodies accompanying it. Ganoderma doesn't look like much else, pics would be ace!
  3. Kretz seems to be pretty aggressive on ash then? It is aggressive anyway it seems but I've seen an ash completely goosed by it. And I can't believe I've seen it on ash before you tony .
  4. I completely agree with you Andy. Was in the local tesco last night at 10pm. Forecourt was a frenzy. I really cannot understand why people are panic buying over a silly statement by a prat of a minister. Was half tempted to shout what a bunch of idiots. If people actually thought about what they were doing then it would have been empty. My car has just less than a full tank, it probably won't see me till the end of the week. But I'll just find a station an full up as normal. Not in a panic, not with 10 jerry cans, just fill as normal and hope the fools in a panic haven't bought it all.
  5. Do a blakes hitch instead, much easier IMO.

  11. Brown oak is caused by Fistulina hepatica, it's early stages of brown rot. A long time ago trees were inoculated purely to produce brown oak. Wouldn't mind a table, or a pen, made out of it! Bog oak is more expensive again though!
  12. ihave a CS100 and it stands up very well for its size, if you feed it and treat it according to its size and not like a 12" beast then it will respond and work very well.
  13. To echo the article authors comments, i really hope that FERA do get adequate resources for this disease, god forbid it hits croft castle! why do we need to import NATIVE species?
  14. There's loads of trees here so plenty room! The lar page in the general tree pics thread has a picture of some ofthe woods we will use. Just as a taster
  15. woodpecker is more of a possibility, we have bats in the farm buildings, but rarely seen anything to indicate them around the woodland here. Simple enough answer cheers

  17. couple of trees from round the farm, nothing all that special!
  18. I will have a look on science direct for any articles. Might pull something up.

  20. i have it simple RAINFORDS TREE CARE Professional Tree Surgery landline number mobile number
  21. In that situation I would be strongly inclined to remove that tree. P. schweinitzii causes a brown rot in the stem and will lead to a brittle - across the grain - fracture.
  22. Are you small or far away?
  23. Yeah I do, I just need another pair of hands on this job I'm on so thought may aswell be a climber.
  24. good on you for getting out, little steps at a time the whitebeam is a Sorbus species, its quite dense wood and is surprisingly heavy. dont worry about not coming out, i am out on a job tomorrow and you are welcome to come down for a chat.
  25. haha sorry! thankfully i dont need a phone case! but i saw it and immediately want one, the full cover is very nice, although at nearly $250 its a tad pricey! https://www.miniot.com/webshop/?portlet=miniot&page=miniotcase&state=normal
