  1. Late summer and into autumn is the best time for any treatment of this weed as the upper parts of the plant begin to retract and spraying the tops will mean the chemical is absorbed easier. We got less control of we sprayed earlier in the season.
  2. Glyphosate is usually approx 5l/ha so you need 1000 stems to hit the limit at 5ml/stem. We usually inject within a couple inches of the base. HCR: if you sliced off the stems you'd have to dispose of it. Leaving it there just makes a problem.
  3. Bag all them stringy bits up and keep them near the fire. Brilliant kindling.
  4. It's a bit of a distance. Probably half a tank of juice in the landy by the time I've dragged it all back. Whether its worth it though I'm not sure. Wouldn't mind some better quality wood in the barn!
  5. Why quote for something you have no idea about doing? Your either gonna come up short and work for nothing or find you are too expensive. Plus if you don't get all the stems you have to go back and get them. It's getting close to the time where you can just spray them now instead of stem inject.
  6. I'd come and take them, not sure about buying them though. Sandbach is 40 minutes away. Or an hour and a half if I come and take them all with the tractor trailer! How much are you looking for?
  7. The work was going to be in a few places, but this work is now not available as I was told that there is none on Monday afternoon, they had one tree to remove yesterday but that's all.
  8. Read up on the plant itself. It's habits and growth patterns. It's a he'll of a thing to deal with and a people can just be ignorant about it and ignore it.
  9. It's giant alright. Where this patch is there is 3ha of the stuff all this tall. No way of dealing with it. Can't send a guy in. Can't flail it. Just have to spray what we can and control where possible. We are dealing with lots of this currently. I got hit with standard hogweed back in may. I'm still scarred.
  10. I hit an iron gutter bracket with my 36" bar last year. Took a while to get that sharpened again. Still got all the bits from it too
  11. It can be killed, but needs to bit hit very hard with a strong chemical. It's tough stuff and does come back quite readily. But don't touch it!
  12. If you could get a pic mid skydive of you eating a gingers that would be awesome
  13. Is there not a map available for the original order?
  14. Not at all. Because we never overload anything. I'm sure a vehicle like that would still not look like it was carrying much even if the box was full. Should have got barn doors to keep prying eyes out!
  15. They have to test that all the contacts work now. The last MoT my truck went for in April they had to test this and have to for any vehicle with towbar and electrics
  16. Here's one I did today. It was as tall as the sycamores next to it and well over the fences on its sides. Did part of it with a saw one morning but it was tipping down so couldn't work properly and finally finished it this morning. You can tell the difference between chainsaw and silky work (gap on one side, whoops ) This tree was a pain to climb around, no decent scaffold branch work with a ton of inner branches that made it very thick. Bit like climbing through a shrub! Spec was just a reduce and crown lift. Not a thin.
  17. 2t is a good amount then. Better than a tranny. Is the low tailgate not an issue? Surely you'd want it a bit higher to hold more chip?
  18. Gotta be an ultimate set up! What's the payload?
  19. They phoned me a couple times. Had an email yesterday saying refund has gone through.
  20. I've found someone who's just a local lad after money. He will work for less than i advertised and puts other people i have worked with to shame! I have to say I was surprised by no response! And turns out the company giving me this work don't have any until later this month. Could have told me last week!
  21. Swimmings a bit of a false concept for exercise in a way. Because your muscles have to work a lot harder to get warm in the water they won't reach a point where they can start to burn fat and do you any good. You'll be knackered before you get to the same point as doing 15 minutes on a treadmill. I hit the gym hard with a friend through may. Few times a week and eating healthy and working a few days a week. I felt 100% more motivated during work and wasn't tired by 3pm. In 3 weeks I lost 6lb and built muscle too. If your thinking of going to the gym find a buddy to go with. Makes it a lot easier and If they are a bit of a fitness nut then it will help to push you as you try to keep up with them. Coming out the gym and struggling to drive home from weakness after a hard session is a good feeling.
  22. That's a steep hill!
  23. I am still scarred from my contact. No blistering in the sun though or marks appearing. We have just been dealing with an area of land approx 3Ha which was covered in giant hogweed. It dwarfed our 8' tall landy.
  24. Bump? Nobody interested? Not tricky work but I can't do it alone.
