  1. Sometimes when cross cutting the sprocket can lock up a bit. Happens to me every now and again. I rev the saw a bit before each cut to let the sprocket clean out a bit and it seems to alleviate. Sometimes it can be a chain off job to loosen up.
  2. I'm offering less with the knowledge of sorting these bits out. They just need doing before winter so I can waxoyl the lot.
  3. I'm aware of the rot issues and went looking for them. Will go again tomorrow with a guy who knows them inside out and will have a good look for boot rot tomorrow. It has two sunroofs. Not planning to open them. Might just seal them up. It's currently up for £2k but will offer him less in mind to spend the rest tidying up. Insurance came out at £900 which I'm pleased with. My little citroen is £760.
  4. Been to look at this green oval today. Dads girlfriends brother owns the garage. So it can be held on to and price negotiated easier. I'm just after a few hints. I am going to look tomorrow with a guy who knows them well. I'm looking for some experiences on fixing the rust issues highlighted here. It has an MOT and can be driven away whenever. The engine is a 300tdi and has 73k on the clock with a new cambelt at 33k. Services by this same garage every 6000 miles. Had a drive and it runs smooth with no smoke. Sweet as a nut. Good for its age. Just needs some TLC and it would be right good again. Sorry for poor pics. Phone wouldn't let me see what I was taking!
  5. We have an electric one. That spins them down to a stub to go in a wooden block. Don't know where to get them though.
  6. There is hodgsons tool hire in burscough and ainsdale that have a chipper. Can't remember their rates. But expensive from what I remember and I haven't seemed to get the best experience from them in the past.
  7. I am going back to the deposit grounds where there is 3ha of hogweed. I'll get plenty pictures!
  8. I wish all these girls got as excited about me finishing in less than 10 seconds.
  9. Even I got that!
  10. There's a nice claim for him. Although I bet he's still there!
  11. Cool. My names been down for ages on that one! I'll try and make the Hatfield house ATF too!
  12. 'tis Robin Not me though. Iirc he was interested in restoration pruning, which works similarly how scribing does, leaving a mark/scar/ cut to promote growth below pruning points and in the crown.
  13. The foray looks like it could be plenty fruitful this year! Some good shots and interesting fung there tony. Enjoy your Romania trip!
  14. She did really well. Well proud of our Brits this year!
  15. Friggin ell! Mine was nothing like that. Is that on giant hogweed mark? Popping them is satisfying but bloody hell it hurts afterwards!
  16. That rings a bell. I've not used the stuff so that's why I can't remember.
  17. Didn't mean to come across like that, just that if they were going to scrap it I wouldn't have done my test to get the extra ticket. I would actually think that keeping the ticket, even though it seems a bit of a money spinner, actually keeps the bigger trailers towed by more experienced people and people trained for it. Seen some appalling efforts recently which were just dangerous.
  18. I'll get the name of the stuff for you mark. We have a specialist spraying rig with a 300' hose reel that is good for hard to reach areas and has power for spraying big patches of jkw and Gh. Don't even poke the stuff. I got splattered by normal hogweed in may and I'm still showing scars
  19. I hope it's a load of rubbish. Not long passed my trailer test!
  20. I see what you mean. But as mentioned if he sold the land with a covenant of some sort that protected the tree, which was then sold with no mention, who's liability is it then, it must fall under the developer. But if he can't produce any paperwork then id say carry on, he sold ownership of the land and the things included in it. Not his choice anymore?
  21. Looks like ash to me, twigs and buds and compound leaves look right. Picture of the whole tree is not good so can't comment much further. It could be a different type of ash to your common ash, the crown looks a bit yellow!
  22. Can't remember the name of the chemical we spray it with. Bit stronger than roundup. But you can't just go running in and around it. Charlie: that sounds right. I've never heard my dad mention l/ha rate with stem injection. He knows a lot more on the topic than I do, I just pick bits up.
  23. realistically he could only sue for the trees value as determined by one of the recognised rating systems, other than that i dont see what else he could claim damages for. as others have said, paperwork.
  24. Yep, roundup is just a trading name. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in most herbicides, usually at a concentration of 360 g/l. Pretty generic stuff and doesn't hang around in the soil.
  25. nice one, onwards and upwards!
