  1. heres the pictures, with a picture of the plate on the back too
  2. ok thanks jonesie. ill get some photos up tomorrow when im back in there.
  3. hi guys Had a bit of a mishap in the new container for all my gear, my dad was holding the chain grinder on the bench in its place where it will be fixed, but we had no bolts big enough to fit through the bench and the machine. AS i turned round to see if there were any bigger bolts anywhere, and he turned round aswell and let go of the grinder, with it already hanging over the edge. it decided the floor was a better place to be. The fan at the top has all smashed, bent one of the long bolts that run through down the side of the motor housing and smashed all the black covering for the fan. ive looked on the net but cant seem to find anywhere that sells spare parts. Does anybody know where or do they have any? Thanks. Its the Speed sharp 240v sharpener. i think its the same as the oregon ones.
  4. I have both the hiflex and stein. The combination of both is great for standing around in the cold. Stihl is waterproof to an extent. But love how the stein in lightweight and fully waterproof. Worked in the rain a tad this week. Been bone dry bar my gloves. Looks good with my stein helmet and hi viz stretch airs I would recommend the stein. I also have a regatta softshell £20 from tkmax. It's a great layer underneath the hiflex when it's cold. Bought a small instead of a medium. Is good for climbing as it's comfy and out the way
  5. so thats where i left it!
  6. is it the sirius? i dont mind buying some off your hands
  7. ive been told that stihl bars have a sealed bearing so there is no opportunity for dirt to get into the bearing, meaning there is no reason to grease, but husky bars have a different one so they need greasing.
  8. thanks for that. Best advice I could ask for! I've been discussing it with a few classmates and my dad and I'm choosing to go round a few estates where there seems to be a little more money around (and trees!). around some places I will be knocking on the doors and talking face to face with asany as possible. I've got photos of myself working on the leaflet so straight away the leaflet is more personal. I just don't know how many places to leaflet. I'll be using the few local chippys and stuff to get more people to see it hopefully. Plus with a 10% off offer on the leaflet if it's produced
  9. There's a guy I have worked with who has problems with his shoulder dislocating if he stretches too far. He has a modified version of these. His was an old fishing hook which a guy just cut the sharp end off and put a little round ball on the end. It extends to about 2m or so. It makes climbing a lot easier for him. For example if you get your rope over a good branch but you can't reach. Out comes the extendable arm and it's back to you in no time!
  10. what are your guys views on using lealets like this to attract some work? ive been putting together a small leaflet myself with information on work i can do, aiming for little domestic jobs for experience and to run my car and eating habits. I know there are people against this and i am looking for work in arb companies too, but my turn ahsnt come round for a place in those companies yet. so im looking to find some work myself. i know a few classmates with tickets and also know a few other people, so im not short of help if i need it. i just dont want to fall under the category of a leaflet pusher who knows how to start a saw and cut a piece of timber. and climb a tree with some bale twine and a rickety ladder.
  11. as long as the cup holder is ok, thats all that matters?!
  12. Hi guys. Yet another request for work. I can start anytime working part time on wednesday and Friday and weekends. Have my own saw and full LOLERd climbing equipment. I can travel to work no problems and I will turn my hand to anything. Willing to start anywhere! 13. we had about 2 inches here in st helens. It hailstoned very heavily for about 10 minutes then changed to snow, leaving a pack of ice underneath it all. Then we had more snow overnight and all that packed hailstone then went soft, its almost all gone now, this was on saturday.
  14. Yeah didn't you see the yellow flowery werewolf in the first few pics? Great pics kat1e. Would love some more accessible areas around this area!
  15. i saw a defender 90 with 'Special Branch Tree Services' written on the side. made me chuckle!
  16. what hitch is that? looks similar to a distel/knut mixed together?
  17. i use a knut with ocean polyester on XTC+ and it works well, if it starts to tighten up the bottom loop with the half hitch just needs to be loosened slightly and then re set and it works smooth again. i have found it a good hitch and a very efficient way of climbing!
  18. theres a guy i know with a nickname like that!
  19. i find stuff like this really interesting, where somebody has tried to either reduce tree management or get rid of it and pollarded it or done a massive reduction, and the tree continues to grow vigourously. Shows Who was here first eh?
  20. If you save as a .png. That image file has no compression so it will keep all the quality. But saving as a jpeg compresses the image to make them quicker to transfer. Tif is similar to png. But less programs can handle a tif image. Not sure why!
  21. Beat bet would be eBay. I found a few by just searching for 'arborist'. You get lots of ropes and helmets and boots but there are the odd pair of spikes knocking round. Varying in price depending what there is. On a side note i really don't recommend putting your email up for public viewing. Trawlers and bots can find it and give you spam. And lots of it. And I've put mine up. Bloody hypocrit!
  22. Hi mate

I don't use the plastic visor with my lid. I have the peltor h31p1e or something similar to that. The orange ones. The visor does just clip straight in. As there are predefined holes For it to clip into. I've not tried combining the two. So I don't know how it would work exactly.

  23. You can buy the mesh visor separate. There was no need to change anything on the visor. It clipped straight into the predefined holes already on the muff fittings
  24. ahh i remember. forgot that was you. I couldnt sense whether your post was sarcastic or telling me off, my mind couldnt make up its mind! looks like i may have no access method, the postman doesnt want to give me my spikes yet.
  25. i do use a stein with the mesh visor, but i do not have the other visor attached because when it rains it just gets covered in water and when its a bit dirty you cant see anything and like said earlier, when its rubbing against the peak of the lid it gets scratched to hell and back
