  2. Forgot this you can contact me on 07841128366 or email at [email protected] excuse the awkwardness of that email adress. I've had it for a while
  3. It's Mykit - Kansas, Uneek, Snickers, Blaklader, Husqvarna, Stein, Stretch Air, Gen Y, Pioner, Helly Hansen, Bolle, Kustom Kit, Goliath, Sterling, Arborist, Aprons, Workwear,Embroidery, Printing - has anybody ever heard of or used this site? they seem ok as they have a pretty expansive workwear range. As im forever on a search for a good pair of gloves. What do you think?
  4. Just while i have some time, i will be finishing college for summer mid may this year and i am looking for summer work until late august, i can work full time for those few months and if you are generous i can do a couple days a week when i start back at college, depending on studies, that aspect will have to be confirmed closer to the time. I have CS30-34 since 07 and cs38 since nov 09. I will be attaining cs39 around april. I am looking for work, it doesnt have to be much, i will happily drag brash for basic wage. I am craving some proper tree work, ive got almost none under my belt. i have my own 260 and climbing gear, harness, ropes and spikes. Including all PPE in hi-viz and non hi vis forms. I am willing to learn and would happily be taken as an apprentice to another climber.
  5. just title it 'weekly shopping' and make two copies, one that is actually the weekly shopping, and one that isnt.
  6. the view from the top of the ~70ft beech at myerscough when climbing on monday, three of us originally going up the tree but the other two wimped out. included is how much rope i needed, and the tree i was up, was a good job i changed from my 37m to my 45m rope for that day! Was hoping to god i didnt drop my iphone too, that would have took some damage on the way down EDIT: none of the images seem to want to work Yfrog Album
  7. I'll be coming hopefully. Will have to organise a road trip with fellow classmates
  8. geez, thats my worst fear, just not clipping in properly or something failing. i witnessed a drop too on monday, nothing too severe, we were doing pole rescue and there was two guys on the pole about 15ft the rescuer had gone up, put in a pulley above the casualty and one of the instructors was telling him to not touch his prussik. He had just installed the casualties prussik to clip onto. Instead of lowering the extra on for theother guy, he decided his was the one to pull. The instructor was screaming dont touch the prussik but he did, and he came down pretty quickly, luckily it had been raining and the groundwas a bit soft, but there was a pile of logs prety near. That could have been considerably worse.
  9. i did climb on a 13mm split tail with an 11mm rope and it was good, it waws fast when descending, but i cant see that being a bad thing
  10. ahh i get it, the becket is the bit that crosses underneath the pulley wheel? thats my new thing learnt today!
  11. looks similar in design shape to the Petzl Fixe, but a bit more curvy
  12. he/she sure is enjoying that bike seat!
  13. there may have not been a big enough hill for them to get to you
  14. how would be the best way to wash ropes? i know most people say they never need to bother, but doing some aerial rescue practice up at myerscough on monday and my rope was one of the ropes there for people to use, it was wet and muddy and my rope (which was a fairly clean looking blaze) is now stuffed full of mud and crap, and im wondering whats the best way to wash it?
  15. well, at lest the leak in the roof was fixed. by that i mean, there is no roof to get a leak in, so is the problem fixed or not?
  16. remember its not how big your tool is, its what you can do with it!
  17. i think you have a deal there How do you want the payment?
  18. i did actually read the europe gaff too, with US trees like the redwoods having thick bark, they will have a longer gaff to get through it so the spikes would work more effectively, with most european trees (beech, ash) having thinner bark then there is no need for a long gaff. So there is a shorter one available.
  19. i used a silver bull small hip bag that did fit wel onto my harness, but i found when squeezing through a tight fork or when there was lots of little branches it got in the way slightly, and went back to a 3m line for my lanyard instead. now its there just incase i need it, i had 10m of scorch rope in it, with room for another 5m or so.
  20. there are no branches to anchor to, plus if there was, im unsure of the quality of it or the strength t the top, so spikes seem to be the better option, plus its on the edge of a woodland, with persmission from the gamekeeper im allowed to use it. there is no access for a mewp
  21. thanks for that one, i think that sealed it for me, i may just buy those, will have to dig into my savings and put to to get those for sure!
  22. Looking around at hb, gustharts and at treeworker. The lowest price seems to be around 164 which was on gustharts. They were for the steel bashlins. I saw these on treeworker Climbing Spurs - Treeworker.co.uk the ones that caught my eye were the aluminium ones. For an extra £26 I could get something that is lighter and possibly comfier. eBay had little on offer and not that many were good prices for what you were getting IMO. What are your opinions on the ally gecko ones?
  23. Waste of time, their trackies would block up the chipper and then you would have to clean it out. Not to mention they might catch the roller stopper bar on the way in. They would just make it awkward.
  24. Hey guys. The time has come that I need to do some spiking. The tree of choice is a pine which has had a bit of wind damage at the top and the only way to access the top to free the lump of wood left there is to spike it. My main question is what are the best comfy but good value spikes to buy. If I could I would try and afford the bling bling carbon fibre ones but it's not my money that's buying them. So cheap as possible but still good for comfort. Also, long or short gaffs? Cheers
  25. that was an interesting read, nice to know that where thousands of trees go each year that they are actually utilising more of it than just the cellulose! Paer companies put all the foresty comission logos on their packets, but they burn a significant amount of the tree (the lignin) then are they actually being environmentally friendly?
