  1. Yeah didn't you see the yellow flowery werewolf in the first few pics? Great pics kat1e. Would love some more accessible areas around this area!
  2. i saw a defender 90 with 'Special Branch Tree Services' written on the side. made me chuckle!
  3. what hitch is that? looks similar to a distel/knut mixed together?
  4. i use a knut with ocean polyester on XTC+ and it works well, if it starts to tighten up the bottom loop with the half hitch just needs to be loosened slightly and then re set and it works smooth again. i have found it a good hitch and a very efficient way of climbing!
  5. theres a guy i know with a nickname like that!
  6. i find stuff like this really interesting, where somebody has tried to either reduce tree management or get rid of it and pollarded it or done a massive reduction, and the tree continues to grow vigourously. Shows Who was here first eh?
  7. If you save as a .png. That image file has no compression so it will keep all the quality. But saving as a jpeg compresses the image to make them quicker to transfer. Tif is similar to png. But less programs can handle a tif image. Not sure why!
  8. Beat bet would be eBay. I found a few by just searching for 'arborist'. You get lots of ropes and helmets and boots but there are the odd pair of spikes knocking round. Varying in price depending what there is. On a side note i really don't recommend putting your email up for public viewing. Trawlers and bots can find it and give you spam. And lots of it. And I've put mine up. Bloody hypocrit!
  9. Hi mate

I don't use the plastic visor with my lid. I have the peltor h31p1e or something similar to that. The orange ones. The visor does just clip straight in. As there are predefined holes For it to clip into. I've not tried combining the two. So I don't know how it would work exactly.

  10. You can buy the mesh visor separate. There was no need to change anything on the visor. It clipped straight into the predefined holes already on the muff fittings
  11. ahh i remember. forgot that was you. I couldnt sense whether your post was sarcastic or telling me off, my mind couldnt make up its mind! looks like i may have no access method, the postman doesnt want to give me my spikes yet.
  12. i do use a stein with the mesh visor, but i do not have the other visor attached because when it rains it just gets covered in water and when its a bit dirty you cant see anything and like said earlier, when its rubbing against the peak of the lid it gets scratched to hell and back
  13. what do you mean by that?
  14. Forgot this you can contact me on 07841128366 or email at [email protected] excuse the awkwardness of that email adress. I've had it for a while
  15. It's Mykit - Kansas, Uneek, Snickers, Blaklader, Husqvarna, Stein, Stretch Air, Gen Y, Pioner, Helly Hansen, Bolle, Kustom Kit, Goliath, Sterling, Arborist, Aprons, Workwear,Embroidery, Printing - has anybody ever heard of or used this site? they seem ok as they have a pretty expansive workwear range. As im forever on a search for a good pair of gloves. What do you think?
  16. Just while i have some time, i will be finishing college for summer mid may this year and i am looking for summer work until late august, i can work full time for those few months and if you are generous i can do a couple days a week when i start back at college, depending on studies, that aspect will have to be confirmed closer to the time. I have CS30-34 since 07 and cs38 since nov 09. I will be attaining cs39 around april. I am looking for work, it doesnt have to be much, i will happily drag brash for basic wage. I am craving some proper tree work, ive got almost none under my belt. i have my own 260 and climbing gear, harness, ropes and spikes. Including all PPE in hi-viz and non hi vis forms. I am willing to learn and would happily be taken as an apprentice to another climber.
  17. just title it 'weekly shopping' and make two copies, one that is actually the weekly shopping, and one that isnt.
  18. the view from the top of the ~70ft beech at myerscough when climbing on monday, three of us originally going up the tree but the other two wimped out. included is how much rope i needed, and the tree i was up, was a good job i changed from my 37m to my 45m rope for that day! Was hoping to god i didnt drop my iphone too, that would have took some damage on the way down EDIT: none of the images seem to want to work Yfrog Album
  19. I'll be coming hopefully. Will have to organise a road trip with fellow classmates
  20. geez, thats my worst fear, just not clipping in properly or something failing. i witnessed a drop too on monday, nothing too severe, we were doing pole rescue and there was two guys on the pole about 15ft the rescuer had gone up, put in a pulley above the casualty and one of the instructors was telling him to not touch his prussik. He had just installed the casualties prussik to clip onto. Instead of lowering the extra on for theother guy, he decided his was the one to pull. The instructor was screaming dont touch the prussik but he did, and he came down pretty quickly, luckily it had been raining and the groundwas a bit soft, but there was a pile of logs prety near. That could have been considerably worse.
  21. i did climb on a 13mm split tail with an 11mm rope and it was good, it waws fast when descending, but i cant see that being a bad thing
  22. ahh i get it, the becket is the bit that crosses underneath the pulley wheel? thats my new thing learnt today!
  23. looks similar in design shape to the Petzl Fixe, but a bit more curvy
  24. he/she sure is enjoying that bike seat!
  25. there may have not been a big enough hill for them to get to you
