  1. Oh dear. Now we will match! Good choice though. I was stood ankle deep in water today in the pouring rain. My feet were the driest part of me!
  2. Hi eddie I've got a 24" bar and I'm over in Liverpool with means to travel. I have access to a timberwolf 12" pto300h. I've got no problem using a 24" bar on a 3ft tree.
  3. i thought theyd all been felled
  4. who decided to do that to the tranny? they seem like a candidate for sitting in the passesnger seat from now on!
  5. The advice i would give would be see if you can get one of these contractors to give you some trial work, see how you feel about climbing, in exchange for free labour. If you like it, you may be able to stay with them and they will train you on the job and you will get more into it. If you cant do that, start with cs30/21 and then go to cs38/39. thats the simplest way to be able to do it, but without some training and climbing time with other companies you will struggle to get off the ground.
  6. Surely with a gross of 3.5ton you'd only be able to carry your kit and be on the limit?
  7. This makes all yours look really tidy! We just havent had a chance to process it all!
  8. Iirc it's pseudomonas syringae pv prunsmorum that affects cherry
  9. My silky gomtaro 240mm is good for small stuff and was pretty much bang on £30 from honey bros. Didn't check anywhere else but you may get it elsewhere cheaper
  10. Something similar to the myhammer site? I joined that but it was so much hassle trying to get verified. They wouldn't accept my bank statement as proof of address as I'd blacked out all my important numbers. Even though they didn't need them! I've not hears of rated people. I don't really like those sites as anybody can quote! I was seeing people with builders certs and no relevant nptc qualifications quoting silly money for jobs!
  11. From what I've seen of them they would be done by a rather strong machine. What rope is it you want to splice?
  12. What do you mean by rated people?
  13. Deepest condolences littletree. Only time can help you deal with things like it. Is may not heal them. But you learn how to cope. I'm sure everyone will agree when I say we are all here for you as colleagues, friends and fellow arbtalkers
  14. heres a pic of the pile of laburnum. average size is about 6" across and 4' long
  15. ive got some bergaus wet gear, matching pants and jacket, both breathable, good when the heavens open for business. If i just want a jacket ive got a regatta waterproof which i got from TK maxx for £25
  16. thats right, by bracing it you are admitting there is something wrong with the tree that requires it to be held together, so it wouldnt stand up too well against mr insurance if stuff went down the pan
  17. i would personally push to get tid of it, expalin the benefits of removing and replanting a better specimen. As with bracing, you know there is a problem, the bracing just prevents the worst from happening. It doesnt stop it and its not a permanent solution, as the tree could fail somewhere else!
  18. With regards to the spraying. I used to drive quad bikes down footpaths in all sorts of places. Busy paths empty alleyways with people walking directly behind me and passing by with pets with my boom on. I've had people stop me and kick off saying their dogs been ill but all I can say is it's pretty harmless and it wont kill your pets! We only used weedspraying signs stuck on the back of the bikes. All we needed. I'd agree with the disc slicing and then filling the stump. Would create better conditions for it to soak in. For rain fastness in 10-15 minutes. We use a sticking/wetting agent called headland guard pro. Good stuff. Needs very low amounts to be at the correct concentration.
  19. Not one to be playing up the tree on your lunch though!
  20. I think they were pruning spikes. Seemed like the back of the tree anyway!
  21. There's plenty wood here now ranging from 2" up to 10"! Good load in the back of my pickup. The bottom part of the stem has a split in the middle unfortunately as it seems as though the tree had honey fungus. There is a fair weight to it all too. Pics tomorrow!
  22. It's for ventilation! Honest!
  23. I thought that as I was putting it together. Plus you'd only be attached to 1 layer of fabric which I'm sure isn't good!
  24. the gold rings are in fact rated as side Ds, look at the label, the side ds have the same EN number as the gold rings, odd really! how about this for a mod, dont know whether i would actually trust it though because of where its connected to the bridge? what do you think? its nice with the maillons, they are really easy to get one handed, the shackles arent, they sit loose.
  25. Hey there :)

I was wondering, could you do a couple of splices for me?

a splice at either end of a 20m rope, and one on a 10m line? Both ropes will be new. Would you want anything for them?

After a tip also, are ocean poly and armor prus both double braid splices? if so how difficult do you rate them?

    Cheers!

    Rob
