  1. tractor/trailer if i can, i think ill just chuck it straight into it and take it to my normal greenwaste site. the customer wants as many logs as we can give him so theres a good amount to be left on site, we basiclaly need to take just brash.
  2. these arent simple 1 stem conifers, they grow to about 6ft as a single stem then split into two halves of the tree, many stems going either way. Its not pretty! its about 150m long, 30-35ft high. Not small. it all wants coming down to 10ft! loads to take away. darren if your down here on saturday ill show you, ill arrange with the customer that i can come and visit in the daytime and ill say im just showing a couple of guys whats being done. Will be a good crack i was going to be doing the bashing, looking forward to it! but i said 2 climbers, wouldbe be a bad idea just having a big saw and bashing lots out at once, theres so many stems! no hedge trimmers needed. callum i will send you a PM, names have not been confirmed yet, but will be by monday/tuesday
  3. okidoke, im not expecting much from the weather tbh. ed ive got one but feel free, why not set up two!
  4. if your in a car then its best to leave it at the yard, plenty space to leave it. Then i will just bring your stuff down in the truck. aim for around 10.30-11, robarb is getting here for half 10 I went down today in my truck, its all grass but looks like tis gonna be a bit muddy, with me having no weight on the back wheels i made good mess of the wet bits. Found a potential zipline tree that will pass over the lake, but getting the rope to the other side of the lake is a problem! its a fair distance! I counted maybe 10 good trees, mainly oaks, and a sycamore or two. took some pics but left memory card at the other halfs. so no teaser pics. weve got a field of spuds we can pilcher from if needs be. can i confirm these names? so i know how many to grab refreshments for! me robarb ed darren? 18 stoner? ray tom Cant wait
  5. i would assume so, branches can also fail due to dreeze/thaw, for example if there is a pocket of water in a union and we get a cold night it can 'push' the branch off. Thats what ive been told anyway! happens the same way to rocks
  6. i would just charge to do the job, then again, i dont advertise emergency work. i doubt anybody would ring at 1am? they would wait till the daylight and then its operating hours so why charge an extra fee?
  7. If they are similar to the county ones I.e ones made by Volkswagen in the 90s then this type of transit is like gold plated rocking horse poo! A steal at £2000
  8. Rob I'll show you the hedge on Saturday. You'll probably be glad you can't do it! Haha. Mistahben I'll keep you in mind certainly. May just need the extra pair of hands!
  9. A question can only be as stupid a you make it. Use your head. A switched in groundy will be one step ahead and will spot things others don't! As your climbers working. Keep looking At his kit I.e knots, ropes etc making sure they are all ok. Stuff like stopper knots are good to notice. Even if they aren't loose just ask the climber to check it so you know they are tight and won't come loose! It builds up the trust making him know you want him down in one piece as much as him! Coming from me, I was watching a climber clip a saw on his line to be sent down for refuelling and he missed the loop as he went to clip in and let go. The saw (ms260) came somersaulting down. I saw it as he dropped it and scarpered. Everyone else was taken aback as they were just having a minute and missed what happened. Certainly an eye opener!
  10. Im after 2 guys for some general labour, bit of saw work involved large, and i mean mahoosive conifer hedge to be reduced, ive got 4 days on it 17th/18th and 24th/25th to fit around my uni work. If you can climb by all means bring your kit on the first day, i will decide then if we need two guys climbing on the day. Ive already priced in for 2 guys wages. Phone me on 07841128366 to arrange it or if you have any questions Im located in st helens 10 minutes from m6 jct23, the job is pretty much across the road from base. tried asking other students but they arent in class enough so i can discuss anything with them! Cheers fellers!
  11. no thats just how things are in austrailia! Goog vid, but as steve said i would have liked to see some clsoe up of cutting and normal speed releasing of some of the lumps, i love hearing the crack crack crrrrrrrrrrrr swoooooosssssshhhhhhhhh as big pieces move about!
  12. thats not even the same tree, look to the right of the tree in the first pic (which has been taken from google street view!) there is a kerb and pavement being put in there, in the second pic, theres still grass! look also in the second pic at that huge root sticking out, look at the same place on the first pic, oh look, no root! Upon searching for this tree in chilton, there is no street view available in chorlton!
  13. I've confirmed that a small fire for food purposes will be ok. So feel free to bring that and I'll bring some logs down to leave on the fire. I'm looking forward to it

    Day Rate

I can operate as a 2 man team and I aim for £250/day. I just use a trailer. All I've got to cover is getting rid of a trailerload which is £25 and then wages for a second guy. Sometimes I don't need one. But if I don't I will charge 150-200 but it can depend on the job. I wish I could charge £1900 a day!
  15. It's basically a red and black husky 365 isn't it? You can run a 24 on it reasonably well.
  16. You should be fine then. I'm a 32 waist. I think these oaks will need deadwooding so any bits you can boot out you may aswell. I'll be taking my silky up to clear out any massive bits that may get in the way. Plus to clear a zipline path!
  17. No worries matey. Ray could just borrow one of ours while he has a try climb. Set up a nice self tending prussic or blakes and he should be good to go.
  18. Cool ray So far we've got Me Ed Robarb Robarbs friend? 18 stoner Ray Tom Mr spencer and his yellow climbing suit I may choose to match you on the day!
  19. Think you'd be best going down the trailer route. Then you've got a back bit for kit then. Although whether it's safe behind the canvas!
  20. It rained pretty hard today but they still didn't let us finish early at college!
  21. Awwww keeeevvvvvv! Ah well have a good weekend mate! Ray feel free to come down. You may even get a climb too. Whereabouts are you coming from?
  22. I've got 30-34 and Preston isn't far. Where exactly? Any more details on the job? I'll be available fully around the second week of december if the job runs long enough
  23. it would be a cracking day, theres a nice deli not far away in a nearby village, make some pretty nice butties. duck, spring onion and hoi sin baguette
  24. You've volunteered yourself now! Haha 18stoner: well I live there so I'll be there all day but the mrs finishes work half 6 so wasn't expecting long after then but will see how the day goes.
  25. I have a couple personal first aid kits and keep a bigger one in my truck. We have a couple inside buildings too but we aren't too near those. Although if we needed to get back there it's simple enough.
