  1. I've used a Lakeland suede protector spray on mine. To clean them I use the same stuff the mrs uses for her ugg boots. Makes em look pretty!
  2. I was trying to retrieve with mine and it was particularly stiff so I pulled and something went bang and now I can't fold it fully. Is there a warranty against this?
  3. It looks like 45m maybe for the size of that truck. I bet it feels like a mile when it's at full height and it's a tad breezy!
  4. I fall into that group.
  5. what are the noise levels like on the ms170/180 compared to a 260? are they pretty much equal? i know some domestic saws are a bit quieter because of the smaller engines. I think we will have some of the stihl ones next year. Im starting my research now! As long as it can run the 14" powersharp bars then ill be happy, as we are slowed down so much by conventional chains
  6. Yes you did read that right! Electric! We run two husky 321e saws for when we sell Christmas trees for shaping and trimming bases. Plus we are under a marquee so a petrol one running all day is mighty noisy. We have almost had two seasons out of these saws now. They don't half seem a bit tired though. Whether it's just us. Conditions are far from ideal. Cutting wood often with the grain with a blunt chain because the stumps are covered in soil. It's doing them no good! We run Oregon powersharps on then. Its a godsend. It's a case of oh this chains a bit blunt. I'll just sharpen it! Really simple. But the edge doesn't last long at all and sometimes we are sharpening 5 times a day when it gets busy. Next year we may replace them. They've certainly earnt their money in downtime and saved petrol and lots of shouting! I thought we could go to something like the stihl ms170. As they have that little bit more power. These electric ones clog up a lot and dont like being worked hard! Are there any other domestic saws which would be good? Anybody had any ratings on stihl electric saws? Anything we get would need to be able to run powersharp. Plus they need to be fairly quiet.
  7. Talking from a Students point of view. I see the rise in fees possibly increasing the value of the degrees and qualifications gained. If 200 people can get on a course and they all pass and go for the same 10 jobs then there would be no point for 190 of them as they would never get the job the want. However if only 2 people went on the same course and then had 10 job positions open. How much more would they be valued? With 10 places possibly fighting for them then it was worthwhile them going for the degree because they can command the money. Now because theres 200 people with the same degree. If one isn't cut out they find the next person with the same degree! My group of mates went to uni. I am forever seeing pictures of them drinking and messing around and wrecking their flats and stuff. I am nothing near the student stereotype. In my spare time out of uni I'm working for myself or doing assignments or with the other half. These raised fees won't affect me thankfully. I've got another year left doing my BSc. There are 27 people on my course at the moment doing a BSc and fdsc. The area is already full of people in the job. And now with another 20 plus coming in its going to devalue the qualification. The payment of these fees is available from April each year for voluntary payment. If you drop out of uni before November then you pay no fees. The only thing you pay back is the maintenance loan. The other half did 4 weeks of a course last year. Paid no tuition fees but just paid £800 of a maintenance loan. Which was the first instalment. I never actually planned to go to uni. As I didn't want to be 21 and with a big debt. But I chose to in my second year of college and I haven't looked back. Best thing I could have done! As with anything. There's people on this course that I don't think are suited to the industry at all. There are a few mature students. A couple are ok but others have been stuck behind a desk for 20+ years. Fair play to changing job. But I don't think they made the best choice! I don't associate myself with students like those in the protests. That was totally uncalled for and did nothing for their cause!
  8. You should have waited. There's a new version coming out in a couple of months with a camera and more features! I would have one already if I could afford it and stop buying kit!
  9. As soon as I saw the grass and the, I think, hypholoma? With bits of colour round the grass. I'd rumbled you. I've been an avid photoshopper for a while now. Not done as much as I've wanted to but I can still spot any photoshopping a mile off!
  10. videos like that make treework look cool! i loved the music. and the whole 'americanness' feel to the vid.
  11. happy birthday mr bolam cue the guitar solo!
  12. they must have had dulux treatment from the paramedics!
  13. We use them for cutting in considerably dirty conditions. Cutting muddy logs blunts even the Oregon multicut chain fairly quick. These powersharps are a bit of a godsend!
  14. how about just dog?
  15. we had just below freezing yesterday, now 7+ today. not much ice left now.
  16. always in undercrackers, cant sleep in clothes, mrs always wears pjs though, sometimes socks. i love getting into a freezing cold bed and warming it up.
  17. i wonder how many times the phrase 'ow my head' has been muttered whilst watching that work! its also a man size vibrator!

    step cut

not meaning to nitpick, you do have some good videos and some good crashing and bashing. But i have to point this out. In this second vid at about 1:25 you took BOTH hands off a RUNNING saw then stepped towards the end of the bar with a chain STILL spinning. Madness :confused1:
  19. weve got a full tengtools set, the big cabinet with 3 tiers, some tools have gone walkies from their original home, but they are all lifetime warranty. Any other tools that arent teng that we have feel cheaper for some reason, and weve snapped a few that arent teng. not had much use of halfords kit though.
  20. Really big boobs! That would be something to shout across a field hehe. How about zip? Or target? Or bob?
  21. Just found out one of the small ones have sold. Feel free to come down and do a couple of carvings. The live show might sell some more!
  22. None so far but had lots of interest. Shame really. I want them to sell!
  23. Just seen this on one of the many websites i look through in my spare time was an eye opener. This, Is Why You Don’t Race During The Day AT ALL [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGhPFfDj_dU&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Street Racing Collision[/ame] comment from driver: My day took an unexpected turn when a driver pulled out in front of me at a traffic light shortly after a "race". All 3 vehicles involved were totaled. Fortunately, thank God, nobody was killed. The only people that were seriously hurt were in the Mustang. They were taken away in an ambulance, but later recovered. Because of this accident, I ended up being sentenced to 120 days in jail, two years of probation, and 100 hours of community service. The driver of the Mustang was sentenced to six months of prison among other things. I do not recommend illegal street racing to anyone. It is highly dangerous. My life has been affected by this since it happened, which has been almost three years now. You could be the best driver in the world, but you never know what the other person is going to do.
  24. sure is a puzzler, do you tie one tighter than the other? is one foot bigger than the other meaning its a tight fit and blocking circulation a bit?
  25. do you remember to put your left boot on? I keep finding i get cold toes, the rest of my foot is warm but the toes in both feet are freezing when ive been walking around in the snow! i wear two thick socks and its making no difference
