  1. Well he wasnt getting on no plane so he did the next closest thing!
  2. It may take those few seconds longer. But going slow builds confidence in what you do, then your confidence builds your speed. So what difference would it make to clip in? Personally I think not taking a strop up is daft, you never know when you may need it. In the unlikely event you drop your line, and your on something sizeable. You've either gota wait for an aerial rescue or freeclimb down which could end badly! I've had it drummed into my to use my strop. I probably use it more than I need. But if I feel safer doing so, why not?
  3. I echo weedees final comment there! I always use it. Sometimes two if I feel I have to. Depending on what I'm climbing. It's either using the other end of my climbing line or a second strop. Soft strop for silky climbing and wirecore for spiking and saw work. Why would you not bother with an essential piece of kit? Relying on one tie in point? All it takes is one youth from your silky to nick it and your out the tree!
  4. The laburnum is just over half a load in my hilux an to fill it with spalted beech which is in various sizes I would want £100 for the truck full. There is a lot of beech. A lot has been ringed for firewood and wouldn't be many large pieces left but I can have a dig through for a few pieces. There's a spalted beech mushroom carved a couple of weeks ago which would look amazing once it's been rubbed down and smooth.

  5. No worries. I sent that from my phone. Bit sad that I could remember it off the top of my head!
  6. I only use my silky if I cut and chuck. Which tends to be on conifers. Spike up taking the branches of as I go up. Use the tophandle on the way down chogging as I go. Done in an hour for most. Silky helps drag out the process if there's nothing else to do. Plus I can stack brash as I'm going!
  7. Click at top view>toolbars>navigation bar. Or right click just below there where ther isn't a button and click to turn navigation on.
  8. you have pretty much copied me for range of saws, although im still on a 260, i have the same other 2 saws. Ive not had a go on the 261, but like the looks of it and would like to have the more up to date saw tbh, when working near conifers and tight spaces those fumes really make it difficult!
  9. no delivery is extra, as im coming to huddersfield from st helens.

all i have is laburnum and some beech which has some good spalted pieces

  10. yale double esterlon 19mm, the blue one, youll probably struggle to get close to half its breaking strain if you tried!
  11. hi steve is there any chance you could let me know what my first set of tickets were? bought them early december, ive managed to delete the message, i think they were yellow?

  13. With a face like mine, I don't need a passport! The laburnum I have was cut in late October 2010. Been sat in the shed since
  14. I might have a job to do in Huddersfield in the next couple of weeks or so. I could bring it to you if your close?
  15. my theory is they punch the keypad and round whatever number it is up. Then add a zero!
  16. And maybe get a new rope in the process! Plaiting the inner core would save space wouldn't it?
  17. Mine is currently just below £1300 with 2 years no claims. On a tin can citroen c1 998cc. That's the cheapest anywhere!
  18. Ian is correct I have a few lumps of laburnum sat in the shed. I'm over in st Helens
  19. I like the snickers work pants. Lots of pockets and fairly loose so allow lots of movement. You can put knee pads in them too!
  20. No problem Steve. I donated another £25 worth this afternoon. Fancy my chances this year. But I never win anything *sob*
  21. My hilux is for sale. 1999/2000 v reg. Done 125000 miles and we've owned it since new. It's been a workhorse and shows the scars!
  22. i think the main problem is that its got a name that isnt german weve got a 357, probably about 5 years old now easily, not had a single problem with it. and it hasnt always been looked after the best!
  23. it is a wonder how little you do actually trust your life on, but have they actually failed? as you tension it the rope squashes together and its a like a finger trap, the harder you pull, the harder it squashes together. Have you ever spliced 16 strand dean? the final bury is a bit of a nightmare, as its a lot to go down a little hole!
  24. Why were you filing your dogs hole? Surely he can sit level on his own?? I'll be down at the dealer in the next day or two buying parts! Mainly replacing broken stuff!
  25. We've had a dusting of that White powdery rubbish last night! Blooming weather! Grrrrrrr....
