  1. Cool. I was aware of the low profile and full size but thought there were different sizes of full size in gauge. Looks like I'll get a play with my new toy tomorrow then!

    Quickie

Just a quick one. Will the bar and chain from my 039 go onto my 660? I know both are 3/8" bar and chain. But are there different types of 3/8" chain? It's a by cloudy for me this one!
  3. I've decides to try and make more money than last year! Then I'll go and do my 3rd year at uni
  4. They look like they might be a bit comfier because it would spread out the pressure on your leg. People with skinny legs might not fit in them properly. And also people with large legs may squeeze into them. I couldn't figure out what I was looking at. I thought they were light crampons or something then saw the shank and spike.
  5. I'm after a small axe for splitting kindling. It's mainly broken up pallets so is easy enough to knock through with a good axe. But we seem to have misplaced our last one. Plus it was old and a b&q special. I've seen one for around £30 which looked the dogs danglies. But what other makes would you recommend?
  6. apparently using the claws from a male wolf and putting them on a necklace made of its tail hair will make you have no fear! Just kidding. Saw these and thought they would be a great alternative! Wold Claw Tree Climbing Boot Harness
  7. Is there no USB cable? Blutooth is only good for hands free IMO
  8. FYI tractor buckets and clearing ice. You can't see grids or raised flags or anything. Until you've clattered them, bent something and flipped them out the ground. And hit the windscreen! We have the winter contract down on the seaforth docks container terminal in Liverpool. We spent 6 hours with a small tractor, a bigger one and a bobcat all with ordinary buckets. The bigger tractor driven by my dad hit a grid with the edge of the bucket. He must have been doing 10-15mph and the tractor stopped dead. Took a chunk out the manhole cover and flipped it 6ft! The bobcat also managed to lift out a manhole cover. I was a bit more cautious but still hit a Grid. You don't half think oh bejeeus what was that! My advice, stay slow. Keep your bucket at a shallow angle so it's not trying to dig under stuff, almost level with a few degrees of bite on it is sufficient, it's easy enough to figure out. Just drive with it until it clears everything after you've adjusted it. I had to do a block paved area with the little tractor. Keeping it nice and shallow meant it cleared ice and snow but didn't try to lift any stones!
  9. three strand is a good all rounder!
  10. I've got an 18" bar to go straight on. I think it will love it! I'll buy a 24" too so I've got a range of bars with it. My 260 can now be used with a 13" to keep it nimble! I had a rev up before. Sweet music!
  11. My mum went to austrailia for this Christmas and as it's my birthday too she felt bad so made up for it with loads of presents. Doesn't beat having her here though! I got a 660 as a joint present from my mum and dad and loads of cool presents from my girlfriend. Got a pair of timberland walking boots which are black and red with red laces. They Match my meindls! Got two bonsai trees. Two little Chinese elms, Zelkova serrata. Gonna grow em huge and do an indoor stunt fell with the 660 Had a massive grin on my face all day!

  13. Who else is as unlucky as me?! All the best guys. Have a fun and safe Christmas and new year! Been a great year. Made better, and bearable, by this great forum! Thanks Steve!
  14. surely if other mixes worked better, wouldnt the manufacturers be recommending it? 50:1 in everything, 5 ltr exactly of petrol, one still oil shot washed out with fuel from tank gives a perfect mix!
  15. we bought two for our little electric saws, as they were always cutting in dirty conditions the normal chains would be blunt fairly quick, got two of these, after a month of using them and giving them a lot of abuse, i rate them very well and would recommend them for small saws.
  16. I didn't see last years. I didn't know the saw shop would give me one! It's half the cost going getting it. I'd rather pay for it to come to me! It's very distracting. To say the least!
  17. I got mine off eBay. £10 altogether! His shop name is kwikchip or something. Easy enough to find it.
  18. Who's got one or getting one? I got mine today. If only female arbs looked, and dressed, like that! Not to be sexist in any way! The cover may be family unfriendly so I've not posted it.
  19. i agree witrh high scale, a bearing on a machine like that, to last 5 years, i wouldnt expect to get more than that out of it, any noise is a bad noise!
  20. I've just got one of those for my birthday! Yet to have a go though!
  21. It made me feel good all day anyway! Ed if you buy me one for Christmas I'll wear it and set up a speedline across something haha. It'll be like I'm flying!
  22. Snowy Christmas trees Cars always have a face. Even more so in the snow
  23. We've got a navara d40 with general grabber a/t tyres. In 4wd its been great on the snow so far I would imagine the disco to be awesome!
  24. I had a bit of an episode today. I dropped my mum off at manchester airport and as I was leaving. A Renault Clio was two cars in front in the inside lane of the exit route. It was two lanes and we were coming up to a slip road which would make it into three. In the outside lane there was a taxi. With a few other cars behind it. Everything was normal. Until the clio just touched the snow at the side of the road. Which then sent it into a spin, it went front first into the central barrier in front of the taxi. The taxi braked but still give the Clio a good whack and set the curtain airbags off. Me and the girlfriend were in the naval with all the gritting gear on. I saw all this happening and I couldn't drive past. So I put on the flashing lights and pulled over in front of the taxi and Clio which was facing the wrong way at an angle against the barrier. The taxi driver was out his car and waving to the girl inside the Clio who was in hysterics. He was trying to get the door open. With no luck. I took charge of it all and went round the passenger side door which I could open a little bit enough for me to get in. The girl was crying a shaking and not in a good state. She wasn't injured, she had been bashed on the hip where the taxi had pushed her door in but the door took the force and the airbag next to her stopped her getting any more injuries. I put my arm round her and just started to reassure her and talk to her to calm her down. It worked and managed to establish her name and where she was hurt. I encouraged her to make her way out the car. She managed to get out and we got her to the side of the road. I then found out there were two passengers in the taxi, who were going home from an abandoned honeymoon due to 2 day delays. The woman was severely shaken and had hit her shoulder. The guy was shaken also but was more concerned for his wife. Just after it had happened a guy from st johns ambulance was coming down the slip road and he pulled over and started to help. He phoned the police. I was about to as he asked. My priority was making sure the girl was alright. The ambulance turned up about 5 minutes later. The police about 20! The.police stopped the traffic and a highways agency truck dragged the Clio to a spot on the hard shoulder. I did attempt to drive it as the car still worked but the steering was gone so I couldn't do anything. Me and the cabbie moved our vehicles to the hard shoulder across the slip road. His taxi had some minor front damage. The people in the taxi got a free ride home. But were leaving after we were told we could. We both gave our contact details as witnesses. The taxi driver and couple were very grateful. The girl was taken onto the ambulance to be assessed at the hospital. Some good karma for Christmas I think!
  25. I'll be having three meat on Christmas. Turkey beef and ham and possibly chicken also. Boxing day some more turkey. I'm gonna be a stone heavier by January!
