  1. wouldnt it affect my GTW? i thought it was only around 3.5t i could be getting confused here.
  2. bet that made for some serious undergarment redecoration! i had the bright idea once of just cutting a cable to my old freeview box, i couldnt find which plug it was and it was a faff to even follow the cable, so i just got my multitool out with pliers on and cut it, they were all metal, it made a bang and now its welded some copper to the cutting edges, it tripped NOTHING! it made a hell of a bang. I made a resolution to unplug stuff first!
  3. hmmm, im split now, a schliesing weighs a lot so i can only get a handful of chip and im overweight, id be pulling it with a navara d22 2.5tdi. but with the TW and the greenmech quadchip looking a contender, although the price will be an issue, their trailed weights are attractive!
  4. If we were iminent on buying a chipper, i will be going through my trailer test, i do have a good amount of experience and was thinking about just going for the test with no instruction. Ive driven with big trailers before and got good experience with tractors and trailer which iimo are harder!
  5. We run a JD 6330 which is hired from rowlands. We had one with front linkage since march and just swapped it for one with a front loader. As we need the loader for gritting. It's used for mainly grasswork so has turf tyres. But still gets it turn to get dirty. Does everything we need and at 120hp it's a powerful machine.
  6. I've not looked much into greenmech. I'm hearing good things about the new models. But I'm seeing more of the others available second hand. What's the equivalent greenmech? What price range am I looking at for a similar model?
  7. im looking around for a chipper to buy in the new year possibly, and im stuck between a schleising and a TW, ive seen a 440 which is a 9" and would tackle everything i needed, and i would aim for a TW 190 which is a 7.5". Im just after reviews on them, ive noticed the schleising is a 1999 machine, but ive used a PTO one before and it was a very solid machine and gave us no grief. Ive used a PTO timberwolf and it seemed less solid, like you had to be a bit more careful with it! Any opinions would help! THanks
  8. i have a silver ring and a dark grey one, then when i climb on a system that looks the same i.e. two blakes with red and white xtc on red and white xtc rope, its a little less confusion.
  9. did he enjoy climbing it that much?
  10. i like my stihls, had one pair for almost 3 years now. Not done loads of work but theyve done well! when i buy my next pair i think ill get some stretchies, ive got a hi viz pair and love how comfy they are
  11. are the ear defenders a sordin or peltor attachment?
  12. My next guess would have been a Mycena! I couldn't think of anything else at the time.
  13. oyster mushroom? porcelain mushroom? merip in its deadwood feeder form?
  14. my real name is princess consuiela banana-hammock. but its a bit too long to put as a username here
  15. i second that, all my petzl stuff seems superior to everything else, the carabiners just feel better in a way. i check everything as much as i can, i have some of the DMM sentinel carabiners, bought two to use purely on my saw strop, now i just use one on the end and clip the ring onto a petzl caritool. dont use them for climbing though. the petzl ones i find clean easier.
  16. After really dirty job I clean them with brake cleaner. As that evaporates! Then wither graph powder or wd. Depends which is closer to hand!
  17. Wd40 works well too. Robarb had a sticky crab that wouldn't even attempt to close. Bit of a squirt with wobbly-d and it was springing back shut within a minute!
  18. It's gone up to eleventy nine now
  19. I've got a chipper in my sights. Depending how well we do on Christmas trees this year. To stop Cameron and his goonies taking profits in tax we will spend it on a new chipper hopefully! Wouldnt mind a 660!
  20. I got my airstreams at the apf. Love them! Not found a single gripe with them yet. I'm between a size 9/10 so bought a size 9 and I prefer it the slightly smaller fit. Feel more like trainers. Can't comment on the zermatts.
  21. What sizes are you after? I may be able to help.
  22. We own and run Christmas tree land. We currently have about 23000 growing in the field. We deal with large trees each year averaging about 25-40ft. We import noble fir, nordman fir, we grow our Fraser fir, import norway spruce and scots pine. We shift thousands each year. We did have a booking online section but sold that side a few years ago. We get fairly busy!
  23. you are indeed lucky for that one. if that had gone into your tendon then its pretty much game over from the climbing and being active point of view for a while! it was like that for me today, a horrible hedge with all sorts of old dead growth from previous 'overzealous pruning' and i just wanted to cut everything in my way! there was some bits that where just a bit close to me, one piece of ded wood was poking me in the love spuds and the thought crossed to cut that but then thought hmmm. no thanks id rather have 2 of these!
  24. Yet you still see people just using normal steelies! How exactly did you do that?
  25. i would definatly find some way of bracing it with a winch, if you can gingerly get to the top and attach a strop or even one half way and winch it back and keep it solid then it could be done. Like others said, bugger the greenhouse, cheaper to replace a few panes and maybe just tap the frame with a hammer than to faff missing it all, to have something go through anyway! to take that down alone id charge at least £200, if it was still standing! i reckon its roots were buggered when the foundations for the shed were put in!
