  1. Gross have you not looked into some tougher needle resistant gloves? May be a bit more expensive but will protect your hands against thorns. Other than that get used to being stabbed and go for cheaper pairs of gloves?
  2. As always I did think of you rob but I understand you work. I'd ask you otherwise!
  3. if people help me i help them, simples. Good karma and all that!
  4. does anybody have a dedicated resue kit? im asking because im thinking of getting the bits together for my own, including a rope and harness, i have a spare rope and have found a few cheap harnesses that would be ok. i have seen stein have a kit out for £80, but was thinking of buying similar parts to equip it for a few methods of rescue. What do you think?
  5. My mistake. It's Aughton. Didn't know there was no H!
  6. It's near Ormskirk. I'll confirm the spelling.
  7. I'm after a guy to help me take down a chestnut. It needs to be lowered so rigging experience is a must. It's been pollarded in the past so there's not much crown in relation to stem. There's an adjacent ash which requires a dead limb to be removed low down. I have some basic rigging kit which should be enough to take it down. Thanks for reading Contact me at 07841128366 or pm me.
  8. thanks dave, had a look through there and it gives some ok information but as its just a report of whats happened it may be limited, as i have to look in to these further. Ill have to see what the tutor says. its a tough one really, as the learning outcomes are difficult to meet whilst still being ethical and having a good assignment!
  9. Thanks dave, that does help somewhat, but as the subject is Work Skills Development, this has to be a liaison with a company, i would happily conjure something up myself but half of this assignment is to demonstrate working relationships, so I have to get out there and ask, I thought this could be a handy gateway of maybe gaining a few contacts, although a subject like this is quite sensitive and people may be reluctant to release such information, other students are having similar problems with their topics due to this. IM going to speak to the tutor and see if something of my own account could be used, although What i have experienced may not be enough to warrant a full presentation and report, i may have to include a couple of case studies.
  10. A man sat in a bar after a long night of drinking says to the landlord "I better get back to the misses before she kicks off at me for staying out all night" so he gets up and walks to the door but falls flat on his face before he gets to the door, he says "my god it seems I hav had a skinfull tonight" he gets up an grabs hold of the door. When he opens the door he attempts to walk home but falls flat on his face on the street, he says "I really have had to much to drink tonight I better crawl home" fortunately he lives just next to the pub and it wasn't to far for him to crawl. He gets to his house and crawls upstairs to bed and falls asleep. The next morning he wakes up and his wife says "you had a fair few pints last night didn't you" and he says "how do you know?" his wife replies "Mick from the pub rang up this morning saying that you left your wheelchair there last night".
  11. Hey guys I'm in need of some info for my work skills assignment I am after information on how training and skill development benefits people in the industry, I want to look at this in a few parts, how just training people can affect work practice, either by making it safer or slowing it down, or how skill development by gaining experience through actively working can make you just as safe if not safer, quicker and more efficient. In order to make this hit the learning outcomes, I need a case study, which is where it may get tricky. I m after information where ther has been an incident of some severity which has required a review of work practices and health and safety policies in some way. I'm a little stumped by this and I know it may be difficult because of the topic, but my tutor has approved this. If anybody can help there are a few options for contact, drop a PM on here, email me at [email protected] Or [email protected] Phone or text on 07841 128 366 This is mainly aimed at business owners or managers as I need to have reference to companies within this assignment. This will be a written report on this topic and then followed by a 20 minute presentation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Yeah that came up. That is a lot of trees! What sort of scale are you planting?
  13. Click go advanced or post reply and choose manage attachments. Then choose a piccy. That one isn't showing for me!
  14. 8mm maillon through the hole and into a snap lock. Perfect IMO!
  15. In what way? To get them in straight lines? Or to track how many have been planted? We used a quad bike for planting ours in relatively straight and close lines.
  16. My granddad has the heart of a lion and a lifetime ban from Edinburgh zoo.
  17. I took this Thai bird back to my hotel last night. I was just about to rip her knickers off when I saw an allergy advice sign on them. It said "Warning: May Contain Nuts".
  18. My thought would be a degrading flammulina velutipes. Due to a the cluster and colouring.
  19. i did the same project last year, on a very similar subject, i did it on training and CPD. ill see what i can dig out, i had some problems with the powerpoint presentation which didnt fair too well for me.
  20. Well December is my birthday month so I'm happy with that. I wish she would come round and give me a present!
  21. I thought they wanted that out first. It would have been a real shame! Although the wood would have made me some wedge! Haha excuse the pun! Glad it's staying though! Monster of a tree. Biggest in the area!
  22. Now she isn't next to me I'll say December! Or that one in the White bikini with the jetwash! It's the best reason to spend time in there. Although I have my little heaters on and it gets toasty in there. Vents in the roof stop it getting too stuffy. Perfect!
  23. I was taking about 6 inches off a hedge, it was about 30" thick and was using a saw with a 24" bar to walk along and chop it to where I wanted it. Out comes the neighbour kicking of because I'm cutting into their half of the hedge! I just tidied up what I had cut and left a stupid looking step. It was being taken down ffrom about 6' to about 5'6". If you wanted you could look over but you didn't need to. The customer wanted it to be manageable for herself which is what it was after I'd done it. The neighbour took me upstairs in her house to make me look at how stupid I'd made the hedge look. When she was making herself look more stupid tbh.
  24. Hopefully. There's some good work here. More from them in the future too hopefully if it all goes well. The pine and the sycamore want coming out. Sycamore is almost dead and doesn't look to clever especially because it's near the house!
  25. heres some pics from my outings today, i love my monkeypuzzle shot, taken with my iphone camera, just thought it would look good, came out a cracker! the pine apparently came down with a whoossshhh as it was full of snow!
