  1. Very interested in this, will call tommorrow morning as its late now. Looking for a new direction and a start in the industry, have plenty of hard work behind me. Currently saving for CS tickets. I drive, live 20 mins away from Wigan, will go into more detail on the phone. Cheers Will.

    Running

Have been training hard for the Marines for a long time, running about 25 miles a week, most weeks for ages.. I have not lost any muscle mass ever, i have only continued to grow because i still go gym and contunue with my 'bodybuilding' routines ive been into for years, and have kept the diet right, mostly...Have looked a bit minging when bodyfat gets a bit too low and get pumped up, vein city! Eat right, continue to use your muscles you have built up as usual, and you will be fine.
  3. What Arb qualifications have you all had to be emigrating to such places? Looking foreward to one day getting some working visa's
  4. Ah i see i see. Sorry, must get a bit repetitive after a while for the regular users of this site.
  5. At what? Still getting to grips with this site.
  6. Yeah i meant do the 5 day course, looking to do it at Myerscough, however they dont rent out equipment it seems . I was reading through past posts and see comments of people struggling who already have experience...got me wondering. Thanks for the replies.
  7. Is this normal and ok to do or will they tell me to bugger off? I have never touched a chainsaw :laugh1:and i want to get these tickets to help me get a job. Cheers
  8. Want to become a good tree surgeon...Im getting confused with all the different courses. Are the tech certs in Arb level 2 and 3 as good as having a National Diploma in Arb? I could afford to get the Arb degree if needed as you can get the usual student funding and have time to work plenty on the side if this would be the best. I am 22 and do not really want to go to Mysercough for two years full time to do the National Diploma as i think money would be tight, only £30 per week ALG n that.. Would like to emigrate later in life doing this job (Aus, NZ possibly) so would need some decent qualifications to back me i think.
  9. Thanks for the replies. Have sent quite a few enquiries out today for working for min wage trying to get my foot in the door etc, explaining ive every intention of paying for my tickets myself soon as i can afford etc. I have got 5 weeks before i go, lets hope somthing will come up before then. If it doesnt i guess i will be better off going in anyway.
  10. Hello all. So have finally come accross the perfect career it would seem. Graft, outdoor work, and climbing. Perfect. Currently am 22 based in Lancashire, do not hold any Arboriculture qualifictations. Really wish i had done the relevant ND after school, but do not think its feasable to do the ND now...need to earn to eat etc etc. Anyway i am at a major pivoting point in my life, i am set to go into the Royal Marines in a couple of weeks. I will be at least 26-7 before i could leave, i then would love to become a tree surgeon, however would like some advice on how difficult this move would be at such and age and wether it would be easier/better to start on the path now instead, but due to the current climate would it even be feasable? If the oppourtunity were to arise now i would take it. But have searched for apprenticeships in my area to no avail, and cant afford at the moment to pay for all the NPTC tickets to make me attractive to potetial employers for any related jobs, and can you even get started with just NPTC tickets? What would be the best move if i decided to start my tree surgery career now? ...Obtain all relavant NPTC tickets off my own back somehow and approach potential employers looking for work or just experience. Once i manage this then studying a degree or tech cert part time or by distance learning to get myself the proper formal Arboriculture knowledge. Would this lead to me being a credible professional at the job? Anyway sorry for the long/mixed up post, and some advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
