  1. I saw that straight away! It's in EA. They should know better!
  2. Haha that's brilliant
  3. Have you put a picture of the oak with G. australe up before? It seems familiar?
  4. The cheek plates are the same size, but the pulley wheel inside is different!
  5. What about if you use green oil?
  6. Good call on that. Only the pros see things like this! The hazard beam was ok, would have been good with a bit of weight reduction, it would close up in a couple of seasons.
  7. I would have cut it and said 'you'll thank me later!'
  8. Be a politician and claim it in expenses
  9. Elastic band? I have a jawbone. Works well. Quality is good for what you get and is loud enough for me driving my noisy french box at 80mph on the motorway.
  10. Because our industry cares for trees and manages them according to their situation, if I am brought in to advise on a tree, I would recommend my opinion on the situation, in this one, due to its location, I would recommend removing some trees and pruning others hard. You can assess these trees all you want, use fancy equipment costing thousands, but knowledge of tree/fungi interactions and having a good understanding gives good reason to have the flash tools as more of a last resort!
  11. I sliced A chunk off the tip of my finger on Sunday making some chips. Now I've had to pay an extra guy to work on my jobs because I can barely do anything without knocking it and making it bleed! Oh yeah and it didn't hurt when I did it, but it did like to bleed. Cue me going pale white and not being much good at standing up!
  12. ive got the rigging book, what else is in your collection?
  13. ive climbed with two phones in my pocket for a while now, little bit of sawdust but no damage, handy if you want a quick pic too! If im doing firewood in the yard i have my headphone wire up my shirt and then under my ear defenders, ive got some Bose Triport IE headphones. they are good at blocking noise out as they are, with those in, i have it at medium volume, i can hear music fine over my 660 with its loud exhaust. i wouldnt use it on a takedown though, i like to hear everything.
  14. a combination of an iphone with the headphones they provide would be good, as it is also a hands free kit so you can get the groundy to phone you while you explain things instead of shouting! I used to have a phone pouch zip tied to my harness, i would sit my phone in that and play music during rec climbs, makes it more enjoyable.
  15. good job tony, not as big as mine from the other week but you made that one look much better!
  16. Steve there is an app called SLR cameras for dummies on the app store. Very simple to understand and helped me learn how to get a better grip of the camera. Macro shots depend on the lens, what lens do you have? There is a little flower icon on the lens which then has a distance next to it, my 18-55mm lens has the symbol and 0.25m next to it. That means that the closest you can get for a macro shot is 0.25m otherwise you can't focus on it. To get a better shot I use manual focus as auto picks the closest bit so is tricky. Manual means you can get a more rounded focus of the whole subject.
  17. So to tow a 750kg trailer with a 4x4 truck plated at more than 2751kg I will need an operators license? It confuses me this stuff!
  18. just a trim total weight removed: 10 TONS
  19. as they were dead they are able to be felled, however usually with some notice to the council, usually trees are required to be replanted in their place.
  20. what books in particular are you after? i have a fair size collection here
  21. Ganoderma resinaceum - Lacquered Bracket - David Humphries’s Fungi Directory - Arbtalk.co.uk | Discussion Forum for Arborists Selective delignifier, can cause failure/windthrow
  22. seconded! Pleurotus ostreatus - Oyster - David Humphries’s Fungi Directory - Arbtalk.co.uk | Discussion Forum for Arborists
  23. i buy it because i know what it does, i then learn how to use it. low and slow!
  24. if your taking a good bit off i climb up through, if its just a little trim ladders are good. Long reach cutters help a lot!
  25. I know those trees! May go and have a gander. Quite interesting. It's a shame that some of them will have to come out though. some nice specimens. What do you think, RobArb me and detritus, all done on a Sunday?
