  1. It is possible. I think it's a 10 tooth. I did think about getting one for mine to run a 13" bar
  2. i only use ladders for hedges, even then only if necessary, i much prefer to climb around on top if i can! ladders are no good against trees because the tree tends to be slippy and the moment a ladder twists or slips slightly thats me done!
  3. Not viewable on mobile
  4. I use the female system. Much more organised than the male system!
  5. It will always land expensive side down

    Why...

Here's something to ponder When you put Ice in your drink, the ice melts and the water level doesn't rise, why are people saying sea levels are rising because the ice caps are melting?
  7. Tony I've got access to a lot of scientific papers of you ever want me to search for some. I've got a few good ones already.
  8. They will sell to professional users as per stihls policy. The best thing to do is give them a call.
  9. Oh it already is!
  10. We have 1 in the house and it goes up 2 days before Christmas! We are so busy selling them we don't get time for anything else!
  11. That's only 2/3rds. There's another field been planted early this year with another 10000. We are planning to be completely self sufficient within the next 10 years.
  12. That included my dinner break. I'm not a speedy climber but I'm getting there. Today was a good climb for me. Ignore that one branch in top middle. I don't know what happened there!
  13. Euc from today. Been pruned badly on the car park side so was very bushy on that side and bare on the other. Quite a few branches were dead so took them out too. Biggest tree I've reduced so far. 6 hours of climbing. I'm pleased with the result.
  14. The chute of the chipper was at the same level as the roof of the chip box. Some bits went over the top, others bounced off the crossbeam and when full bits were bouncing back out. There was a lot on the floor!
  15. I'll second that comment. If left this one would see veterancy! Odd to see it so big on a small stem!
  16. Hmmm. Give me a day or so. Ill sort something
  17. A nice hazard beam from our woods. I will climb this tree eventually and get some nice close up shots
  18. Is there limit to reviews submitted?
  19. I don't recommend it for anything other than little garden trees. I mean having a climb while your climbing system is loose. Not technically free climbing but is a good way of getting a feel for balance.
  20. It's environmentally friendly too! 6. Chain oil: Motor oil SAE 10W30
  21. i was in a similar position but not as severe, i didnt like climbing onto my own feet on my first days of the climbing course, i always liked having my weight in the harness and it would take me ages to climb anything, now freeclimbing is fun and makes the job a lot easier sometimes. i found it was trust in kit, but go up to a nice long branch on a tree and go out a little bit, then jump off and swing back in, do that till you feel good about it then keep increasing the distance you do the swing up to a safe level where you arent taking tarzan wings across a tree, but doing nice controllable swings where you wont hit anything that could hurt. pushing your comfort zone is what its all about!
  22. take about a 1/3rd of that off in the pic, we left some on site, but what was left took about 15 minutes including resting, its not too bad, although i am now thinking of converting it into a tipper.
  23. A job from Liverpool docks this morning. On site for 7am. Off site at 9.30am. 6 alders. All came down well with rate-my-hinge thread worthy hinges No I did not drive home with a truck that full. I needed some room for kit so we left some in a flowerbed
  24. Pics of our trees. Only got a few
  25. THanks for the extra photos Annie, its probably a trick of the camera, but does the base of the stem around the buttresses look swelled slightly to anyone? its tricky to tell but may not be. the crown does look thinner than it should be in the shot of the fungi and two holes, looking along the stem, there is an 'indent' this could indicate some decay caused by the fungi you see, and a sign of a cavity behind, however, i may be corrected by more experienced folk on that bit. Not that we are trying to frighten you, these are all professional observations.
