  1. i worked wiv a chap who had the op, i think he was only off for 6 weeks at the most. this was a few years ago tho, he shook worse than rigging the top off a pine!!! he seemed ok once back to work, tho he only did grounding. get a heated handle will help reduce any shakes.
  2. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm shiny
  3. hiya nod! hows things? any more splicing courses in the pipeline? im thinking of an 11mm one, such as the velocity, blaze, poison ivy standard. im also thinkin of having a semi organised reccy climb sometime in april if you fancy a climb and bringing a van load of kit?

  4. always go for one that looks lively, and has large pincers, and comes from a sustainable source. well, u did ask!
  5. il be honest, iv been registered to be an assessor for 2 years now, and i still havent done my technical verification yet! i think its a decent thing to have if you can get there!
  6. get yerself a net rope bag (weaver do one) and some specialist cleaner such as the Beal version. less harmful than ordinary detergent. give landmark a ring on 01780 482231, or email; [email protected] they will help you, their good peeps.
  7. girth hitch the strop to the saw, use an isc gator snap on the mid ring, and an isc mighty mouse on the strop/harness atatchment.
  8. bit of a long shot, but il ask anyway. im after a urea applicator brush and bottle if you do them, ie a 5l bottle and the cap has holes and a brush atached for manual aplicating. used for chainsaw felling as the harvesters have a system built into the head.it would be luvley if you could have a look, thanks.

  9. hiya, on my 39 i only cut a branch off in log sized bits, i neva did an upright bit. wouldnt that come under 41? as the obvious attatchment points would be hard to get? i did actualy do mine about nine years ago!!
  10. WE HAVE DATES. The poleclimbing dates that have been posted contain links, if you follow the links you will find other events at the same competition. there are logging and carving comps at all of these. ie..felling, axe racing, carving, due to the itinerary, it may only be possible to do all or one event, you will have to contact the organiser.
  11. Hiya Lil'pole!! have u thought about doing other comps? theres a few about. if you need to ask any daft questions theres loads of peeps here to waffle on about it!! are you up for a reccy climb later in the year? look on my thread of "comp standard trees", il post more info later.:001_tt2:

  12. a good book. also try the new "to fell a tree" by jeff jepson, (the same bloke who wrote the tree climbers companion). however be aware of the "americanisms", such as weight refs, and ansi regs. also try the arb assoc's books. they basicaly say the same as the above, but with english refs, they are currently revising the guide to good climbing practice, and are allegedly working on a rigging guide.
  13. hiya peeps!, thought id put this up here instead of the other forum. APF comp details will be posted on their website mid febuary. APF 2010, the UK?s largest forestry and arboricultural exhibition is returning to the same location as its hugely successful 2008 event.
  14. Good Work littletree!!! maybe you should change your nick to littlePOLE!!!
  15. i wish! id luv to. its just not possible. r u up 4 a play in the trees?
  16. generaly i use a yale blaze and a 3m rope strop w/a vt knot n pulley, on a takedown il use a 3m flipline w/a isc micrograb. the flipline is just a standard eye at each end, so i just stick a 3way krab on it.
  17. inc or ex vat? what about freebies? i could do with a new tshirt or two!! are they ok for me to collect it as im not too far from wellingboro, stuff the p n p!! i kno they dont have a showroom persay.
