  1. Short answer, no, thats gone too far, ok to brace if you suspect failure may happen , not when its showing, and bracing is not something i would ever recommend, its an admission of a defect and most insurance companies would question it should failure occur, all depends on the target value.
  2. Builders do it all the time, why should we be any different, do you price work you can't in theory report on, or advise on, or recommend, not having a dig , just commenting on your comment, theoretically we should not even advise or make any sort of recommendation without professional indemnity insurance , which you will not get in most cases without a recognised REAL arb qualification, not just a npt cert . Think how many people price work without a chipper, it goes on, and a lot worse. Think how many people do tree work without being properly qualified, the arb industry is way behind a lot of other industries. In all my years i have never been asked to provide any evidence of my certificates or my arboricultural qualifications, sad really, as they took so long to get.
  3. Hi Dean, just been reading all the posts, has mine got delay fitted and which control system is on it, looking forward to getting it, and can you supply Reds as well as Greenteeth I lost the photos you sent me on my emails.
  4. Mine is on ebay have a peep, its under stump grinders GH 64 just to give you an idea of what you can get away with.
  5. I have a Ifor Williams GH 6X4 plant trailer, double leaf springs, spring assisted tail gate and mesh infill on the gate, about 2 years old, got it for a tw150 tracked and a predator 28 going on ebay soon, it worked great for that.
  6. Sorry, i always double post, but should have said, i was one of the first uk contractors to own a stump grinder, back then it was a Promark toe clipper, those old boys out there will know the machine, made me lots of money, over the years i have had from new Vermeer, Carlton, Predator and 2 years ago Jo Beau, the only machine punching way above the rest is the Jo Beau and this could be the first time for me i have bought two Jo Beau's, from new. Thats how good they are.
  7. One last thing, don't forget as well as being the most productive, agile, compact, best built and lightest grinder in its class it also grinds the deepest of all the grinders 500mm below ground level, come on Dean, sell me another jo beau 31-110
  8. PM me Dean with a price whatever you think, let me know the new price then at least if i put it on arbtrader it will be priced attractively. thats the jo beau m500 or drop me an email you have my address . Thanks. just looked at the hour clock its on 14.1
  9. Yes, would not be without it, also its weight , its just over half the weight of a predator , is it 600kg ? about. Another handy trick, from the back of the truck it can be ramped up onto retaining walls, did one a few weeks ago in Lyme and the wall was close to 7' high, backed up and ramped it on top, job done. I am going to be selling my Jo Beau m500 chipper , going to buy the new tw230, know anyone who would like a 5 month old machine ? its only done about 15 hours from new or a tw dealer to trade it to ?
  10. See if this link works Predator Wheel - Greenteeth if i did keep mine this is what i was going to put on.
  11. In fact, after thinking about it, while you machine is still looking good see if you can trade it for a jo Beau, and save some money on repairs and make money on productivity. Your would probably get back what you paid for it, i did, didn't loose a penny on what i paid just on down time, i dont often post about grinding but the JB grinder is the muts nuts.
  12. You wont like this... that multi tip system is too aggressive for your machine and its belt and clutch. The green wheel is only one concept i think is good in principle. My system uses Green teeth 700 Reds , it works fantastic on mine, if i was you you should consider.... cant find them but its a company who run you grinder with a different wheel and i think green teeth 900 pocket teeth,on a wheel which they make. Its the dogs B. Stump Removal News | Southern Stump Removal it could be these who sell it ?
  13. I would not like to say that threr are a lotof twits at the mo , in LA but monetary cutbacks have evoked standard replies in some circumstances. there funding from some LA has been ripped , ripped, ripped from under there feet
  14. Short answer, no, you are more than qualified,
  15. If they have returned as you say, just send a separate letter detailing your proposal , make sure you add you qualifications next to your name, or just give them a call, sometimes its just about saying 'hello' i love meeting Tree Officers, i always offer them nuts on the first day, just to see if they have a hygiene phobia . They all love me. (and i love red wine)
  16. Should of also said, my set up, landy- grinder brings in the vast majority of work, every place i go folk ring me and say ' i seen your tuck........' god bless Landrover and Jo Beau and all who sail on them i did hear there was a man who sells Bandits on her who sells Jo Beau.
  17. Yep, you are bang tidy with your thinking hp is not everything, weight of machine very important, length too, how it cuts and how easy to replenish an edge is very important, one turn is great, but understanding teeth where is also very important, to all those who are now thinking what a twit, not really, there is good money made on stumps, go suck your thumb . i think the big revolution in grinding will not come from a grinder but from Green wheel, but very dependent on hp.
  18. Thats the only downfall if there is one.... wish it was diesel, i have had predator grinders but with lots of faults , i am also considering the carlton 5014, think its worth a punt, forget p50 and other hydraulic powered grinders , just look at how the power drops on dull teeth or wet ground, for me its all about reliability , and grind productivity, the Jo Beau working on reds, pocket teeth is as all inspiring as a compact grinder can be, i mostly do clients with money , in very tight locations, ( no trailer access ) so the set up works great, this is it folded on the landy, sorry cant show you all the tools as its a secret
  19. This is mine on its way to work, great folding ramps.
  20. Anyone want to see a nice pair of ramps ?
  21. Id say you've done them in, best way,200g straight down loose grain in the hole , did you know ....................... fact coming up .....Rats are the second most successful mammal on the planet after humans , did you like that

    I am back

Still good to hear your on the right side of life, and keep positive, i know what its like to think thats it your life is over, about 2 years ago i too was wired for sound in my local nhs hotel, found out that i have a big heart with a small defect, but i just tend to keep reminding the wife that its official, i am big hearted , what was worse for me about 18 years ago i lost the use of my legs for about 3 mths, depression, did think at that time the worst things possible, but slowly my back improved and my legs started to work again. After just taking things easy last year i am now back on form but rather than chasing after work i am taking a back seat and have at the grand old age of 52 been subbing again as a climber, at my own speed, but its going fine, just have a very small client base who pay me top dollar and in between i do stump grinding, i have just about given up on the report writing as i found dealings were not always worth the stress, (LPAs) and clients, just climbing is quite relaxing on the mind, and the stump grinding is actually mind numbing Get well and keep your chin up.
  23. Have a think about using Difenaccoum it is an anticoagulant but it is one of the safest to use, to kill a dog it would probably have to eat about 70 poisoned rats, you can work it out , with out looking it up again, about 3 grams will eventually kill a rat, most rats then go back to the nest to die and will decompose there, i think it takes 200 grams to kill a dog, so thats a lot of dead rats, i have even know chickens to eat it with no effect, if a dog is looking like it may of eaten poison, vitamin K1 from you vet is the antidote. If you want advice on traps, location is very important, but try baiting all you traps and not setting them, let the rats become confident at eating from them, do it as a routine, just before last light, once you see they are feeding well from the traps keep doing it for a few more nights, then set all the traps at the same time, you should get kills in every trap, be sure to use a lot of traps .
  24. Cercidiphyllum japonicum also springs to mind as well as C. siliquastrum
