  1. Had a half decent quantity of bulk bags split seasoned oak to be collected this morning. As I don't personally know this guy my terms are cleared funds on collection which I feel are fair. Guy turns up with no cash or funds. I politely say I'm sorry I'm not prepared to start loading until funds are either in my account or here. This chap starts threatening us started on my Dad threatening to slap him then decides to block the yard off with his wagon and said he won't move until we load him. I told him to bugger off I'm not interested in doing business with you now find some one else to supply you. Ended up having to call plod to get him removed. Could do without this at the weekend. Part of me feels bad for not allowing him to post me on a cheque on the other hand I stood my ground, that is the terms of my business (log sales) take it or leave it. Any one else had such incidents ?
  2. I need to re-instate some banking about 25ft long with a small stream at the bottom. I have seen some metal type shuttering used at my local canal anyone know what this is called or where to get something similar from? Any other suggestions the customer doesn't want wood or concrete gravel boards.
  3. Never drink on or before the job! I was referring to get yourself a glass of red and read the thread on micro chippers. For me it's 'rose' and the little 100
  4. I don't get these posts asking what price to charge etc. Surely its a case of working out your overheads, how much you need to earn a day and how long the job will take.

  15. I imagine there are good used machines around but from my past experiences older cheaper machines have cost me more in down time than I care to remember.
  16. I miss the capacity of my old transit but I don't miss the long brash drags because I couldn't get a vehicle to the tree I would rather drive 10 mins to nearest tip site then spend hrs dragging brash to the chipper. Horses for courses I suppose.
  17. For that kind of budget you won't get anything decent IMO I bit the bullet and got a brand new kubota G23 earlier this year and it's really pukka I'm even using it now collecting leaves the resale value is high so after the initial outlay they don't lose much in value.
