  1. well after watching loads of reg's inspiring videos of tall firs and getting rather jelous of the dizzy heights he does i finally got my little taste of life up a fir (ok granted not quite the height but the best ive been up in sussex for a while ) had 4 trees in total , easy stuff really just a newish gate and stock fence to try and avoid but overall a thouroughly enjoyable day , all wood was stacked at owners request , 4 big poles being kept to make a new log store . really gives me the bug to get up higher , i really enjoy doing these every now again , makes a nice change from the usual slimy sycamore reductions 2 lads on the ground were busy little ants chipping and dragging and i dont think i touched a branch all day ! good on you lads although had to laugh that one of them wasnt strong enough to open my combi can so he had to send it up the tree i never realised how heavy a full stihl combi can would be at 80 ft ha
  2. i often think it works the opposite in that you tend to work faster cos you dont want to stop and sit around a get cold so just crack on !! get the job done and go home , ive always surprised my self now when it rains how quick you can actually get things done (and the customers think your a hero from working in the cold and wet lol and you dont feel so guilty about leaving early )
  3. hi jon . i bought a set about a month ago to go on my hi cap , so far i cant fault them other than them being a little noisy on the road , i was currently running cooper stt ,s and they have been fantastic tyres and lasted very well but i always liked the old bfg tread pattern and ive heard pretty good things about them so i thought what the heck , i appreciate that they are remoulds and probably wont last as long but i thought what the heck and so far so good , i got 265 75 16 and notice no diffrence in turning circle , speed is slightly down but i dont drive motorway miles so that dont bother me , id reccomend them good price from paddocks too :thumbup1:set of 5 on black mods £560 all in

  8. husqvarna still make them , but i think you have to buy the whole clutch cover assembly with it , theres a couple on ebay from hong kong and usa but by the time youve paid duty etc you may aswell buy original , ask mark or barry from skyland equipment , i put up excatly the same post a while back as i need one aswell , just havnt got around to it yet !
  9. why dont you just fiugure out what you want to earn or need to earn to make a profit ? everywhere you go the nets are being sold between £ 3.00 and £6.00 a net i think thats pretty standard all over

  12. yeh i ive had landys for the best part of 15 years and the very first one i had i used to do that unfortunatly it would always be me that forgot so i always used to wake the neighhbours with full revs at 6.30 in morning lol, you never know you might be surprised with the insurance company ? did you have all the bits like the winch listed ?
  13. yeh white 110 high cap youve probably seen it im sure , i climb for 3 of the council contractors the tree officer calls me an aboricultural whore !lol:lol:

  19. il third that :thumbup1:ordered a pair of husky boots from barry and arrived the next day , very helpfull and great service , keep up the good work guys:001_smile:
  20. That's what I thought ! Lovely specimen of a tree shame it's gota be felled in small bits as very confined space and no room for a fell so milling isn't really an option either , cheers for replys
  21. Any good to burn ,? From what I gather it's pretty light and burns quick like poplar
  22. i totally agree , i dont think jap pick ups are crap at all , far from it but the sheer versatility of the defender makes it a great truck and i actually think the fact that they are so agricultual makes them what they are , ok maybe not the latest tdci but the classic 200/300 that are still extremely popular , and id like to add ive owned 6 defenders and never had a problem with the heaters ! lol
  23. while i agree with some issues regarding arm room etc , i think its incredibly sad that such an iconic vehicle has been phased out due to crappy emmisions is ridiculas , the defender has proved itself to be a quality vehicle for soooo many different applications unlike any other jap pickup has , if they just continued to make a slightly more refined 300 tdi it would continue to sell over and over
  24. yeh its not been great week lol
  25. yeh i do understand it wasnt his fault but he was barely old enough to know what size shoes he was wearing , i was getting so angry with the fact the best answer he could give me was that he didnt recognise it ! and as per usual common sense isnt allowed these days
