  1. When I read threads like this I struggle to get my head round how much elm is worth to some people. I realise elm up North is getting rare but down here were felling them day in day out , madness ! Hope some one takes it it's cracking timber just did my self some beams for the garden. One of the local contractors has over 150 BiG stems at his yard. Another contractor has just finished a huge elm unfortunately due to location it was logged. 1 week for 4 guys ! That's a lot of sawdust !
  2. There good depending on where your planning on paddling , benifits of being able to transport Easyer than rigid kayaks ,but on the sea you notice a massive difference between an inflatable and say a sit on kayak and then if you ever try a proper touring sea kayak there like a speed boat with no water resistance , I'd say if you have an easy way of transporting then a rigid one would be more suitable , but if you want something to wear you mankini in while drifting out on the channel with a can of Stella then the inflatable one will probably do !
  3. That's good to know. I guess sorting the blade pocket is a bit tricky though ??
  4. Although the flywheel has turned away from the anvil if you get what i mean
  5. IM not sure to sure to be honest im gona go pull it out the garage and have a more detailed look , had the worst most unsympathetic customer in the world yesterday aswell so was trying to complete the hob to at least earn something , you thinking the cos of the movement ? Rather than the blade ? If that was the case then surely they would have hit the anvil ?
  6. Rear bearing
  7. Thanks for the advice bob , where would i send them ?
  8. Thing is if that was the case then there would be damage to the anvil but it looks fine ,but that did cross my mind il put a pick up of how for the rear bearing housing is away from the right hand bolt
  9. Yeh it's just one blade although the other Is damaged due to hitting the smashed one , the anvil is fine no damage other than the massive machete slice
  10. Hi bob , the anvil was fine new six months ago along with new bearings, the flywheel has moved but I think this was because the blade failed and unbalanced it so I can't really thjnk of anything other than the blade , they too were pretty new and only had one sharpen off them ,
  11. Cheers matey . A new machine Would be lovely ! I thought I'd be in a better mood thismorning but in actual fact I think I'm more pissed off that it's probably a fault in the blade
  12. Looks like i might have to ! Will i need to upgrade to a thicker pair of boots too ?
  13. 2001 a518 d
  14. Lol yeh that would have been embarrisng for you , regardless of this happening i think its a cracking machine its a 2001 and ive had it along side my mates 2014 tw 150 and its output is no different , that being said i would quite happly buy another timberwolf i used to to have an entec so im gona carry on sitting on the fence and remain impartial !!
  15. Thanks mate , it sorta borderline is it worth it ? , by the time the machine is pulled apart to see the extent of what welding needs doing and new bearings etc plus labour its a lot of money ! Feeling very sorry for self tonight ! Maybe the wife will buy me a new one for fathers day
  16. Yeh ive gota say i only used genuine in a past timberwolf and never had any problems, been qouted 2500 for a new flywheel as not sure seat the blade sits in is repairable and the theres a a chunk missing futher round plus two hairline cracks in the engine side of the flywheel which you can see in the second pic ,
  17. Rotatech !
  18. Yeh it could have been much much worse ! Although it has put me in little bit of a touchy mood tonight !!
  19. Yes mate last week , but ive been chipping all week ,im always really carefull with cleaning and torque settings etc
  20. And another
  21. Can only seem to load one pic at a time
  22. So not a great end to the week , ! Started the chipper thismorning and put one little ash tree branch through and bang ! All mother of hell let lose , half the blade shot out beneath the rollers and and buried itself in the gravel drive next to my foot ! Machine shook it's self silly till I could turn it off , on inspection it's smashed part of the bed the blade sits in and in the process the flywheel has moved and bearings probably knackerd , been chipping all week fine and bearings only 6 month old so can only imagine there must have been a fault on the blade , I won't tell you what the possible repair bill is ! (That's if it is repairable ! Gutted ! Just glad it didn't injure anyone !
