  2. heres a couple of piccys of my new landy , over the last few years ive felt abit like a landrover dealer but this ones gona stay now ! soon to have a tipper fitted
  3. landrovers dont have problems ! they have personality !
  4. oh , and dont pay for those bags from BQ , go round you local builders merchants , travis perkins are always happy to give me a load they normally have stacks in there yard laying around , i collected 15 of them last week , they didnt ask for a penny
  5. theres a company in eastbourne that removes green waste for people excatly like youself , charges £10 per ton bag (builders bag ) or if larger quantity of waste he will turn up when you done and chip it for a price ! he seems to do very well for himself , theres gota be someone around near you that offers a similer service ?
  6. if you go down the landy route then a late 300 tdi (up to 1998) will be you best bet , not that thers any thing wrong with the later td5 but if something does go wrong you need a computer to fix it and its triple the price , also spend some time looking as there are so many on the market and alot of modified ones (not necceseraly in a good way ) so if you got any landy geeky freinds take them along , ! From my personal experience of owning landrovers for the last 12 years id stick with a 300 tdi , ive just sold my 2003 td5 and found myself a 110 hi cap m reg with only 70, 000 on the clock wich if well looked after will happily see the good side of 250,000 , i paid 4 grand for it and having a tipper put on it for around 1700 its always worth waying up the costs of converting something yourself as that way you can find a landy that hasnt been abused already and start fresh with one thats just been started at weekends to take the dogs for a walk:001_smile: also they hold there value so well its as good as money in the bank ! good luck
  7. £ 152 now for 3 years waste cariage licence
  8. walked past it today in tescos ! what a great picture , wouldnt you love to get the opotunity to climb that !
  9. the design of the defender hasnt really changed since the very first buit series ! BECUASE it was a bloody good design !! so as the saying goes "if it aint broke don't fix it "
  10. get a landy pickup ! its as good as money in the bank :001_smile:they hold there value so well (which obviously isnt so great when your buying but in the long run it will pay off. and theres plenty of got landy folk on here who will say the same ! i hope

  12. so basically your prety much pollarding it ,it it shouldnt kill it but it aint gona look pretty , why have you been asked to do take so much off ?
  13. just take as much time as you like and get your cuts spot on , if the assesor is a decent one he would rather see you being safe and competent at the end of the day its all geared around health and saftey so get your positioning right and all ways put your brake on if your about to take a hand off and move ! good luck
  14. nice one chaps , all sorted now 150 quid well spent ay !

    260v341

bought a 260 today ! very happy with it ,either way theres not much in it , but isnt the husky more expensive on parts ?? stihl parts always seem quicker to get hold of ! but as always just an opinion !
  17. why does it always seem like every job advertised is hundreds of miles away ! ive been working for a firm in the south as self employed for a few days each week but they seem so busy in what there doing they never take time to teach you a bit now and then . Dont get me wrong i now the trade is sometimes fast paced we live in a day and age where by people just want to get as much done aspossible but how are we suppose to learn any thing unless people get take time to give you a chance . i got my tickets last year , and love the job ive done a smallamount of climbing for the guys i work for , got my own kit ,and a couple of saws and landy hi cap so if any one has any work in the south , eastbourne , lewes area that needs a hardworking trainee then let us no , cheers guys
  18. did you post this cos you read my post earlyer , its pretty awsome ay !
  19. that was a cracking yew , but has any one heard of a place here in the south called wilmington ,its got a cracking yew thats around a conservative age of 1600 yearsold its got a huge chain that runs from the two trunks and pretty much every branch has wooden supports on it ! do a google of wilmington yew tree im sure something will come up if not il try and post a piccy i think i have some:001_smile:
  20. :barry grainger , ive just done mine at 450 per year , no height ristrictions and 5 million pl:thumbup: really helpfull over the phone
  21. conflicting reports on how this happened , i new the guy and he was self employed working for another company , the guy that was on the ground coudnt climb and was aparently on the bog at the time when he heard the scream then when he came out he came out he called the ambulance but obviously they couldnt get him so they had to wait for the firebrigade. the cut to his throat was less than an inch small and it was roumoured that the saw wasnt even running and he had it trapped so yanking to get it out and wallop ! , the company i work for had to go and finish the job and said that the cuts in the tree looked like the saw was blunt in which case he would have using unessecary force . This happened last march 2008 and hse still havnt sorted it . the guy who contracted him in has now given up the game .
  22. where abouts in west sussex ?
  23. well said bobby !
  24. hi guys im new on here so hello everyone ! ive just completed a 4 month intense course at plumpton college (SUSSEX) its cost me the best part of 2500 quid because im 27 and dont qualify for any help plus funding 4 monthes of not working which has really taken its toll . ive now completed the course a month ago and have all my units cs 30 ,30.2 ,cs31 aerial rescue cs 39 chipper and mewp , the course was fantastic and had money permitted i would have done it a few years ago great bunch of guys and pretty much everyone works really hard . From my experience and from what the teachers say the short courses produce more competent workers than the two year nd courses (im not saying that applies to everyone doing those cousrses so please dont take affence ) several reasons for that are we are climbing pretty much everyday and are able to tackle our own trees all day long without having to share saws and wait turns like guys on the 2 year ones , the amount of practical experience is second to none and would definatly reccomend it !
  25. have just ordered myself some from vista print , 250 for 3 quid and 500 for 8 quid its worth having a browse if your thinking of doing some you can design what ever you like in what ever colour you like !
