  1. ha no i went there a while ago , i like huskys but i prefer the old school ones used to have a 288 and i was a cracking saw and wish id kept it cos now i need the parts ! , ive got a 372 xp which i love , so im determined to get this 281 running as i got given it so seems silly not to , i asked about that splitter today and hes gona let me know as hes sort of said yes to someone else but no moneys been exchanged yet so hes gona double check
  2. loving the green mine doesnt look quite that clean !! i cant believe it runs to be fair although a few little teething problems needs sorting
  3. whats the difference ? sorry for my lack of knowledge its the first husky ive rebuilt
  4. yeh i think the 288 does , that would be great, from what i understand the cover was made obsolete thats why the saw has been sat around ,
  5. i was given a none running 281 that was sat outside for the last 10 years and ive managed to get it to run but im need of a clutch cover (side case and chain break ) other than the ones for sale in hong kong i cant find any , so does anyone know where sells them or if theres another husky model that fits ? many thanks
  6. pm,d you mate
  7. ditto:thumbup1:
  8. its ridiculas you stand there convinced that they have to be here somewhere ! until it finally sinks in that someone has actually taken them :thumbdown:i hope they cut there legs off and die slowly"!
  9. never ever do you catch them , the sound of the chipper i reckon draws them in ! ,its like a mating call to gypo,s
  10. its just unreal it can happen that quick i reckon they must have been watching ,
  11. well today we were the unfortunate ones !! 460 261 020 all taken in the space it took one of lads to walk to back garden and back ! , i know we should never ever leave them unatended but it litterally was that long 20 , 30 seconds at the most , you could even see the truck through the lounge window , but yet again the ****** win ,
  12. yeh i wonder how many pictures dont get posted in fear of someone spotting that there underwear has been put on the wrong way or a sock inside out lol:lol:
  13. The ppe police are gona have a field day on this one ! Lol
  14. good work my friend i posted a couple i did a few days ago ,i find you go through boots and trousers twice as quick climbing around holm oaks all day ! all though i must say they are one of the most satisfying trees to get to look good
  15. 5 years ago i used an axe and nearly broke everybone in my body tyring to keep up with orders the year after that i bought a second hand pto hydraulic which was good but i had try and organise it with the farmer and i got busyer and i just wanted to turn up and get on with it , then i had 2 jobs in cross in hand , 1 large sycamore and a massive beach ,the owners kept all the wood but asked the best way to split it so i got thinking , gave a rough idea to them of what it would cost to bring the machine i didnt even have , lol , was around 500 quid i think , got home a thought well i better get one now ! that was a quarter of the machine paid , and over the last couple of years the log sales have gone really well and definatly worth spending out on ive paid for the machine twice over in going to customers houses to split thier wood , which is something you wont be able to do with a cheapo not legally towable one so for me personally its one of the best bits of kit ive bought my friend sold his towable one yesterday for 500 notes ! i didnt even know he was selling it i would have got your number otherwise , il check tommorw to make sure its defo gone .
  16. my wallensteins average cycle time is 7 secs and full cycle is 14 secs , your almost definatly be splitting arb waste , rings etc so il will never have to a full cycle unless it automatically reverses once the lever is released , for 1400 quid you might aswell do another couple of jobs and spend your money on something with a warranty and good after service
  17. the only problem i see with that is if youve got a bit of wood thats not straight at one end and doesnt sit firm against it ?
  18. yeh i agree the arms are a bit gimicky , other than that i cant fault the machine at all its great , what ive done makes it alot more comfy to work with as you dont use your right leg to rest the wood on ! i could have probably made them a little wider but i wanted to remain close so im not reaching
  19. very nice indeed , beech are favourite i reckon
  20. got rid of the what i call the handle bars that are on springs as they got bent at brackets where the springs are splitting some hefty oak not only do i think there a bit of waste of time i don't really use the machine in the vertical position so chopped them off and put some rails on it holds the wood on a lot better and is much more comfortable to work with !
  21. yeh very true , these had never been touched before and that was bad enough
  22. Every branch you cut went no where , that was the worse bit it got so frustrating its Definatly one of those trees which feels good to get out of !
  23. Yeh that would hurt ! We had the hole shut so no danger , fair sized ash that
  24. yeh was good job , found 3 golf balls wedged between branches , i dont play golf but personally i think id like the challenge but hey ho !
  25. here's a couple from this week , right in the middle of a golf course , the objective was to reduce the height as some of the golfers couldn't hit the ball over the trees ! . The pictures don't do justice to how wide they were , definatly wider than they were tall. they were horrible to try and get the branches out thank god i wasn't in someones back garden i spent a good hour cursing with fustration!. last pic you can make out the trees in the middle , despite continually being stabbed with dead wood it was good job in nice surroundings ,although pretty blowy on day 2 ,
