  4. they sometimes have long pods that dangle off them , look a bit like ruuner bean pods
  5. i think your being a bit soft janey is it because he said nice things on your underwear thread lol (that was what your thread was wasnt it )
  6. dont put yourself down ,im sure there be a landrover thread coming up shortly , you can redeem yourself on !
  7. at another glance ,im 99.9 % its catalpa ,as to why its not very healthy i dont know , they normally go mad after pruning ?
  8. looks like catalpa to me (indian bean tree ) or fox glove ?
  9. hey mate , it was in the entrance to buxted park hotel but in a seperate house just off of it , ( i say house, mansion really) i must admit it was good fun knocking out those big peices , piccys as usual dont do it justice ! i was just texting you back but my phone died the other day , where did you take down that maccy with you big hamock ?
  10. that was my thought when i turned up , it all seemed a little needless given the fact that if the whole tree went over( towards the camera) then it would have still been 400 yards clear of the house , about 20 yards behind the tree is a car park for a cricket club so knocking out those bits i could sort of justify but the rest was really to please to lady that owned the house who didnt like looking at dead wood
  11. sent off to dead wood a big old oak tree , ! and well the pictures say it all really ! i wasnt quite expecting to be deadwooding quite this big i dont really know why they didnt just leave nature to take its course as there wasnt any targets in the way but hey ho . the tree is said to be around 600 years old and in the last few years seems to be struggling loads it was reduced about 12 years ago and was quite healthy back then , its oozing black flux all over and it stinks like hell ! i thought my rope got dragged through dog poop !:lol there seemed to be loads of flys and bugs feasting on the black stuff and for the more eagle eyed of you your notice i didnt have a helmet on for that chunk and that was due to a hornet flyingup under my visor which scared the crap out of me so in a mad panic i threw my helmet off and made that cut before having lunch:biggrin: just thought id add that before the thread turned into a ranting lack of ppe thread ! . so whats the black stuff guys ?
  12. lol |!:lol:its a massive hamock ! was in the middle of texting you mate but my phone died ! did you fell the whole tree ? my day was pretty cool >il try and put some piccys up in a min
  13. wicked set of shots ! photos back then are so much better than all this modern digital stuff ,! its odd really cos we get to appreciate shots like that of 8 guys standing in a gob made by a handsaw , yet in years to come people will be googling the same and will probably be looking at us lot lunging half naked in a pair of stihl xfit over a silly little twig we felled with an 880 .....lol:lol:
  14. it was my 7 th birthday and my party got cancelled i was not amused !lol
  15. excatly ,and if your customers happy then your happy , without being in the tree it would be hard to say , i done a few a couple of weeks back that had been hacked in the past and the customer wanted me to hack them even more but i tried to leave what i could and try and get some sort of shape ,i was pretty pleased ! i forgot to take a shot right at the start but the one on the left looked like the one on the right , such a bloody windy day as well !that made it fun
  16. i dont think he was criticising YOUR work , but the work dont previous . as the saying goes "you cant polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter"
  17. i worked for 3 different companys when i came out of a twelve week course ,two paid 70 a day and the 3rd paid 80 a day , i guess you have to take what you can get to get your foot in but 50 does sound a bit low ? or maybe i was just lucky ? 2 1/2 years on i earn 120 a day with all of them which keeps me nice and busy along side my own bits :thumbup1:just gota grit you teeth and get in there to begin with and if any of the are good companys and you pull your weight etc etc then im sure they would pay a bit more good luck
  18. have you checked the ecu for oil ?
  19. yes very true indeed mr bolam !
  20. bit hard to tell from the pics but id say its been cut back like that before has it not ?
  21. all this talk about napalm and petrol and tyres and what ever flamable liquid you have is madness , its not that difficult to get a fire going , ive felled and burnt tons of elm that has dd matches + dead wood + paper = fire (leaf blower helps though once going) keep it simple once youve got a good base you could burn anything
  22. felco no 8
  23. weve got a fair few round here similar but unfortunatly there probably succumb to dd sooner or later , !thats definatly the biggest ive been involved with ,as usual the piccys dont do it justice
  24. yeh sod that run ! id normally agree with you about the breeze but for four days it was sooo still the sea was like a pond !
