  1. that sounds ideal , its another reason that i dont want to give up my landy cos i know its good one and would be hard to find another like it , how long roughly would it take to do ?
  2. yeh much of the same really , snow stopped play but gradually picking up more of my own ,ive started subbing to another company and their flat out with work with is good so the weeks are filling up :thumbup1:spent last week repollarding 26 elms and limes ! all good fun be good to hook up at some point
  3. so you still used the highcap tub did you ? you got any piccys out of interest ive been toying with this for ages but reluctent to spend a couple of grand on a conversion when i would prob be better with a transit , my problem is i sub to other people for 2,3 days of the week and dont really want to be driving around in a tranny all the time id much rather stick with landy ,also my yard would be a nightmare in a transit
  4. i know !! ive been toying with what would be more practical recently and i figured a transit would allow more room and i might be able to find myself a 90 to scoot around in with gear when subbying for other people , .......BUT i am very tempted to convert it and stick with it i dont really wana get rid of it im so confused lol:confused1: ! hows work ? you busy, i went on your website the otherday theres a pretty good picture of some hansome bloke up a macrocarpa:biggrin:
  5. ok guys thats given me a good starting point thanks very much for info
  6. thanks matty , so what year/models are the smiley face ones
  7. right guys ,am in the market for a transit with a bit of a limited budget as it wont be used all the time ,but having only ever owned landrovers and not up on whats the best model to be looking for or staying away from . your advice or experiences would be great
  8. i was wondering that too !
  9. cracking ! bugger to clear up though !
  10. im surprised you havnt heard from chaffins as they have just got another 4 street tree contracts(not that the pay is great ) , have you tried gabriel connoly?
  11. hey phil , have you tried any companys in eastbourne ? i know a couple that might need someone
  12. hey mate , sounds good but how mobile is he, does he travel everywhere ??? im on the south coast
  13. ok thats great . i presume orange plant is the obvious choice?? any youve got a better sugestion ?
  14. hi skyhuck , thanks for reply , ok just so i understand propaly would the splines be worn on the inside of the rollers then (female correct ?) or the splines off the pump ? or both ? apoligies for sounding stupid
  15. hi andy , yeh there is a clunk i can move the top roller quite freely an inch or so either way before it gets harder to turn if that makes sense to you ? i presume this isnt gona be the cheapest fix ? many thanks darren
  16. hey peeps ,the rollers seem a little jumpy from time to time rather the being at a steady pace , and yesterday while fiddling around i turned the machine off ,stop bar in etc and reached in the hopper to see if there was any play in the rollers and i found i was able to turn the rollers round by hand slightly , is this normal ? or are the splines or something wearing ? ...many thanks in advance the machine is a 98 entec chippit by the way
  17. yeh i was gona say , just buy any landrover it if isnt a project now it soon will be !
  18. looking out the window right now and its 5 degrees and pouring with rain (AGAIN) ,arrrrrggghh .... im on my way sod this
  19. 7 / 8 grand depends on condition got any pics ? funny cos this morning i was thinking about selling mine !
  20. thankyou mate much appreciated
  21. i dont WANT to talk them into felling anything . i just want to do whats gona be the best end result and keep everyone happy , if the ivy can be severed and die off to leave a reasonable looking tree then that would great but from past experiences with ivy it clings worse when dead than alive , i will definalty e bringing all this up next week il get some more pictures in better light !
  22. ive got other work there ,theres two other sycamores , a nice yew and hedges so ive always got work there so its not the case of only doing a reduction to get more work ,i just dont want have to drive past everyday and see a stick of ivy haunting me wether the ivys dead or alive ! it looks naff either way .
  23. so youve never felled a perfectly healthy tree ?? if all the tree surgeons i know could make a living out of just doing reductions and felling dangerous or dying ones then il eat my words !! .... but i dont think i will
  24. hi janey , i do see where your coming from and your probably right with what youve said , although the customer wants to keep the tree if possible im not sure that there be prepared to pay out for stripping ivy ,then reduction and then to find it needs felling anyway ,i realise that theres alot of variables in that and it might work out better than expected , i guess i dont want it to look unsightly when its done as its in a very public place and while me and the customer knows the purpose unfortunatly most of the public dont . i shall meet with them again to discuss all this so its not doomed to fell just yet !
  25. some very good points there toprotter ! as always boils down to money doesnt it , ive done work for these people before and there a good customer to keep hold of so if it were possible to keep it then that would be more benefical as you say ! cheers mate
