  1. Did you ask her what she would like. Is the new toy too big. I have heard the line I bought her a nice merc and she hates it. For around town work a wife mobile tends to be golf or smaller.
  2. See if you can pick up a spare bottle. When I have finished my welding job I off hire the bottle and the little bit left lasts ages. I hire the bottle back out for big jobs when I need to change it a few times that month.
  3. There are a few machines like this. Some used ones on auto trader. They would be great most of the time but sometimes you just cant get by without picking up 2 tonnes or 1 tonne at full stretch. I think the jcb 527-50 may be better for us not much bigger but can lift 2.7 tonnes. Wont be dragging it with the disco though
  4. I was shown a picture of a piston ring under a microscope before and after easy start. It was on a cummins kta course in the 90's. You could see the top edge eroded causing loss of compression giving the impression of addiction to not starting as mentioned earlier. I would imagine an old engine with low compression will suffer less.
  5. I bought 10 draper 5 metre ones from asda about 5 years ago and all still perfect cost a £1 ea bargain at the time I thought
  6. Mark If you like quality rattys goggle Damar. British made and trying to compete with the chinese. A small top quality strap was about £3. They do 1 metre endless green slings for about £2.
  7. Had the same email never read past the monday daniel bit. Never click on any links as that could open up a whole world of pain even if you have up to date anti virus they are working on ways of getting round it on an hourly basis. Normally it starts good afternoon my dear.
  8. I used to hire a newish jd 160 hp and tow 14 tonne behind it was great on the flat but steep hills used to drop through the box like a stone.
  9. I took a single cab one off a hilux years ago and you could pick one end up fairly easily. I would think 150-200kg.
  10. And not that its any of your business but an immediate member of my family is disabled. Looking to the future I have an interest in this benefit not being abused. You only have to open your ears in any town center or pub to hear people bragging about the money they con out of the system.
  11. I did not say the disabled should not be entitled. I indicated that it was abused by able bodied lazy people.
  12. Rake it in September. Your not supposed to do it in spring destroys the side shoots in the grass and leaves it bare for the summer.
  13. I think it needs to be bunded for road use and under 950 litres otherwise you need an adr licence. If you charge for diesel you also need a licence to account for where it went.
  14. 3500 kg is no problem behind the Amazon. 2500kg was enough behind our old Defender. Exceeding the 3500 may feel ok until a tyre or something else fails then you will struggle to keep 6.5 tonnes in a straight line. The other thing to remember is the Amazon is rated to tow more than 3500kg in other countries
  15. Sorry to bump an old thread up but it does have pics and details. We are taking orders for kindling now for the summer. If you take a load now we will do our best to keep you stocked and topped up through the winter.
  16. Thanks hope things are going well. We are going to stock 1000's of bags through the summer to get through next winter as its going to be cold. We normally put prices up end of summer unless price of wood crashes then it wont go up at all. If you have the space to store get stocked up now the wood is new clean fresh and 14% moisture. Like this
  17. Buy any decent Toyota and you wont look back. But if you like taking things to bits and love Landrovers and know them inside out stick with them at least the parts are cheap.
  18. There really is no comparison. The landcruiser transmission are a lot heavier duty than the LR. Defenders are a bit like triggers broom at 200,000 miles. The Toyota stuff if looked after in this country is easily capable of 500,000. The toyota stuff is by no means perfect and parts are expensive also do some research just in case you find it does 10 mpg as that could be a real pain in the uk.
  19. Probably the best truck you will ever buy. Even if it was knackered would still run rings round a new defener. With auto box should do 20 mpg. May be touch more with manual box.
  20. £1.80 + vat collected will get some prices for haulage when generator work eases off.
  21. I had a new d22 and was bored with the Bridgestones it came with when they wore out. I fitted bfg ats and it ruined the handling and the drive of the vehicle. They were too heavy for the vehicle especially as its unsprung weight. I would be comparing tyre weights to see if the general At or similar is near the weight of a Bridgestone.
  22. Job seeker allowance but I am told disability is better because you have not got to bother your ass out of bed.
  23. The way I looked at is same amount of work and material. The customers should take more responsability for drying the wood. If I put the money in an isa or bank acct the most I would earn is 3% so give that as a discount. Keep the wood in the yard it will be worth at least 15% more next year when seasoned.
  24. Yes I would have another pentagon commercial dealer were fab. Engine pulled like a train brakes were incredible. I would avoid white ones until they galvanised the bodies about 58 plate. If you must go back on years the metallic ones dont seem to rust as much. Mine used to cruise through germany at 100 mph + I think the body rusted partly because the tyre chains used to come off when at the top of Norway. Problems to look for we had with ours in 200k over 5 years. Propshaft fell off. gearbox selector cables. new Gearbox they have a problem when pulling away they jump out of 1st gear and it wont go back with out declutching , set of headlights filled with snow. 3 exhaust clamps at front, several sets of rear shocks ( very small ) indicator stalks,
