  1. Grateful of any advice. We are on a slight slope and it gets muddy. the chalk is only about 4 in under the mud and its well drained a day or so of wind and its drying up. Part of the problem is bobcat and jcb and 4x4 jeeps. If I bought a decent 400cc 4x4 quad would this help prevent this problem by going lighter and help flatten it down before the frost comes in. I am thinking of moving logs with say a tipping 1 cu metre trailer 700kg all up. Also I could pull a roller or chain harrow about. Or is it just another shiney toy to buy and play with over christmas should I just give in and splash 3k on a nice Honda.
  2. I have a bobcat 751 and would not be without it but it does make a right mess in the mud. Not the best tool for clearing snow, heavy and if it gets a slide on side ways will do alot of damage.
  3. depending how this winter goes an extra 5k for cordwood 5k in 10k back with a bit of effort. Or as someone has already said invest in yourself rather than buy a suit for someone else.
  4. We dont deliver the week before christmas its not september you know Merry christmas everyone.
  5. Last time I spoke to large they were £70 + £20 carriage. There is a cheaper way but not seen it done yet anyone got some pics will need to do mine soon.
  6. Some people strive to build an empire and enjoy the rewards Some people earn a living and enjoy the rewards Some people earn a living treat the kids and enjoy toys Some people strive to build an empire spout american catch phrases put there families through hell and will never be satisfied and never get anywhere. Not aimed at anyone on here just an observation after being in business nearly 20 years.
  7. Depends what you call new, this is winter no 6 for us. We are new to logs because the last five generations of my family were not in logs.
  8. Send him a message, he may not have put a reserve on to save listing fee, price was low so he bottled it.
  9. I would try all the ideas above useing stuff you find cheap or free and see which works for you. Your yard wont look very tidy but when you get busy it wont anyway.
  10. I would put it in the bank in two lumps so its covered by the state. Wait till property has completely bombed out then buy some rental properties for a pension.
  11. Dont give up. We tip we dont stack. We can serve twice as many people that way so less disappointment. If they are really that incredibly idle and lazy then we can send some one out for £50. We do however make exceptions but it needs to be genuine.
  12. A proper mog. What I should have said was 150bhp with 10 stud axles. I think 1700 and up were fitted as standard with 10 stud axles.
  13. Poor unimog hope it did not break your light or scratch the paint.
  14. For any sort of trailer work I would go for at least a 1700 alot of things are more heavy duty. You will move up to proper 10 stud axles. I remember looking into the u1000 and the towing capacity is very low even compared to the u1200.
  15. Yes but you need to feel sorry for them they were getting 5k a week on there pension now its only 2k. Range rover autobiography is now approaching 100k and depreciation is shocking if you NEED a new one every year.
  16. I am too poor at the moment to spend £50,000 on cord wood if I was rich I would have more sense thats why tesco's dont process logs in their carparks and why there is never any seasoned logs.
  17. If there are any stove shops around Andover Hampshire want to buy some processed logs in March I have a spare 300 tonnes of green beech sat here just waiting to go. I will even hold this winters price for you. Dont leave it till October though
  18. Why do you rate birch above beech. I have a pile of birch but have never sold it as logs is it faster drying or better burning. I thought it went soft if left out for a year ?
  19. Wont need a decoke for a while or injector cleaner
  20. I take it there was no news that day.
  21. There could be a sensor telling the ecu not to start. At the pumps you would have started on neat diesel and then run on mix so may have got you home. Or the petrol has killed your pump or injectors due to the extra heat petrol is alot more volatile. A friend of mine was going to a funeral and did the same thing to a golf tdi drove home and we flushed and drained everything. The car now goes better than before. I think its often luck of the draw. Common rail diesels run at alot higher pressures and closer tolerances and tend to be less tolerant of abuse.
  22. If he was a loony it could go either way however you handle it. If someone is being man handled and shows a weapon it is often easier to disarm because they are not in control of what is going on.
  23. what do they do with all the personal details you have given permission for them to use as they wish ?
  24. Part of the reason this country is in such a mess is there are too many people riding the train without contributing. If they dont pay everyone has to pay more. There is alot more people that want chucking of the train fat or thin. The way society is what surprises me is he was not sat in first class.
  25. If I was waiting to get home. I would have thrown the turd of the train no matter how big he was or at least had a go. But then those that have met me know I am not exactly 7 stone myself. If you dont have a ticket and get caught then you should take it on chin and at least get off unless you are a slimey free loading system cheat that has been getting away with it for years. Bet he thinks twice next time.
