  1. Yes 1 at home 1 in office 1 in van 3 wore out for spares. I wont be giving up but down to one cup a day unless I am having a bad one.
  2. If I give up I will have to sell 3 gaggias and 3 senseos. Think of the ebay fees I am getting a headache thinking about it. I came off a flight from a weeks holiday in the summer and had blinding headaches rang nhs helpline and they kept me on the line and an ambulance showed up. I talked them out of taking me in and agreed to see my doctor in the morning. Doctor asked did you drink much coffee on holiday no not a drop I replied. Do you normally ' o yes I like my expresso at home' was told to go home and have some strong coffee and not to go cold turkey again
  3. No you are right he has no road tax in the window.
  4. I expect it changed hands free or for a drink so cheap raw material before the hard work was put in. The reason firewood is so expensive is the government demanded the fc charge a £15 a tonne tax. All the private owners then jumped on the band wagon. There seems to be alot more cordwood about this year
  5. wind the springs of at the top especially in the winter.
  6. Yes you are right. But just to confuse it even more if you sold me 500 of them and I told you I was going to sell them on you would have to add 20% vat. But what if I was a pub.
  7. I thought about doing this but somewhere along the line I will paying to receive all those unwanted sales calls my answer phone gets rid of.
  8. My understanding is if you bought a commercial vehicle for you business and they were not vat reg ie no vat should you come to sell it you would have to add vat. Which seems odd and have never had a straight answer from anybody in the know. So 20 years on still dont know.
  9. If your not vat registered its not your problem. If I buy a piece of kit I look at the net price new ( because I claim the vat back ) then I deduct 25% per year or more if its had a hard life.
  10. I had this problem. Check the bar is vertical to the bed if not you should be able to adjust by undoing bolts around the back. If its not perfectly level it will wear one side of the bar first. But The most likely cause is uneven teeth on chain as been said by graham. If I have your problem 9 times out of ten its cured by using an electric bench grinder sharpener. If I hand sharpen a few times I can feel the problem creeping up on me.
  11. Are you sure it was an accident did the rider have a somerset accent.
  12. I cant buy the cord for that price let alone process then stuff into nets and deliver. We do 9 logs approx in a net for £6.00 we thought about wholesaleing for £4 but would not be worth our while. £1.80 is a bargain even for softwood imo. I think I could cut the bags and load my tipper for that price.
  13. I know that feeling some days I just give up as the damage would be with us for months. If it freezes will be alot better.
  14. So it looks like I am getting Hard core for christmas not a shiney quad:bawling:
  15. The picture was taken last year its far worse this year come spring I will pull a harrow across and it will look nice again. I cant put down a track as the bottom half is under option and should be purchased in the next year or so. I may go hard standing on the rest then as I will have no choice as will be using the remainder much harder. Its supposed to be the field behind the house so eventually will be empty again. Apart from the 500 houses
  16. We have something around Andover Newbury area called Oracle. A business card size ad costs about £30 for several weeks. Not sure what you are advertising but we used to get at least 7 new log customers ea time, then they would recommend. We have not used advertising for about 3 years and cant cope with more log deliveries. We advertise in the firewood directory on here and I think when you post on the forum it helps refresh your presence online. Leave a few buisness cards in notice boards in villages and schools.
  17. Grateful of any advice. We are on a slight slope and it gets muddy. the chalk is only about 4 in under the mud and its well drained a day or so of wind and its drying up. Part of the problem is bobcat and jcb and 4x4 jeeps. If I bought a decent 400cc 4x4 quad would this help prevent this problem by going lighter and help flatten it down before the frost comes in. I am thinking of moving logs with say a tipping 1 cu metre trailer 700kg all up. Also I could pull a roller or chain harrow about. Or is it just another shiney toy to buy and play with over christmas should I just give in and splash 3k on a nice Honda.
  18. I have a bobcat 751 and would not be without it but it does make a right mess in the mud. Not the best tool for clearing snow, heavy and if it gets a slide on side ways will do alot of damage.
  19. depending how this winter goes an extra 5k for cordwood 5k in 10k back with a bit of effort. Or as someone has already said invest in yourself rather than buy a suit for someone else.
  20. We dont deliver the week before christmas its not september you know Merry christmas everyone.
  21. Last time I spoke to large they were £70 + £20 carriage. There is a cheaper way but not seen it done yet anyone got some pics will need to do mine soon.
  22. Some people strive to build an empire and enjoy the rewards Some people earn a living and enjoy the rewards Some people earn a living treat the kids and enjoy toys Some people strive to build an empire spout american catch phrases put there families through hell and will never be satisfied and never get anywhere. Not aimed at anyone on here just an observation after being in business nearly 20 years.
  23. Depends what you call new, this is winter no 6 for us. We are new to logs because the last five generations of my family were not in logs.
  24. Send him a message, he may not have put a reserve on to save listing fee, price was low so he bottled it.
