  1. I like the idea of that grab tank most thieves would not expect tools to be stored in the end especially in the dark. The reading sale is always packed out with fuel stores all metal and bunded and stackable with forklift pockets. 950 litre I think is best as you dont need adr licence to take it on the road.
  2. Well done thats exactly what I had in mind must have seen it somewhere before. Has anyone bought stuff like this from the states through ebay what is carriage and taxes like. Or better still could something be modified in the uk from a manufacturer. I would not use it for final logging just to knock the 2ft rings down to something manageable especially as cord wood will not be getting any smaller.
  3. Its time the government allowed a reduced tax level same as red derv. I am sure it would save the nhs in the long run.
  4. We have been wrestling some large rings onto our vertical splitter to save the back I had an idea. If I weld a basic log splitter onto a bobcat back plate upside down I could stand the rings on end and chase them about until they were liftable. Before I create another of my useless monsters any input appreciated. I may be overcomplicating the solution but I dont want to spend out thousands on a horizontal splitter. Difficult to explain but a horizontal 3pt linkage machine faceing downwards is the best way I can describe it.
  5. 500 bags ready to go if required depends where you are based. Left a message on your mobile we have ads in classified on here and arbtalk firewood directory.
  6. Yes the real one is laminated to keep it dry and cleanable.
  7. Good answer wish I thought of that
  8. Perhaps it should read " university of St Andrews first to Foreskin "
  9. theres good karma and bad karma one day you will have to sit for 8 hrs in a jam while they clear an accident and you will think back to this post
  10. The mild weather has slowed things down as people who buy in advance have and the last minute .coms dont need to yet. Just give it a few weeks of frost and sleet and you will be flat out.
  11. I would forget grants, very little about and those that are you will spend more time jumping through hoops than you gain. Start small and you will learn by small mistakes. Money easily won is easily lost.
  12. with a bit more cladding you get a nice little business in there paying you £800 a month looking on the bright side.
  13. I have a large mesh sided poly tunnel. I tend to process into 4 smaller piles and leave in the summer for a few weeks then pile on top. One big pile the ones in the middle will go mouldy. The more wind blows through the better.
  14. I had a new piston and possibly rings would need to hunt it down.
  15. about 6 weeks ago delivered 2 cu metres to a slightly awkward customer from last year. Wife took the order. I rang back to check our standard 10" logs were big enough. When I got there his wife told me he had not left the cash as arranged he would bring it that night. 3 days went by, I rang his response "I suppose your worried about your money" my reply "yes" the logs are too small and there is bark and trash in it. I will offer you half the money. Within ten minutes the whole lot was back on our truck the dust and trash swept up which did not fill a gallon bucket. The load was probably the best I have sent out in 5 years bone dry mix of ash beech and oak. I was extremely polite and left without a cross word but had a big smile on my face as we wont need to go there again and for me chapter underlined and closed.
  16. I would sit on it for a while. A month of cold weather you can ask what you like.
  17. Do you think we will have a hard winter in January. I remember still cutting the grass in December about 3-4 years ago your predictions are normally spot on.
  18. I have an idea which bits
  19. Yes and I was impressed with my politeness and maturity. I think alot of people in this country in the middle ranks are in the same boat. Unless you are a banker, politition or crook then you just fiddle a bit more.
  20. Very quiet here luckily as we concentrated on making kindling this summer. I have seen people slash their price locally. I have a large stock of beech which was cut and split a few months ago but its still 30% so will miss this year unless someone knows better.

    new toy

I bought an 051 off ebay well made heavy but a bit gutless I think I leaned it out a bit too much and it went puff. It felt like it revved lower than modern saws was torquey and relaxed to use. It went back on ebay and Made the money back.
  22. I did look into that but lack of tech advice from toyota would make it difficult. Also mine does not drive or stop great when loaded to 2900kg and driven on private grounds. I have coil and leafs fitted.
  23. I bought the single cab thinking with bigger bed and only 2 seats it would be more of a work horse and carry alot more but is 1800kg empty and gross kerb weight is 2500kg. The dc and ec is just under 3000kg to keep it on a car mot test. Even the latest single cabs still only 700kg
  24. I dont think so. I tipped of 1 cu metre of perfect cut ash beech and oak all bone dry under 20% . The woman shrieked you got to be joking expecting alot more for the money. We had a long discussion and I apologised that she expected more but explained that we probably made £30-£40 out of the load. She assumed the wood came to us free. On leaving she asked if we were definately giving up logs in future. I had explained we were calming log sales down to concentrate on our wholesale kindling.
  25. The hilux extra cab carries 1080kg the single cab only 700kg ? so the extra cab would be useful for kindling etc. I assume looking at my single cab 2cu metres would be too much ? . 1cu of dry beech 325kg but green can be 600kg so if we were supplying 1.5 cu of green it would still work as long as you dont have passengers.
