  1. Too heavy for the front axle if you want a 4.2 you need to buy a proper one.
  2. There is a certain model to get the early ones are too old and some of the later ones are bad news. Not sure which but someone will know on here. Apparently you can tell a good one from the style of the mirrors ? We had a £2000 cabstar if I bought another it would be 5k plus as you will spend 3k very quickly on a wreck.
  3. 30 mph over the speed limit could bring you a ban.
  4. Both drivers could be landrover enthusiasts so its a fix. Difficult to tell as you cant see the dirty finger nails, open toed sandals, socks, beards or pipe
  5. Its time white van man was slowed down. Most new panel vans are restricted now anyway. If they stop driving like knob heads the police would leave them alone.
  6. Not sure if this is right but someone who has owned alot of ivecos told me that the 3.5 tonne and 5 tonne have same chassis and running gear and it was just a paper work excercise. If this is so the 3.5 should be more durable and safer when loaded to 3.5 tonne gross.
  7. This will sound like a mad question but which is worst in the eyes of the law. 1. a 4.6 tonne down plated to 3.5 tonne but still weigh at road side 4.6 tonne or 2. a 4.6 tonne weighing 4.6 tonne but no operators licence and no down plate.
  8. Try it again with both vehicles in high box. The landrover is rated to pull 11 tonnes in an emergency in low box. Get the dodge and td5 pulling a 3 tonne trailer and see which you could drive all day.
  9. Do you want random loose bags of kindling. We dont have a market for it so would be no good to us. The kindlet may not make logs but its brilliant at making joinery offcuts into neat bags for years without falling to bits. Cutting up rings and feeding them into this type of machine I would think would be alot of work. If my wife was not interested in making the stuff I could not justify doing it my self or even worse employing someone. Its fun but its pocket money
  10. Normally its because they are tight and want something for nothing
  11. I burnt some all night burns like beech and for same amount of time, gauge on flue up to temp. Sell the beech keep the pop
  12. I have pop on the fire tonight burns nice no spitting. I have had more trouble burning oak than any other wood. If you keep your ears open you should be able to get pop for £15 -£25 per tonne + haulage. Once cut into logs in the summer dries in a couple of weeks.
  13. I think there is only two trucks I would buy new d max or hilux looks a cracking truck cant beat the feel and smell of a new truck when you leave for work in the morning.
  14. I bought a used greenmech combi for use on my own land. very impressed with strength of construction and speed of chipping. I use the shredder chute more than the chipper.
  15. He would only need to open the door for us.
  16. She may have been driving at a more sensible speed and luck was on her side.
  17. A car is tax deductable at 25% a year up to a max of 12k a year. So dont go for a new range rover. They may have moved the goal posts since I last looked. IF your vat registered you will have to pay about £50 a quarter for your personal use.
  18. I have a 320d touring heavy little beast for a smallish car. Wondered what they were like for towing.
  19. I have a portek thing and used to cut logs with it. I had one kick back a few weeks back and its now thrown on the heap. They are ok if your last log can be 12" some barbs in the trough may help. Also I was using the ms220 stihl electric saw which has alot more low end torque than the petrol saws.
  20. Unless he has not finished the job yet and he will drop a huge load of logs and some cash in the next few days.
  21. BMw 320d touring imo drives the best out of the estates. Bit small in the boot. 50mpg not been the most reliable let down by silly bits of plastic in the engine rest of car top quality. Would I buy another yes but get rid of swirl flaps if you buy one.

    Generator

Get a genuine honda engine not a naff chinese copy. 5kva is an economical size to buy then you know you are going to start your freezers and can sneek the odd large appliance on ie dish washer or tumble dryer. For just 2 freezers and a few lights I would go 3 kva minimum. If you think you may be off for a few days a pramac p6000s diesel set is ideal but your looking at 3k with vat. At the moment the uk can produce 40% more power than we need within 2-5 years it will be down to 5% especially if the economy recovers. I think we will be in for rolling black outs.
  23. A dmax with 2 bags and small trailer should not weigh over 3.5 tonne so you should not need a tacho. Most double cabs weigh about 1700kg mt
  24. wp 36 Good machine JimE was good enough to demo it to us a few weeks ago at Riko. As been said not too many guards and I am sure the splitter has the power to cope with orrible stuff. Its probably half the price of a Dallen.
