  1. Hi Larry The test for blades is very simple, ask your self the following question :- Can your blades sharpen a pencil ?? If the answer is yes - then blades are sharp enough If the answer is No - then you need to resharpen The length of time between sharpens depends on usage of machine but if you apply the above simple test you will keep the machine working in an efficient and safe manner. If you chip with blunt blades you increase the torque in your machine which in turn reduces component and machine life. Hope this answers your question. regards TW Tech Support.
  2. Hi Ledder666 Josh The symptoms you describe fully indicate that the relay or relay base has developed a fault. The relay is located in the engine bay and looks like a black square box approx 25mm square. It is a pull out relay. When you remove the relay please check that the base connections are sound and secure and the cable free from contamination. You can purchase a new relay from a good automotive retailer. You need type SRB 500 relay - (we recommend either Hella or Lucas) If this does not cure the fault then check the switches in the control box to ensure the electrical contacts are making and breaking as they should. Hope that this helps you but if you require any further advise please call the Tech support help line on 01449 765820 and we are offer you some further help. regards TW Tech Support
  3. Hi Hedgecutter You seem to have multiple questions which need an answer The roller problem is not related to lack of grease but please ensure there is enouigh grease in the roller assembly. The roller feed problem sound like an electrical condition I would suggest that you check the forward latch relay base for good contact on the wiring together with ALL of the switches, paying attention to the safety bar switch as all switches are linked for safety purposes. The purple wire is not used in a DHB machine but is used in a track machine. If your battery is not charging it needs to be checked out to see if any of the cells are not damaged, it can be checked by a local garage or battery supplier, and check that the battery cables are clean and tight. Have attached a copy of the wiring diagram for a 150 DHB machine to assist you but if you need further help you can call the help line on 01449 765820, if you call in we will need the serial number of the machine to enable us to look up all the details. Hope this helps regards TW Tech Support. Wiring Diag 150 - H box.pdf
  4. Hi SiW The hub nut can be purchased from any reputable local caravan supplier or from the internet, We use a local company for this type of spare and they are very helpful. the tel no. is 01206 795949 and they could post it to you. The nut will need to be torqued up to 290Nm + / - 10Nm to ensure safe replacement but if you are not certain we would advise taking it to your local TW dealer who can do this for you . Not certain who you have in your local area but if you look in Yellow Pages you may be able to find a local source. regards TW Tech Support
  5. Hi Paul I am assuming that you have a Honda GX620 24 HP engine on this machine For this you need 10W 30 grade engine oil, with a oil filter pt. no 15400-ZJ1-004. Our spares dept can supply this to you at retail cost £14.30 But if you do not have this engine take the machine to your local dealer who can identify and supply the correct parts. The discharge tube is also available from TW but depending if you need the adjust bucket and fixings depends on the price, if you need a quotation please contact our spares dept on 01449 765818 regards TW Tech Support.
  6. Hi SiW Mistakes like this easily happen. You need to check the brake hubs are ok and have not got blue heat marks. You need to check that the brake shoes are not worn out and replace them if required, at the same time check the bearings for correct tightness and grease content. Check brake cables are operative and slide in the housings. If you are not sure of what to do I would suggest you take it to a dealer or a local repair agent to have the braking system checked out. Please ensure hat the systaem is safe to use before you use the machine. regards TW Tech Support
  7. Hi Paul Please find attached a copy of the operators manual for the 125PH machine. Hope it is what you are looking for regards TW Tech Support TW 125 7750 7726.pdf
  8. Hi Larry Have has several customers report this effect Have found 2 possible causes, The first is that the key for the machine is attached to a bunch of other keys and the weight of the bunch has caused the key to turn and stop the engine. The second is a slightly worn ignition switch which combined with the weight of keys has emphasised the situation. A further cause could be the start of the breakdown of the fuel solenoid valve but this would be unusual. Hope this points you in the right direction. regards TW Tech Support
  9. Hi The glow light is meant to go out when the engine starts The reason to replace the ignition switch is due to the key being able to be removed and the engine still running . This is a safety issue which must be addressed as soon as possible, by the replacement of the switch it may give you the result you are seeking on the glow led. regards TW Tech Support
  10. Hi Swinny The first thing to do is to change the ignition switch for the engine as from your description it sounds worn out. This may solve all of the problems but will definatly resolve the key removal issue, If you are still experiencing glow light troubles I would defer you to our engine supplier who has the expertise in this field, they are UEP and can be contacted on 0844 2092514 and ask to speak to Richard or Dave Hope this helps Regards TW Tech Support
  11. Hi MIck Very unusaul for this to happen. If you have had a blockage, please double check that it has been cleared properly, ensure the rotor is able to manually turn as well as the discharge tube has been cleared. The battery may have died a natural death, check the output and you can apply a jump start to the unit. Check the electrical connections are secure and clean paying attention to the earth. There is no seperate solenoid to the starter motor and it is not prenegaged, if it is in contact, the bendix needs to be freed off and given a good spray with WD 40. The contact details for the engine supplier is Universal Engine @ Chelmsford tel 0844 2092511, they will need your engine serial number to confirm the replacement if you need a new starter motor. Hope this helps TW Tech Support
  12. 14. Hi Jonathan Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some engine problems. It sounds like you are getting some fuel to the ignitors hence the black smoke, in this instance I would refer you on to the engine manufacturer as it their area of expertise rather than ours. The contact details are : Richard Doyle : 0844 2092514 [email protected] or Dave Stannard : 0844 2092516 [email protected] These two guys operate in the service & warranty section for the engine supplier. Hope that they can assist you regards TW Tech Support

  16. Hi May sound stupid but check cables from battery to starter Also check earth connection is sound on battery and starter motor Hope this helps TW Tech support.
  17. Hi This sounds like fuel problems Please check the inline filter is clear and replace if not done on the service. We purchase our engines from a UK source and they have an excellent help line and as this is an engine problem I shall defer you to them for a full answer. Please call 0844 2092514 and request to speak to either Richard or Dave, who will be pleased to give you some advice. Hope this helps regards TW Tech Support.
  18. Hi Alban To answer your question fully we would require to know the serial number of your machine, this will enable us to look at the original archive records of the build. If you have a welded in type rotor and shafts for a CH30DH model these are still available as a spare. The new sytle rotor and shaft has to have the Nose shaft pressed into the rotor disc. From an engineering point of view it is best to freeze the nose shaft prior to pressing into the disc as it makes it slightly smaller and when unfrozen gives a stronger fit, to press the shaft takes only a couple of mins with the correct equipment. I believe that the precise calibration the dealer is talking about is setting the position of the bearing onto the shaft, as this sets the blade gap of the machine. However if you have the latest set up of a split rotor shaft this is set by shimms being introduced into the nose shaft. The blade gap on a CH30DH machine is 3 to 4 mm. The main reason for a shaft to wear is due to the inner race of the bearing rubbing away the shaft by not being held securely inplace, if this has happened it could be due to a variety of reasons and without seeing the parts it is very difficult to offer an opinion. We encourage end users to use the dealerships, this way we are certain that you receive the best service and advise and indeed we often give advise to your own mechanics to enable them to carry out repairs. Trust that this answers your queries but if you need any further assistance call me on the Tech Support line. regards TW Tech Support
  19. Hi Treesnakey It will be my pleasure to send you a copy of the manual. Will send by seperate e mail today regards TW Tech Support
  20. Hi Lollypoppy Glad to be of assistance and guide you in the right direction. TW Tech Support
  21. Hi Jamie Understand that you have spoken with the Tech Support and spares sections of TW Just to confirm that the parts are available and we do not recommend that you repair your rotor by welding as it will have major repocussions on the dymamics of the machine. If you decide to go down the second hand route please check that the rotor is in good condition and the shafts are not fretted. The main consideration is that it is safe to fit. Strongly advise that you replace with new. regards TW Tech Support
  22. Hi Lollypoppy Glad to hear the switch worked OK A rumbling bearing normally means that the bearing has become dry and is on the way out. I would advise that you replace the bearing as if you delay the repair it could cause additional damage to the shafts which will add to the costs in the long run. It can be done by yourself but only if you know what you are doing. Will leave the decision to you. Best regards TW Tech Support
  23. Hi Lollypoppy It sounds like you may have a relay with an intermittent fault. The relay is labelled the forward latching relay located in the panel in the engine bay. The relay is type SRB 500 (use either Hella or Lucas manufacture), it is a pull out type which can be easily removed and replaced. This can be purchased from a good local automotive supplier for a few pounds. Regarding the hydraulic oil level, please do not check this with the machine running as the pump will be energised and is pushing the oil through the system. To check the level turn off and let the machine stand for a few minutes. The minimum level is indicated by the lines marked on the hydraulic tank and if you are below minimum please top up using grade VG32. Hope this sorts out your problems regards TW Tech Support
  24. Hi Treefrog Sorry for the late response but have been away from the office. Have checked the stocks at TW and we do not have any of the old type springs available. Have spoken with our engineer and he advised that the new springs should fit and it could be that the bottom bolt location needs some adjusstment to enable the springs to fit and the hose fitting re orientated. Hope this helps regards TW Tech Support
  25. Hi SOC Glad to be of service and thanks for your comments much appreciated. TW Tech Support
