  1. 7-45/8am at the yard here that gets us to most sites by 8.30 by the time youve set up and up the tree its 9am so all good with noise by then most days back at the yard by 2/3pm for fiddly little maintenence jobs, cleaning trucks etc
  2. Our yard has lots of heavy gates big locks alarms cctv everything you can do but we still worry esspecially this time of year. Sorry to hear you lost some kit, total scumbags the lot of them!
  3. depends on your work really, when dismantling its so handy to have the abilities to pre tension and lift sections. ive also got the rc3001 but if theres rigging to do the grcs always comes out first, can use it to pick timber onto your truck, pull over trees, tension up speedlines it opens a new world of rigging really.
  4. a whole heap of pics since i last posted on this thread
  5. Ive recently bought a clarke 160 turbo im very impressed with it, you can use it with or without gas, build quality im pleased with also would reccomend it.
  6. 1100/1200kg for l200 are 130 landy weighs 2500kg empty thats with a brand new full ali tipper on
  7. Id go for l200, if you get a club cab you will get all your tools behind the seats. With high sides its surprising what you can fit on and its hard to overload because of the load space. Much nicer to drive also.
  8. we sell mixed loads only as its to much hassle separating hardwood from soft wood we have no trouble selling it at all. when i had a open fire and woodburner i burned softwood perfectly fine burns very hot, the theory that it tars up the flue is total rubbish as you should get it swept at least once a year anyway so no trouble there.
  9. i prefer the next video that comes up of his where there rigging a big top and snap the top out the tree landing on the bucket truck while hes up it.[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBz-BnKNw0Q&feature=share&list=FL7T8BWN1YBbWCpxi1tdBI3g&index=1]Bob Hastings MPG - YouTube[/ame]

  11. This morning had peter collect last couple of loads of the stem Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Ive been called alsorts with my movember haha im surprised theres no pics of the food we got, bacon sarnies, homemake blueberry cakes lots of drinks made it even more enjoyable than it already was.
  13. awesome vid there adam i should have got you to edit the helmet cam footage
  14. used my usual go pro hero 2 and edited it with imovie quick and simple if im trying to edit something abit more complex i use final cut pro
  15. i also like to cut straight through but sometimes the pieces roll etc making it difficult to cut or nipping the saw so go in from the other side. at some points adam was close but always in a safe place.
  16. the cost of a crane is £380+vat so it hasn't even got to save us a day to be cost effective, if people can under quote us they are welcome to the job as we would only want that job if were using a crane simples. they had a cheaper quote but decided that we were worth the extra cash to get it done quickly and safely
  17. had this tree to crane out today,40tonner crane. had me and adam bourne up the tree with dan and gareth smith on the deck, adam did most of the hard work slinging and i just lazed about cutting them off. got started about 9 o clock had the tree down by 1pm ish with a tea break in-between. had a quality day with some good banter cant beat playing around with a crane missed the couple of lifts as my battary died but gareth or adam may have some footage or pics. cheers for today guys.
  18. Hows all the movembers getting along im getting called magnum pi at work. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. traveling to and from sites we have different trucks, so just a quick blast on the indicators showing which side to look works. if its while were on site usually, look at that crumpet over there.
  20. Ive been in some very stable mewps im still very uncomfortable/scared in them. I would only want to own one because they come in handy and id trust my equipment more as i no what its done and no its been looked after right. Maybe with time id get comfortable with it also.
  21. Im totally against mewps. i hate them never feel safe in them at all and will be a last resort or the most effective way of doing the job. Ive used loads of different machines hated them all, they have there uses i would hope to own one some day because they can be very useful and time saving on the right jobs. Like this hedge trimming job i wouldnt fancy doing the top and sides off a ladder. If id have climbed each one it would have doubled the time on site costing me more than the hire of the mewp. 22. Certainly is a cool feeling, not all drivers will do it though as its illegal for some reason. Couple of drivers have been like yer whatever you have a harness thats good enough for me and do it.
  23. I think the swing cheek pulley was just a redirect from the main cast pulley. Looks like they felled another 1 maybe 2 trees along the boundary.
  24. Really enjoyed that vid. Very smooth rigging everytime from the ground crew!
  25. Ive never said thousand pounds i said id have charged about 400plus vat for the op on his discription that would be 2 men and chipper. It was the person who commented after me making up things saying how much that would add up to. You dont get alot for thousand quid these days though. We charge fair prices and we get the work most of the time even if we are more expensive. People are willing to pay for a good service. Dont under value your selfs
