No! don't do it...get a load of veg oil instead! Oh, & a six pack of stella for me for saving you a load of grief!
  2. Belting little saw these are, every climber should have one!
  3. That saw will get even better after its had a few litres through it, I take the bar off every morning before using mine, & clean the channel & oil holes out, & give the nose sprocket a drop of oil, especialy if its going to cut dead wood or larger pieces, top saw these are!
  4. Hita mate, you have done no wrong, just tried to save the tree, that's all one can do. If the client wants it gone, then that's what will happen unless the LA decides different, I for one take my hat off to you for your efforts.
  5. Scooter parts!
  6. Yes I know the tree well, it would be a great shame if it were to go,but the owner has been after removal for quite a while.
  7. I bet the LA tree officer can, let them know.
  8. I think I know that tree, in the grounds of a thatched cottage if I'm right.
  9. & can always end up like this, bless his cold, & bless his muddy hands! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgLy2PAJRiQ]David Bowie - Please, Mr. Gravedigger - YouTube[/ame]
  10. But then, it could have been like this.. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fMnF0Fvdpo]Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen - YouTube[/ame]
  11. Here is one I love to hear, best when you are well chilled & in touch with old memories & good thoughts. With a tinge of regret & loss, just maybe that's what fond memories are made from.. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYcyKZOUsWs]Leonard Cohen : Alexandra Leaving - YouTube[/ame]
  12. On the old cut, as he has not disturbed the occlusion growth I don't see a problem, where he is disturbing the cambium & bark on the trunk carving it's another matter imo.
  13. Nice one! watch your back though!
  14. Taken a few paving jobs recently, don't much like doing it as it kills my bad knee pointing it all up, but things are picking up a bit in the trees again. I am fortunate in as much as I am kitted up to do various types of work, it is great to get the digger out of retirement, hasn't been used since last year!
  15. Nope, I don't wear one, I can guess the time mostly within half an hour of what it is, oh the skills you get with age!
  16. I am inclined to agree, in a condensed format it might well be worth considering. I have shovelled old chip about, turned my heaps with my digger, etc. so far no real problems, but good straightforward info on the subject could be a good thing imo. Also a thank you to the op.
  17. Me too, this thread is a good heads up to those not aware of the risks.
  18. Big tree for sure, I would have gone for dismantle rather than fell too. You did well!
  19. Sometimes you don't know your doing something you don't want to do until you've done it...
  20. That looks like a fun performance!
  21. The oiling system is sensitive,& could do with an adjuster, but I keep mine clean & it has been ok in the main. Fantastic little saw when used for its intended purpose.

    Any Arbpoets

I love reading other peoples work, & there is some on here that I cant help relating to, so a big thanks from me! My writing is off at a friends place at the moment, hence I have not put much up,but will put this right over the next week. Glad I started this thread, there are some funny & some heartfelt works coming out of the woodwork!
  23. Matt, That is a broad spectrum of bikers there, unusual to see, that shows respect to your lost friend .
  24. It's a joke, we don't use spikes for pruning work here (uk), only take downs.
  25. Nice work Steve, that pointed the tree in the right direction for the future, as has been said.
