  1. & can always end up like this, bless his cold, & bless his muddy hands! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgLy2PAJRiQ]David Bowie - Please, Mr. Gravedigger - YouTube[/ame]
  2. But then, it could have been like this.. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fMnF0Fvdpo]Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen - YouTube[/ame]
  3. Here is one I love to hear, best when you are well chilled & in touch with old memories & good thoughts. With a tinge of regret & loss, just maybe that's what fond memories are made from.. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYcyKZOUsWs]Leonard Cohen : Alexandra Leaving - YouTube[/ame]
  4. On the old cut, as he has not disturbed the occlusion growth I don't see a problem, where he is disturbing the cambium & bark on the trunk carving it's another matter imo.
  5. Nice one! watch your back though!
  6. Taken a few paving jobs recently, don't much like doing it as it kills my bad knee pointing it all up, but things are picking up a bit in the trees again. I am fortunate in as much as I am kitted up to do various types of work, it is great to get the digger out of retirement, hasn't been used since last year!
  7. Nope, I don't wear one, I can guess the time mostly within half an hour of what it is, oh the skills you get with age!
  8. I am inclined to agree, in a condensed format it might well be worth considering. I have shovelled old chip about, turned my heaps with my digger, etc. so far no real problems, but good straightforward info on the subject could be a good thing imo. Also a thank you to the op.
  9. Me too, this thread is a good heads up to those not aware of the risks.
  10. Big tree for sure, I would have gone for dismantle rather than fell too. You did well!
  11. Sometimes you don't know your doing something you don't want to do until you've done it...
  12. That looks like a fun performance!
  13. The oiling system is sensitive,& could do with an adjuster, but I keep mine clean & it has been ok in the main. Fantastic little saw when used for its intended purpose.

I love reading other peoples work, & there is some on here that I cant help relating to, so a big thanks from me! My writing is off at a friends place at the moment, hence I have not put much up,but will put this right over the next week. Glad I started this thread, there are some funny & some heartfelt works coming out of the woodwork!
  15. Matt, That is a broad spectrum of bikers there, unusual to see, that shows respect to your lost friend .
  16. It's a joke, we don't use spikes for pruning work here (uk), only take downs.
  17. Nice work Steve, that pointed the tree in the right direction for the future, as has been said.

There you go I fixed it for you!
  23. I do a bit of writing from time to time, keep it to myself mostly. But why? So lets see yours! I wrote this tonight, as a message to someone I love desperately, miss: We parted, Then I found myself in a wood, With the damp bluebells, The trees looked down upon my plight, Whilst seemingly closing their great trunks in your wake. The bluebells are wilted & gone now, The light here has turned green, Under the shooting leaves of this years abundance, With little to show come the autumn, But for the pride of a freshly dropped crispy gold blanket. I can close my eyes now, Only to listen, & smell. I can describe in abstract my position, Whilst waiting in hope for you to walk towards me, through the trees. Just as the last of the squirrels looks round & then hibernates. X
  24. Doesn't look to pricey either.
  25. Never heard that from the local provider before, check it out if I were you.
