  1. Earlier post, that I consider worth a read, including link.
  2. Some of the old saws, same as some old cars, would run on porridge, (low compression), modern saws are a different kettle of fish, & do require a better fuel. Pump fuel does turn within a month or two, it is absorbing water via the ethanol all the time. the ethanol is also slowly destroying the carb rubbers & other 'soft parts'. We are breathing in the ethanol & benzene ( amongst other additives) as a two stroke is not burning all the fuel, so long term both machine & operator will be suffering, do some research. There is no disputing these facts, just some decide that the price of the fuel is more than they are prepared to pay, or they find dealers too far away. For me, it's a no brainer, I want to keep my machines hassle free, & improve my chances of not having long term health problems associated with long term petrochemical exposure. There have been extensive reports from professional bodies on the last point, I myself posted one such some time ago. Quite how anyone would argue against the validity of Aspen is beyond common sense.
  3. Wait till you try one that has had the exhaust drilled, it goes much better, picks up the revs cleaner & has more power.
  4. If you cant feel your toes it's either inflexibility, bad circulation, or you forgot to take your gloves off!
  5. I just hope so much you get a good end result out of this, heart wrenching indeed.
  6. Used one of the early ones a lot, was it the t595 speed triple, yep it was. Fantastic bikes!
  7. Superb mate!
  8. Sounds like you had a good time mate, must get myself entered into an endurance comp, I did a nice gentle loop of the Essex Byways yesterday, so no aches for me! 002 by geoff321, on Flickr
  9. They look a fun machine!
  10. I'm with Huck on this, intricate things are shoulders, & I would want to exhaust all non invasive options before going under the knife.
  11. Found an old pic of my cr500, I'm lusting after another one of these, but they seem to be fetching strong prices nowadays.
  12. My mate has a bonnie, its a nice bike, his one is basic & not blinged up & makes a really nice easy fun bike to ride.
  13. Silky is just jealous, he will be looking for a good tripod now with urgency! Like a lot of us he is a bit of a 'kit tart'!
  14. Should be ok if you keep the revs in the middle of the range, ifyour concerned get some exhaust flexi pipe & extend it upwards to clear the surface. Be careful not to let water in the air intake & electrics, muddy water plays havoc with alternators etc.
  15. Eddy T is an anagram for Teddy, in real life he is a big soft hairy thing with chewed ears!
  16. Hedgesparrow is realy a forkfinch!
  17. Top work! What a fantastic idea!
  18. Thanks a million mate, got your pm, & returned one.
  19. Sounds like you had a faulty part, hope it works out for you. The plastics are very thin on these saws, & require care in handling.
  20. How did that happen? Mine has not been babied, but seems fine.
  21. I did this too mate, thanks for the pic, made a lot of difference to how the saw runs.
  22. That's no worries mate, let me know the cost, & pm me your details so I can sort out my bit!
  23. Hey mate, that's a first, we agree on something! Looks like the chip will be early / mid next week now, but there is a job going on this week not too far off, have a word with our mutual friend, the little whirling dervish.
  24. & I'm not your Doris!
