  1. As I said on the 'makita thread',I have used one & it was a good quality saw,so now we have 2 known good options here, sure there are others too,the small stihl would be a nice saw I would imagine as well. I realy hope for some input from the 'non believers' here, thats what I want to get going alongside good options on the kit. Come on you heavy handed heathens, you know you want to be converted!
  2. Thats my way of thinking too,get the 020 carb,(it gets rid of the piston pump problem),its a straight fit, just a bit of an angle to get to the H or L screw through the 200t rubber shield, but not a prob. Either that or get the 200t carb & if you get grief from it in the future,do the carb mod to blank off the piston pump, easy ten minute top whack fix.
  3. Here is a good quality 26cc saw from echo,Its the one I have had for a few years, only part so far was a brake band that broke one time. Other than that it has slogged its guts out on jobs often involving a lot larger diameter wood than it is designed for,(sectioning out limbs to say 8 inch when Iv'e decided it a hazard limb whilst undertaking a light reduction for example). Echo CS-260TES Top Handle Chainsaw
  4. Sounds like a good idea,I've never visited, which at my age is a crime! It's one of those things I need a 'kick start' on,I love my photography as a hobby,& Kew offers so much to us arbs. I could blatt down there on me bike,so no excuses realy for not visiting!
  5. I was on that thread too mate, its what prompted me to start this one,it's been in my mind to for a while,& I realy think it could be usefull for this to be got out in one place,a good quality small top saw is in my mind worthwhile. Born2Trot,thanks, its the good quality saws in this category that I'm aiming at here.
  6. You realy need to keep a fresh disc in your tardis tacho Mark, your all over the place on this thread!
  7. Ok,maybe I should have run a poll, but dipping a toe in the water instead. So I use a small echo top handle saw,& have used the Makita version,I find old bones benefit from the lower weight & vibes from these 'tiny toppers',my main questions would be for those,(the majority),that do not use one. Have you tried them? Why would you not have one? Have you considered one in the first place? Seems like a few of us do find them a viable asset to have along side the proverbial 200t, mainly for reduction work & a bit of conny hedging, personaly I would not be without mine on some jobs,it just makes things so much more efficient.

    Makita saws

They get good feedback from those that have them,I'm keen on echo products myself, but I supose its all about spares backup in the short & long term that concerns a lot of prospective users. Big J,I have used the little topper too, great little saw for what you say!
  9. I have 2 of these,I love giving them a run.
  10. Some realy nice shots coming up here Silky.
  11. Tough luck mate, always bad to hear about these thefts.
  12. That about sums up the strength of torque in these engines.
  13. OOps,hope Felix isn't looking in here! It was a fascinating event,(the storm),lots of the trees where I was that survived have a lean on them where they partialy turned their roots, mainly scots pine & a few ash. A long row of bat willows were all but over, exposing the root & soil,I winched them up & propped them,& they mostly got themselves stable again.
  14. I was in a caravan in essex when that storm came in,it destroyed the van,& I roughed it out in my landy, trees falling all over the place. Come daylight it was carnage,& I found one of those blowup rubber doll things in distress in the debris,I think it had done a 'mary poppins' from chelmsford to maldon,so I shot it in the gob (with my four-ten before you all start),& got to work logging up!
  15. Got an 06 200t that I forgot I had until last year, only had a few tank fulls through it,Spud stroked its ports & now its my favourite saw.
  16. Chuck that lump in a mog,now were getting there!
  17. Lovely engine, liable to chew the trans & axles with heavy use I would think!
  18. David!...you wouldn't be hinting that Dean has achieved a lowly pinacle surely.. I would imagine it was at least 30feet. But he felled it!
  19. Nice work indeed,I would imagine elm to be a great choice for the seat of the chair.
  20. Nice lines--nice work!
  21. Great pic Apbell!
  22. Heres a funky vid,I kind of like it!
  23. I got some looks & everyone asked the same bl#%dy question,'what happened to your nose'? So I amused myself thinking up silly answers, best one for me was 'well I was cleaning the toilet with a brush after my wife used it & the lid came down on it', that got an ooh realy?
  24. Crisp sounding saw there!
