  1. Good I am glad it has found its final resting place .R.I.P May the sun come out and shine down on us tommrow. Huggs to all . Littletree
  2. Well I got myslfe into a situation that I did not really want to be in and made a silly mistake . It was not though greed or anything else .If it had of been I would Not of told the person I was working for stright away there and then what had happened I would of kept quiet and No one would of been the wiser. I am allways compleatly stright with anyone I deal with in life sadly we are human and sometimes make mistakes . Littletree
  3. I would like to clear this up . I was working for Rapidlee today as a groundy and the lady we were working for was elderly she had a chat with me over a cuppa as they do and asked me about what I do and I told her that I do gardening and tree ground work as a self employed person . She asked me for my number as she might like to use me for a bit of gardening sometime . to start with I said no I could not give it I did not want to take any work away from the person I was working for . she said she would really like to have it so I gave it to her . When my boss returned I told him exactly what happened as I did not want to hide anything from him and explained that If any work came of the I would hand it over to him and said I was sorry for the mistake I had made Littletree
  4. Its becoming more common . People just dont want to part with there money and will try to find all sorts of ways to get suff done for nothing . Littletree
  5. Good luck and go for it . Change course ,there is nothing keeping you on your current course if you don't want to be there !! . Go for a level 2 cert in Arb or the equivalent there is plenty of full time courses to get your teeth wedged into . or try the Apprenticeship route . At your age is the best time to do your arb courses as most will be free for you at your local collage . This is the perfect time of your life to start this It will be the best choice you ever make . All the best Littletree:thumbup:
  6. O my I thought I had the answer to this in the bag ,this bag of chips gets more complicated as it gos on . I reckon the cops would also be a bit confused by old new license and tug, load weights .unless its traffic cops Littletree:001_smile:
  7. Thanks that shads the light on it . So the transit empty and the chiper would be 3.5 ton combined . Not sure what you would get if you got caught with some chips on as well as the chipper ? as it seems to be happening all the in our industry as by the end of the day the chips are in and the lads are pedal to the metal and its off to the tip to shad the load Littletree
  8. Well thats interesting as I believed you could tow a Timber 150 on a transit on the new license as the max tow weight is 750 kg, the timber wolf is 730kg . I know all the lads I have been working with over the last months most of them are on the new licenses tow the timer 150s with chips on a transit . I did go into this with the boss and it seemed they could tow them nothing was raised over the chip weight in the transit at the end of the day I did not think of that bit of it . I have very little understanding of this but I would of thought that the chips are not part of the tow weight as they are in the transit itself not on a trailer.I know on the new license I believe you can drive up to 3.5 ton van so would I would think it depends how heavy the transit is with chips in total. There will be others reading these posts that may be able to answer these questions with a better understanding of the rules as I also would also like to know these answers too. it all seems to be a gray area. 9. Depends on who you take the course with . If its a private operator then most of the time you will provide all the PPE and saw and same for the day of the test but you will be told this before you pay for your course so you know what the score is . If your on a longer collage course then I think they will help you and provide kit on your course and for your test . I did mine through a private opperator and provided all my stuff .but most are helpfull and if there is a problem they will do there best to help you with kit if they can . If you are going to buy a saw if you can go for new then its better in the long run . as you know its history and can look after it from the start. Littletree.
  10. Yep I have got loads of them and a I am a girl too. arms, legs , back and they are growing by the year but not my hands and face. I will not be going there with them . In Tree work I have had no problems so far I sometimes get some intesting looks and smiles when my little jumper comes flying off for the start of the day and they are all reveled underneath. In other industries I have worked I have had a few problmes . One place I was working they wanted me to were long sleeves . but when I saw the other men with tats wereing short sleeves I not a chance as If I was going to have to have long sleeves then so will the chaps too that have tats. The rule was never changed and my short sleeves stayed short. Littletree:thumbup:

  17. HI Guys Well I am 38 and female and just recently started all the climbing and side of it . I whish I had started it 10 years back but really lucky that I am fit and able I love every minut of it swining round the trees . I hope to be still at it when I am 50 . working in this indurstry is the best thing I have ever done . Better late then never Littletree
  18. Hi Lads that are doing your pole climbing try not to worry . I love pole climbing and so will you to soon in a short time . A few tips to help you get off to a good start . Have a look at the spikes and check they are nice and sharp if not give them a bit of a file with a flat file that will help them enter the pole better. Make sure you do them up really tight if take a couple of steps to check as if they are loose you are more lightly to slip Take one foot at a time and make sure its stuck into the wood before moving up with the next foot and the same for each movement . It does not matter if it takes time the assor will not mind . this way you can be sure not to slip the faster you try and move the more lightly you are to slip. if one foot does slip as long as the other foot is in OK you will be able to stand up on the one spike and reajust the other one then continue . Don't try to hug the pole this will make you more lightly to slip down as you need lean out on the strop just a little this will help you get a good stable position . Use a stiff wire core strop this helps alot as its easier to move up the pole freely. the more flexable the strop is the harder it is to move it up . Take your time and think about each move and you will fine . you only slip if you rush it good luck and dont worry All the best Littletree
  19. HI the course is 5 days long including the assessment . The cost was £670 but this will vary depending on training center but this is average . I did mine as wanted to add another string to my bow to give me extra opportunities with the hope of some extra sub work every now and then . It can be used for things like shrub clearance cliff clearance but there are many different types of work rope access is used in . Having the chainsaw tickets is helpful as it gives you a skill with your level one Littletree:thumbup:
  20. Thanks guys thats nice to know as I think it would really help me generate more customers . Out of interest what burshcutter do you use ? I was thinking of getting a husky Littletree:thumbup:
  21. Hi guys do you get many requests for burshcutting /strimming work in the summer months ?? . Is there much of this work around for those of you that use brushcutters ?? I have a brushcutter ticket and am thinking of buying one to add to the list of services that I provide to help me generate more business . Thanks Littletree:thumbup:
  22. Most will just ask you for a trial and thats the interview itself they can see within a few mins how you are going to be . . I did go for an interview the other day for a larger company . i had come stright off the tools with no time to clean up so it was full PPE and Muddy hands and woodchips the lot . Well in my book at least like this they can see you are serious and happy to graft and dont mind getting dirty and down to buisness. Littletree:thumbup:
  23. This seems to be how it works or as far as I have looked into it to be able to get on a course with no sponsor of my own to start with . I would imagine that the training centers get there cut through you doing your training with them . Littletree.

    Boots

Hi there Hiax Protector light are the best boots going for climbing and grounding I would never have anything else . They cost 150 money well spent . good idear to try them on first as every pair of feet is different so you can then get the correct size to fit you. best tip to keep them water tight is by using Kikwax on them and your feet will stay dry I have never looked back . Littletree:thumbup:
  25. Hi there CS39 is the best one I have done yet it was great fun and the assessor was great. There is less questions then for 38 . just get good work position nice climbing good cuts and 2 hands on saw and rember and chainbrake and its happy days . Littletree:thumbup:
