This is the best move I have ever made .now I get paid for doing something I really love its the best feeling in the world . . I have been a on a chipper/ and brash cutting up with the saw for the last 3 days and loved every minute of it . It was just great fun and the boss was really nice to . Next week I am doing Clarence work on the Motorways so that will be great fun I even got to ride to site and back on a Quad bike looking over the sea how Cool is that I could not believe my luck . . Thanks Littletree
  2. So pleased for you too that great news. I think the hardest part is getting the first go in but then after that when you finaly get a day or to and they see you are goood and really work very hard i think it gets better as they will want you back again . Littletree:thumbup:
  3. Hi all So Many thanks to everyone that has been giving me help and advice and contacts to help me gain some work . This week it all come together . This week I have been at my first job with a tree surgery company . It has been amazing ,the lads that I have working with have been great ,a real pleasant bunch to be with . I am off again tom for another day and another place . Next Week I am off to do Clarence work looking forward to it as it will be different again to what I have done the last few days so will see all different types of work in Arb. As the rain came pelting down in on top of me then all the way through till it could get in no further in . I just laughed to myself and with a big smile on my face and said Its the Best job going . I should of started down this path many years ago but better late then never. bring it on birng it on  Littletree:001_smile:
  4. Hi I am a fan of Hiax too they are comfy to ware all day and good for climbing. I would get the same again . The only downside is they let water go though a couple of dew filled fields and your feet are soaked even with a good dose of polish each day . Littletree:001_smile:
  5. Hi I will give this a go as have very poor circulation in my hand and feet all the time and I tired all the recomened things and nothing has ever worked so will give this ago . Will let you know how I get on .
  6. Well many thanks thats cleared that up . I am quite surprised the markings are there for it ..
  7. Hi guys this may sound a silly question but I am having difficulty switching on the handle heating . on my 361 In the manual its says move switch on front handle to 1 and move back to 0 to turn it off . There seems to be no visible signs to be able to turn it on or off as its just marked on the plastic with the 1 and 0 positions . I notice just below this place where it is is a little bit of square plastic that could be taken out with a thin lever . There is nothing about removing this bit of plastic in the manual to get to the switch Is the switch it under the square ?? Thanks Littletree
  8. Excellent stuff thats real good grafting Well done
  9. I totaly agree they are all pants. I went overdrawn by £3.82 and got stung with a £27 pound charge and they wont wave it Thats LLoyds for you . These charges are in my view way unfiair and set to high for the amount into the red .. Has anyone been able to get there unfaire bank charges back ? if so how did you do it .? Littletree
  10. HI there from the moment I picked up my chainsaw and made my first ever cut . I decided this is what I wanted to do for the rest of working life. I decided I would do what ever it takes . . I have taken every chance to cross cut , fell trees and split firewood and everything else to be able to gain exp and do my Tickets . I have volunteered my sox off driven round the country of miles on end just to turn my saw on and gain exp without any other gain from it and at full cost to myself . I have come from a care work background so this is completely different to world of Arb. I have had to start from scratch with very little It still will take years for me to gain the working experience and the knowledge of others to get good at it but I will do it ,and in the end it will all pay off If you are starting from scratch you will need these things . Shear determination and a will to succeed beyond anything else . To begin with you may be seen as a joke but keep at it and that stage soon passes . You will need to be prepaid to graft till your sox fall off doing all the rubbish jobs .Do it well with a smile on your face and it will pay you dividends long term. If you really want to do this Go for it with 100% and it will be the best move you ever make . All the best Karen
  11. Hi and Welcome home .I wish you all the best . If you can get your CS31 it will be the best thing you can do as it will open you up to so much more avenues to you with employment . Good luck Eastwater:biggrin:
  12. I will keep going and work my sox off at it . I really want to do well I want to get 38/39 under my saddle . Sadly I have not seen a penny funding so far I have gone down all the paths to find it but no luck as yet . When I get a job with a company soon it will all be so so worth it as this is what I want to do with the rest of my life . . Thanks Karen

    gloves

Hi guys I have the perfect ones for you . I use Timberland Pro serises gloves I love them they are brill for climbing you can feel through them and great for every thing else they dry quickly when wet and don't feel cloggy when wet like the normal chain saw gloves. I get them on Ebay for 11.99 . enter Timberland gloves and they will come up you can also get them in Carrs in Bristol . Now for the sizing a 9 is a large and I take these .so for you guys you would need to go for the size 10 and above as the large come out smaller then you would think . hope this helps Eastwater:biggrin:
  14. Yes it does seem that different instructors do different things both were very different in there teaching style but the felling cuts taught were similar . The last instructor was just brilliant he had a real nice way with him he was able to help me to lean and gave really good encouragement as I went along , you could tell he really enjoyed what he does for living and had a smile on his face ,this makes a very big difference when the person is training you new skills . He showed me a new way of holding my saw to get a better split level as I was having big problems with it . I took down a big ,thick, bushy , hairy Lelandi today . I did the split level as it was a backward leaner it worked and went the right way so really pleased good old split level
  15. Thats really cool well done its a lovly feeling for days after . I am also doing my 38 in Jan so I had better start leaning the assessment schedual now . karen
  16. Hi I believe the change over happens in Jan for anyone taking the test after then but I may be wrong . It went OK . It did take me a good old long time to do it . I did not rush and made every move very carefully so the examiner could see everything I doing in sequence . .First I had to hang up the tree with a straight fell that went well and I landed it where it needed to go . Getting it down went great I had to sever some of the hinge and then roll it out . then snedd and cut to size . The next cut was was a slit level cut this was scary bit as its not my strong point and I was worried. The assor was great about it and put me at ease.. After spending some time eying up my tree I set to it and it turned out OK not perfect by any means but OK for the test so was really pleased that both cuts were now done and out of the way . Then it was more snedding and crosscutting and boy there was plenty of it on these trees I really enjoy snedding so that part was good fun . . The questions were asked as we went along so that made it easier as it related to each task . I would say the CS31 is a nicer test to do then 30 as there are less questions its more of a doing test they want to see you are safe with your saw on any given site and can do the felling cuts OK . Karen
  17. It must be very difficult but for you being young its hard sometimes to stand up for yourself this guy knows this and is taking advantage of you in a big way . The receipts would be as the other posters said to do with self assessment and Tax . Don't work for him anymore he is a bad apple in the basket he us using you to suit his own ends as and when he feels like it . The words( Get lost and don't contact me again) are appropriate for the likes of he . If he continues the threats then fight with Fire or get someone bigger then you to do it for you .. You will find a good company and nice lads to work with soon . All the best Eastwater
  18. Really sorry to hear that news ,so pleased they did not get away with anything . Trash will go to any lenghts to take what they have not worked or paid for. Eastwater.
  19. Very nice cut to I am going to keep working and working on mne as want to get them realy good . Is that a scotch pine ?. one of the sites where I go its all pines really nice to fell just lush down in seconds and not to much snedding. lovley cross cutting . Eastwater:biggrin:

  21. I have just done my felling training and we were taught the split level , dogs tooth and standard stright fell. we were also shown a letter box cut just for reference sake . We were taught to cut very very low to the ground but I personal preference I like cutting just above the butts much eaiser on the back . Eastwater.
  22. Hi I did get a nice shiny new 361 . its a really lovly saw ,really pleased I went for that one much more power . it works all day without complaining chomping through the wood . I have 2 differnt bar lenghts for different jobs . Thanks eastwater
  23. Hi there I know what you mean its CS30/31 combined a very short course to to gain the level expected on the test you have in effect 5 days to lean master and refine all the maintance and felling cuts . I did my first course combined but did not book the 30 test till a couple of monts later giving me time to really learn and pratice the maintance side and lean all the questions . After taking the CS30 test I then concentrated on the felling side and did as much felling as I could in the monts after then I just did a second course just for the 31 part and the 31 test stright after . The second course really helped me refine the basic skills I leaned in the fist course after I had worked been practising on the felling side . Had I of taken my tests stright after my first course I would of never made it but I am not a fast learner. Eastwater:biggrin:
  24. Hi Guys I have such good news. I passed my CS31 today so am really really happy as I have been working so hard towards getting it. it took 2 courses and many hours of pratice to get it. I was so worried this morning as had been having real big problems with my split level cut for months I could not get the hang of it and that was the cut I had to do i spent ages and agaes doing it and I manged to do it within the margins The assor was really nice I had the same one for my CS30 so that was good. Now I will have to start learning up my next assesment schedual . Cool thought you would all like to know . Eastwater:biggrin:
  25. HI I have been doing ebay for ages never had this problem up till 3 weeks ago . I sold a few T shirts and all the buyers paid no problmes apart for one . It was only for 1 pound but still they won the bid and have not paid . I have contacted them twice and nothing yet back . I looked back at there feedback and I can see they have been bying and selling since so the next stage is to raise it with ebay . they should start there procedures for non payers after 3 weeks has gone by from the time of sale . The buyer i belive has up to 3 weeks to make a payment for the item . definatly contact ebay and get them to persue it for you . Good luck Eastwater.
