  1. I can't be the only one thinking that if you get done for speeding in a 30 then your observational skills NEED to be improved??? Unless it was an unmarked police car that stopped you, it goes to show that you were not paying enough attention to the road ahead.
  2. Selfish mare! Make sure she at least makes your packed lunch before she gets in the ambulance... Hope everything goes smoothly for her.

    Boredom Tax?

What? People are actually discussing subjects directly related to the forum they're posting in??? That's outrageous. How very dare they!
  4. It's hard to tell from that pic, but it could be Chondrostereum - Silver leaf. It's more common on Rosacea species but it has a wide range of hosts.
  5. Ooooh, sensitive
  6. Beautiful pics. Mornings like that are so pretty and make you really glad to be outside
  7. Surely that's a legitimate tax deductable if you want to pay out the £90 odd?
  8. Was that a back cut in the main pole while you were still roped in above it I spied??? Nice set of pics. It's good to see that us oldies can still climb, but we are sensible enough to choose not too
  9. I thought this may interest some of you: The Ancient Trees of Great Britain: Talks and Courses at Kew and Wakehurst
  10. The way that I read it (or skimmed it, more to the point) is that the self employed come under the "exemptions", but it doesn't go on to say what the law is for them. Hm, I might have to google this one.
  11. Go to the paperclip (attachments) and click to bring up another window. Click "browse" and sort through your files until you get to the pic you want. Double click and repeat the process until you have all the pics you want. Click "upload". If your pics are hi resolution then you may have to wait a while. So twiddle your thumbs for a bit.... Preview and post. Kinda like what Skyhuck posted ;-) Et voila!
  12. A little lite bedtime reading if you're bored of the Mills and Boon: Rest breaks : Directgov - Employment (not that anyone actually adheres to it!)
  13. Now why on earth would we make jokes about Ramsbottom...?
  14. A lot depends who you are going to be working for. I've done exactly 7.5pd working for a LA (that's hours spent at work, not actual work...!) and then 12+pd during the summer when subbying. Do you intend to be self employed / sole trade or PAYE?
  15. Where do you want to send your pics to - to one of your albums on your profile page or do you want to add them to a post?
  16. I've been meaning to get my own copy of Stratagies for literally years, but never seem to get around to it! The other book looks pretty good. The contributors list looks impressive and it seems to collate a lot of info into just the one tome. Be sure to give us an update when you have ploughed through a few chapters What's the Myerscough online resourse like for arb related reading?
  17. How would my untrained eye distinguish that from Armillaria in that piccy ? It's getting bad when even the "common" ones are misidentified...
  18. Love the snow scenes in b&w. It works really well and adds such a sense of drama to the pics
  19. My brother races with these: Track n Trail - Enduro race events organiser Sorry, I can't be any more help than that giving you the link - there's not enough fairing involved for my tastes! Enjoy.
  20. I guessed you were . The cost for even basic survey kit can be quite frightening, especially when you have to start from scratch and you don't have a client base to speak of. The amount of freelance surveying that I undertake doesn't warrant a large financial outlay, but that doesn't stop me WANTING all the shiny hi tech gizmos that you mention At some point the line has to be drawn between want and need. And experience and knowledge is the key factor to whatever kit you choose to use.
  21. This may be of some help (if you haven't looked at it already): Arboriculture | RFS I know the RFS Cert and the AA Tech Cert can be done via distance learning. They are the two mid range quals that I'm au fait with. I would say that the RFS Cert would be a good option for you as your previous Hort qual shows that the theory side should be no problem to you and the practical parts of the Cert can be done on a modular basis. I know that the ISA offers something as well, but I don't know much about it
  22. For your, ahem, cough, daughter, huh? Sure you're planning a bit of a makeover for the truck Al?
  23. Cornus mas then? (slight hint of grasping at straws sneaking in here). That's definately opposite and it ticks all of your other ident' features. Although at this time of year they are easy to spot as they are starting to come into flower.
  24. Do I get a gold star, Sir? I've never take much notice of the twigs and buds as the bark and form is so distinctive on the Parrotias. If, er, that's what it is...
  25. It might be tempting when I've seen and done all our beautiful country has to offer. Which will be never ! Plus I'm pale and pasty enough to have to use sunblock all year 'round here; I think I'd fry down in Oz.
