  1. I agree with Tommy, get the shorter one. It can be a right pain to keep hauling 45m of rope round the tree for rope management purposes. I've got a 25, 37 and 45m ropes but mainly just use the 25m. Climb safely!
  2. Thanks for the feedback so far guys, much appreciated.
  3. Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a new Harness. For the last 7 years I've used a Komet Dragonfly (Rigid seat), and am now looking at the sequioa swing (again rigid seat). Does anyone use one if so what do you think, good points bad points et al... Thanks
  4. Done.
  5. Jdtrees, You shouldn't have fallen 12 foot! What I do is use my climbing line to tie a running bowline around the stem then attach into that as you normally would. Once choked round the stem, at most you'll only drop about a foot if you do gaff out. Take care chap. PS the above in addition to your strop.....
  6. I feed all year round but have gone overboard with all the snow. Loads of birds with the great spotted pecker being a regular. Have just built an all mod cons feeding station from stools and dustbin lids, its a bit Heath Robinson but keeps the food snow free.......
  7. No but if you phone them up, they probably will....
  8. Littlerob, The guy you need to speak to is Robin Taylor. Good bloke with sensible attitude/approach. Call him on 01508 533813. All the best
  9. I would have recommended Eastern Counties Access Solutions just outside Norwich on 01603 735130, but as Waveney are just 10 mins down the road try them first. Good luck
  10. Just had a quick squint and this looks to be a very good document indeed. Shall print off and add to the reading pile. Many thanks for sharing!
  11. I run Norton and I'm getting it too. Something must have recently changed as fine before tonight but now getting pesky.......
  12. Yep I'm in.
  13. Its all well and good having Movember for the blokes but that does leave the ladies out. How about Fanuary for them to take part in?
  14. I use the Timberlands and for the money I find that they are excellent.
  15. I was at a trade show a couple of weeks ago and one of the stands was Stihl. We got chatting and I was saying that the feedback I'd heard was that the 201's were gutless with a number of running issues and the general vibe was not good. The guy I was chatting to Andy from Anglian tool centre said that he thought Stihl was aware and had sorted something out and would get back to me. Well, he spoke to 'Mr Stihl Technical' and they are aware of the negative feedback and since June have upgraded the pot and piston during production in the factory. Now, for those who bought their saw prior to June, if unhappy with it, take it back to your dealer and Stihl will replace the pot and piston free of charge to the newer version. I must confess to having been one of the 'Stihl resting on their laurels and not really looking out for their customers' brigade but this has changed my view entirely. Good effort from Stihl I say.
  16. I've been in A & E 3 times with corneal abrasions so completely and utterly feel empathy for you. The pain is just hideous. I now wear Bolle spider flash all the time as well as using my visor. Not wishing to get into a top trump scenario but...one of the most arse clenching incidents was when the surgeon tidied up the ripped cornea with his scalpel when I hadn't been given a local anesthetic. Not something I would ever recommend!
  17. As others have said, I use a fishermans/scaffold knot. Never had any issues with it.
  18. That is truly good news, so so relieved for you! The CPS aren't always the twits they're portrayed as. PS comments about going further not really helpful.
  19. Easy answer to this one - do your own washing and drying then a mistake will never occur.........
  20. I prolapsed one disc and the other was protruding last year and I was well and truly stuffed. That said, 'Treat your own back' by Mckenzie and Pilates now mean I am back climbing every day. I can't really suss out the Pilates as you think 'How can these small easy movements be so effective', but they are. I thought my climbing career was over but actually now feel my back is as good if not better than before (the odd niggle here and there apart). Mr Logbaron - everyone can tell atale about a bad back but when you've stuffed it through prolapse you well and truly know so. Don't lose hope and try to keep moving as much as you can even if its only a little bit each time. Mr and Mrs both try to be positive and work through this together.
  21. Another option (though timely) is to cut vertically down through the stump in say two or three sections, then cut horizontally as normal. That way you are reducing the size and therefore weight of each section so less chance of the saw nipping up. Good luck
  22. I've got a pair of Berhaus Gortex ones and as said before they have a two way zip up to the thigh and are robust. When they eventually give out I'll definitely get another pair. Go for it.
  23. Damn fine effort there James!
  24. Good advice there Marc!
