    Smokers.

Strangely enough, I was planning on getting one this weekend. I've smoked for 30 odd years and don't want to anymore. It kills you, makes you stink and costs alot of money, where's the sense in that? My brother smoked for 35 odd years and he's completely quit using one.
  2. I dunno but reckon you should call ghostbusters....
  3. A pantin combined with a hand ascender will make life a lot easier.
  4. We've got a guy who's at college coming along for work experience currently. Knowing that he's watching me closely has made me realise how often I go to use the saw with just one hand it to get that bit off. I now realise that I do it more than I would previously have told you I do....
  5. I reckon you can't beat a game of pin ball myself.
  6. Very fair and good post Andy.
  7. Straight blade here, as already mentioned its much easier to get accurate cuts especially coppicing or pollarding. Silky Gomtara 300mm spot on
  8. Well done mate, excellent!!
  9. What a cracking gift. I'd be very pleased to receive that (if my name was Sarah or Al that is).....
  10. Yep Ian, Martin trades as MDH. (Hope all is good with you)
  11. I got my 125 from Martin too, still going strong to this day and NO we don't need/want a motorway.
  12. Check out eastec training and speak to Jane, if she can she'll sort you out.
  13. I would beg to differ. I think regardless of groundy or climber, its all about having respect for each other and realising that a team can only function well if communication is both honest and open. Bear in mind that if the job can't go ahead due to folk not turning up for work, it reflects poorly on the company and may lose you that customer.
  14. He's a lucky guy to have met and married you.

    Books

Anything by Rankin gets my vote. Currently reading Stonemouth by Ian Banks (same guy that wrote the Wasp factory, a disturbing but fascinating read), and so far loving it. You have such empathy/familiar feeling for the characters. I've also enjoyed Harlequin, Heretic, 1346 and the other one in the series by Bernard Cornwell.
  16. We've bought the heavy duty tarps from Allplas.co.uk. we've found them pretty robust and reasonable on price too
  17. Daveindales, Your post may come across a bit full on but, I have to say I'm with you on this one. If you can't afford kids don't have them....
  18. The thing that frustrates the hell out of me is watching the groundy untie the lowering line then frig about doing other stuff while I need the line back to be rigging the next piece. Untie, send the line back up and then sort out the stuff on the ground. If work is done smoothly in a logical order, everone wins.
  19. Last time we did a dismantle in a churchyard, we cut old car tyres in half and placed them over the top of the gravestones to minimise damage in case we had an accident. PS No accidents and no damage - Result!
  20. In all honesty, I doubt there's much to be done about it if he's cutting up deadwood/ripped out branches (whilst also clearing a right of way). If however he is cutting live wood, then that could be deemed as criminal damage. You could give Andy Williams at Norfolk CC a call, he tends to have good relationships with landowners. That said, he's probably running around like the proverbial blue arsed fly and may not have much (if any) time to dedicate to it.
  21. Flippin heck Bob, I haven't heard that in a year or 30...... Just had a right smirk
  22. Mine is a year old and is used every day. I can't fault it.
  23. Yep a fishermans will do the job nicely
