  1. What is it all powered by? (PLEASE tell me there is a huge waterwheel involved somewhere, or at least something involving steam....)
  2. Hama, no-one is saying DONT give advice, 99.9% of your advice is superb, but like many, if not ALL, of us on this forum, there is that 0.1% which may be misguided perhaps. In my case it is probably more like 10% not 0.1%, and (and i am sure i speak for others here) it is never a PERSONAL dig.
  3. There is a slight update here
  4. HOpe he recovers fine. Addenbrooks has an excellent reputation- he is in good hands.
  5. Mine isnt, but i wish it was!!!!
  6. Sorry- didnt answer your second question. I agree with you- a small weight reduction and it would probably be okay for years to come, no need to be overly worried. HOWEVER, I havent seen the tree up close.......
  7. I think you are being a bit touchy Hama. I take it you are referring to the inexperienced guy who wanted advice on getting a hung up tree down- well that was nothing personal, just that I , and as it turned out lots of others, thought that advising him how you did was somewhat irresponsible. As for this thread, again, nothing personal, and actually not even a criticism, just a tongue in cheek remark/ joke, hence the smilies. Huck sumed it up perfectly two posts later.
  8. Hey deni you should get Hama's quote in writing mate- you'll be well covered:sneaky2:

    sharpening

I ALWAYS sharpen a new chain straight from the box.....I wouldnt WANT a 'factory sharp' finish as its not sharp enough.... Quite. I put a new chain on a 390xp running a 28" bar 2 weeks ago, full chisel, and hit an iron bar, making the chain look like a ripping chain...About 15 minutes, ON SITE was all it took to get it flying again. Indeed.
  10. VERY nice piroject all round. You ought to be justifiably very proud of your achievements.
  11. Probably for the best....
  12. TBH it is an impossible question to answer, as there are almost infinite variants- location, experience etc etc. I have to say that your groundy does seem to be asking a little on the high side to say the least.....
  13. Yes i can see them, but at first i missed them, and if your councils reg department are anything like the dept downhere, they will have missed them. The red circle put me off at first. You have to bear in mind that you are dealing with public servant underlings here......I dont mean to sound pedantic, but a recent app I submitted was thrown back at me for far more inane reasons than yours.....eg on the survey of the 28 trees, with a ARCGIS sub metre accurate plan, and detailed descriptions of works, final spreads etc ect, they rejected it because there was now final spread on 6 trees....even though it quite clearly stated that there was no action required on the survey on those trees!!!!!
  14. I think Percentages have gone out of the window with BS3998 2010.
  15. I think that in a way they arent really asking too much....although very nice, your colour plan isnt the clearest, and two red (for example) crosses in the black and white map would be very clear indeed, and the imperial thing, wel in a way that is to be expected. Think yourself lucky.....the council down here wouldnt stoop to be nearly as helpful as your council have been....if it gets stuck in registration you dont get told!!!
  16. And missed you are John. Nice to hear from you, albeit under this thread!!
  17. He must be exhausted at the end of a days climbing after wasting that much energy. Just think, he could get twice as much done for half the energy usage if he didnt fanny around like that. POSSIBLY a good idea, but executed in the most cack handed and backwards fashion imaginable.
  18. Such bad timing for me...it was the day i had to hand the keys back as the lease on the farm ran out. I really wanted to go. I heard very good things about it though.
  19. BFGs are maybe twice the price, but last at least three times the cheaper tyres, so are much more worth it.
  20. Probably, yes, given that it blatantly didnt fail naturally, and the claimant was witnessed doing the damage for which he is claiming!!!!!
