  1. Just sold my Hudson Oscar 36. Excellent machine, FAR cheaper than a mizer, and just as good. I didnt pay for a name though......Far more bang for my buck IMO.
  2.
  3. Metabo is very very good gear.
  4. Mine are usually so knackered that they seem to be hanging off by the time I come to change them anyway:blushing:.......usually about every MOT:lol:
  5. It sounds like a stuck starter solenoid or the starter itself. Whilst trying to start it (kety turned) give it a sharp tap/ hit with a hammer. If this gets it going get it to an auto electrician for a clean or a rebuild.
  6. Is it in the ground or a pot? If in a pot then the roots wil have got very cold too in the snow, which will have affected it even more so.
  7. Do you have 3 phase?
  8. OMG how close was he to losing his left arm....13 secs in!!!!
  9. whereabouts in cornwall are you? i have just sold one of my mills so can keep an eye out for you. I think CTs has some laburnum at the mo.....i have a very nice knot free stick of holly if you like, and I know of a load of yew too. PM me.
  10. They are called planes in the uk and sycs in the US i believe. There are different names for more than one type of timber between us and the U.S, and this obviously extends to tree species too. Either way they are very impressive shots.
  11. Priceless.
  12. You could get intouch with local landscapers and gardeners etc who may come and take loads for a sum you can agree with them. A small ad in the shop window ofering it delivered may come up with the odd bit of beer money. Companies such as Boomeco — Boomeco develops and delivers innovative value added solutions for recovering post-consumer wood and natural resources will buy it off you in bulk, however you will need at least and articulated lorry load for them to come, which if i recall is about 28 cubic metres for them, and hard standing, they prefer concrete, but will inspect non concrete yards and and make you an offer, plus you need to be able to load to (i think they told me) 5.2 metres, i.e the height of the sides of their bulk artic trailer, so a telehandler is a must. You could offer other local tree surgeons free tipping at your yard to help get the amounts you have up to scale if you cannot produce enough yourself, but you would need to ensure that you have jumped through any relevant environment agency hoops. Boomeco arent the only ones who take it- stobarts will and a host of others. Hope this helps. BTW for tree surgery waste a couple of years back, with no sticks or twigs etc in it, boomeco told me they would pay about £10 a tonne.
  13. Ah. Fair play then mate.
  14. Good advice. Besides, at the moment you may be better sticking with what you have instead of risking unemployment- what i mean is unless you have a definite place lined up, do you want to leave your present position.....
  15. You have somehow managed to make your statement sound soooooo wrong Geoff!!!! I never knew fig was a toxic one. Sumach, hogweed etc etc yes, but not fig. One to watch for sure by the sound of things.
  16. Lacewood is stunning, and very stable. Only 2 days ago I was in a house of which the owner had milled his own large tree and even the skirtings were made of it. stunning.
  17. The petzl arborists harnesses are not that dissimilar to rock climbing harnesses anyway.
  18. yeah but Hannah Spearrit and rachel stevens.......not unattractive girls.....
  19. Her you go. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2q3FJTFgtk]S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin (Official Music Video) - Rachel Stevens - YouTube[/ame]
  20. He is never that tall, surely?????
  21. I use the petzl paw when up in the tree (for example) to attach multiple smaller bits to when rigging or speedlining, or as a quick way of balancing branches to come down level etc instead of tying knots like the apline butterly etc. Sometimes a 6 wrap prussic is better to find the balance though as it is adjustable whereas 2 slings and the paw is less adjustable if you see what i mean. Ther are millions of uses though- attaching multiple bits of hardware to the base of a tre in complex rigging ops too if needed etc.
  22. They will be ok. a tiny bit undersized if anything but only by a few mm I think. (I could be wrong there though lol)
  23. My thoughts exactly.
  24. Great work Kim.
