  1. I like the idea but doesn't take visa in uk yet. I was all ready to sign up till I read this.
  2. I use arborisk, £860 this year with lots of cover.
  3. All information and products supplied with course are generally found free of charge, what makes course special? Interested as want to go approved within a year. Sam
  4. Hi Liam, funny I haven't heard of you before since your only a few miles from me, you be right in the middle of farmer territory. I'm on site at 0800h but available most of day as on another site just up road tomorrow if you fancy having a look and a bit of a chat, am meeting someone interested in using it for fencing coming down so may all be gone, but open to highest bidder. Hi nick, there should be plenty going as amount operated on can be changed to maximise return , in answer to your statement I'm in the business of charging for cutting down trees if the client can recuperate some of this from the sale of wood I will facilitate this as much as possible, but I don't guarantee anything and expect the client to take the sale of the wood as nothing other than a little bonus from a job that needed doing anyway.
  5. Was it pruned with consent or pruned before tpo, you should be able to get permission for pruning if beneficial to tree, if the initial pruning has done irreparebale damage to tree then may be cause for remove. In your opinion is the tree liable to failure in the near future or is the school just a reason to apply to remove tree. Could do with a bit more history and possibly photos.
  6. It's sweet, the owner will have it for firewood if no interest but wants to reduce liability of cost if he can, it's very nice wood to so would be a waste just to chip it, some stems are over 60ft high and dead straight. There is also a lot of it at, I reckon 40 tonne.
  7. I have no interest in processing it myself so maybe some one will be interested. If I can't sell it as whole wood for planks etc will there be any interest in biomass chip? Again any prices would be good.
  8. Why do you want a report on it, if she is worried cant she just remove it? Does she need a report for insurance purposes or just justification to remove it? Where abouts in Devon are you I can pop over if I'm that way and let you know what me thinks.
  9. I will be offering for a client some Chesnut all between 20cm and 45cm DBH very straight. Am interested if of any value to anyone and what lengths are needed. All is available roadside am looking really of offers on price per tonne or m3. If anyone is interested or has any useful information please let me know. Cheers
  10. Alder buckthorn. Do you have any pics of flowering or bark. Strawberry trees have larger fruits.
  11. For a job like that, I haven't had a tree like that in the last four years that didn't need rigging due to location. Nice and easy for the right guy, good luck in your search.
  12. I'm sorry to hear they closed it down, 100% behind them.
  13. 5% to joe public but 20% if selling to another business if they have the plan to sell on again.
  14. I would always go for quad for extraction they'll go any where you can skid with them very well or extract with trailer. If your only extracting small amounts each year (I may get some stick for this) but have you considered hiring in dumper, they are very nimble in woods can carry a lot in one hit as long as it is only cut into 4ft lengths and you don't have to store or maintaine it.
  15. Thanks Stephen, it's true that this year has been quite good to me but it comes with accute awareness that it could all end with a drop of the hat. I managed to have a chat with Alex from a.c.price at apf and plan to head up there in next few weeks. I did like look of U20 but did not get price. It's going to be be a funny year for me as I want to go bigger with out loosing the attention to detail or customer service. I personally feel mog will certainly bring in bigger contracts but don't want it sat there while we chuck grass clippings in the back. £20k sounds very cheap considering that's what it would cost for a new 110 or transit tipper arb spec. To Tom D I only really want to operate outside my normal zone and offer smaller companies the chance to run kit I dreamed of when starting up, but hire may be more hassle than it is worth.

  17. The idea behind owning mog is turning 5 trips back to site into 1, having 2 vans and mog instead of 110 tipper, transit tipper and van, public image and expansion into small forestry works. I average 600 miles a week at the moment if I can even half that I'll be happy. I currently have use for tracked chipper and hope mog may be better answer. My current budget is 50k can go more but will mean a lot of extra borrowing so i need to show I can pay for it. One thing I don't want is unrealibility and 10k plus a year in maintence costs. I'm in a position where I can take the business forward in a big way but need to get it right from word go and because of my dithering on progression I am running a very small set up at the moment.

  19. Understand your point, I expect the same when hiring any equipment. Is there any advantage buying a new mog over second hand, btw at this point it would be interesting to find out the pros of buying new vs old. This all needs including in business pan.
