  1. i wonder if the owner of the wall had planning permision to put that sign there !!!! there is no reason why that wall can not be repaired , if the trees were taken down would the wall actually be repaired to its former glory ? or is the wall actually covering up the real issue regarding the trees ?
  2. great stuff will pm you tomorrow when im in the office . Many thanks
  3. interesting Bob , the only splits i have seen on scaffolds like this have either been when they are on the ground or still hung up never seen anythng like this thats still in situ before
  4. hi Steve can i pre order a listing please
  5. not sure what the issue is with retieving a pulley saver but if it helps - with my Art pully saver i use the Art doube snapper for retrieving my pully saver .
  6. Does this really have anything to do with ll of us ??? I would think that anyone involved in this case would not be entring into such converstion on a public forum . The corronors report and findings of the inquest should be thurough enough dont you think ?
  7. such sad news , my thoughts are with the families at this time Please bare in mind that it is possible that someone who knew or was close to the girl/girls family may be reading this thread !!! our thoughts should be of sympathy at this time and not the blame or legal wranglings as to what hapened etc
  8. i personally use a Lock Jack and find it to cope well with sap BUT this is because it is only used with an Art friction saver . im not meaning to sound funny but i would be mindfull that posting threads that may advocate using faulty or condemed for climbing is possibly not such a good idea on a public forum that is used by many people including novices and beginners . sorry im realy not trying to sound awkward in any way
  9. i would keep the spikes , a 30" bar should deal with a fair amount of timber , i know its a pain in the arse cutting from both sides but hey its far cheeper than buying another saw
  10. i used to run my 288xp on a 36" bar , i found it to cut ok but in all honesty i quickly got a smaller bar and bought an ms880 for bigger work - this was 4 years ago , because of giving the saw an easyer time it is still working well to this day .
  11. To be perfectly honest if you can find a way to justify the actions of a highly trained dog handler who not once but twice has allowed dogs to die whilst in his custody and further more try to harm himself as a token effort of remorse then i would put it to you that you are rather blinkered your self . This officer is not an jsut a bloke who left a couple dogs in a car to die (for a second time) this is a highly trined dog and firearms officer who is trained to work under massive levels of stress and is capable of making potentialy life changing decisions under pressure . Not only has the tax payer footed the bill for this officers training but the tax payer has footed the bill for not one but four dogs to be trained/ partialy trained to the cost of a minimum £20,000 per dog only for this officer to leave in a vehicle to slowly and painfully die . tell you what old fruit lets put you in the sort of conditions that these dogs were subjected to and see how you like it !!! im sure there would be at least one person who thought that it was a little cruel dont you think ??? or am i being sentimental again !!!
  12. it makes no difference as to what he was doing , it is simle , two dogs were left in a car with no ventilation or water , i may add that the vehicle was "unmarked" - it was later revield that this vehicle was not a dog van neither was it intended to be used as a patrole vehicle. It is Home Office policy that all dogs shall have access to water and that all ploice vehilces designed to carry dogs shall have a roof mounted air vent, also it is Home Office policy that all working dogs will not be confined in a vehicle for long periods of time. These dogs were not at work and should never have been put in that situation . I would not say that it is a case of sentimentality , it is a case that most people on here know the difference betwene right and wrong .
  13. . i could not agree more
  14. ha ha nope not realy !! i have done it myself and had to live with the quote i gave . trust me you wont do it again
  15. Firsly i will point out that it is an offence to leave any animal locked in a car with no ventilation or water , secondly it is not legal to kill dogs to eat in this country . i personally think that if you can not see that what that police officer did is wrong and you can justify why he did what he did for the second time then you are a complete fool .
  16. Sorry but there is no excuse for doing what this officer did . if indeed this man is involved in the security planning for the olyimpics then i would most certainly question every decision that has been made by him ! Lets be honest if he can not be trusted with two dogs how the hell would anyone trust him to make important decisions ???? As for your statement that "they were only dogs" i would ask you weather you feel that it is acceptable for a growm man to marry a 14 year old girl and father her children ???? . in other countries it is legal BUT ITS NOT LEGAL IN THE UK is it ????
  17. cool i look forward to trying it justin , dont suppose you could get the husky version there as well ? lol
  18. as far as i am aware you may opperte machinery in a residential area from 8am-8pm BUT this is dependant on the noise levells created by the machine - personally we do not work any earlyer than 8 am and finnish by 6 pm ( unless we are on an emergency job ) if the job is an emergency then we tend to carry on cutting but keep chipper use to a minimum .
  19. i never had a problem with my harness slipping down with a saw attached , the problem i did find was that after a while of tensioning and de-tensioning the leg loops the leg loops end up slipping loose while climbing , also i was informed of a LOLER issue caused by the imediate abrasion to the webbing on the leg loops due to the tensioning every time you put the harness on . such a shame this was not resolved by EKN .
  20. maybe the youth should be found and asked if he would like those pictures entered onto the rate my hinge thread lol .
  21. ha ha ha certainly , its the only way to get through boggy areas without betting your boots or trousers dirty lol
  22. that is a fair question Dave , i weigh roughly 101kg , the other two guys weigh 74kg and 81kg
  23. having spoken to Workware uk once again today they have assured me that this is not common and that only 2% of haix boots become faulty !!!!! when asked i was told that they have less than 100 pairs of hax boots returned per year !!!!! . when i asked them why i have had 3 pairs of haix boots worn by three different people all fall apart within weeks of each other was it just me that is un lucky ? their response was to tell me how the boots are not being worn properyl !! and that i must have been one of the unfortunate 2% !!!! I will not be buying any more haix boots . i had been wearing haix boots for the last 9-10 years without a problem but over the last two years i have had nothing but trouble from them .
  24. personally i would look at buying a Stein rigging kit . that way you have an opperational kit. then if you like you can build on that basic kit as much as you like . and all of the components are rated to be used as a kit .
  25. hmmm after watching that i feel tht its a fir bit more involved than i thought . maybe not as good as i thought
