  1. very very good reliable cars , they have a good ground clearence and in comparison to the likes of a volvo cross country or the equivelent audi you will find the subaru very good value for money , i currently have an impreza as a fun car but if i needed a 4x4 estate then i would be jumping at the forrester
  2. ha ha ha thought i would have a look on the way back as i was only in st burryan , lol i was looked at like i was mad when a jumped out of the truck and asked two holidaymakers if they had seen some guys on ride on lawn mowers !!!!! now i feel propper silly
  3. just my luck that im still at work and about to leave the office to go to a fault . do you know roughly what time they will be there till ? failing that how can a make a donation ?
  4. so once again i would have to sent my self
  5. nice loking mog there steve , i am toying with getting my cab welded up and painted but its getting time to be able to spre it at the moment and as winter comes we will only be needing it more . i must say i do like the colour !! Top Job
  6. seeing im only a few miles away can you let me know when they expect to get to lands end and i will be waiting there with a tenner and a beer for them . i take my hat off to anyone who is prepared to do something like then . top men !!!!
  7. yeah i guess so , better still fence the tree off and let is do its own thing . but getting back to the thread - job well done and i still would have climbed it (even at 17 stone)
  8. yeah i guess it could have been retained but to what extent ? i personally could not see it looking all to plesent especially on the grounds of what appears to be a lovely camp site .
  9. hi Jamie , they are some amazing pictures i must say . I did some Geo work down in devon for 4 months back in 2004 and i must admit that although the pay is better i really did not miss going home covered in red sandstone . Just a quick question but in your most recent picture i see your using a shunt on your secondary line , i was told not to use a shunt as they can deform and fail when stress loaded in the event of a main line failure .
  10. yes this is true but still a reduced tree with a decent crown spread would still require more than the 5-7% sound wall thicknes that this tree had .
  11. yeah i would have climbed that , but it sure does put the t~r = 03 equasion to the test and beyond
  12. whats wrong with that ? lol , just thing its now worth £20 more when you sell it . on a serious note it does make you feel sick that they can charge so much for doing nothing
  13. my advice would be to stick with Pimms in a cammel back and not to bother with Gin sun stroke and Gin = a near death feeling
  14. Cheers Stu , i will give them a shout . Im only looking to use it so that i can get my trucks to site this winter , the council dont tend to clear many of the back roads down here , maybe i will have to find a way of putting the snow bach behind us as we go along
  15. why not supply the custome with a short length of rope ? that way once they have paid you they can then thread the piece of rope through the handles on the bag while you drive off at a rate of knotts lol .
  16. i send them via parcel force , normally 3-4 days and they are back
  17. lol as long as i get one to go on the front of my mog
  18. the problem with powerlines is that the phases/ conductors are close enough that a flash over is very posible should a conductor/phase be disrupted/moved by a branch . when we are cutting LV live from a MEWP we are expected to wear a Nomex/fire retardent jacket , Non Nylon gloves and where possible a helmet with polly carbonate face visor because of the risk of a possible flash over . as for extension leads i have never had one in one piece long enough to need it checking they nevr seem to stay in one piece
  19. Good On you , we recently got our third Springer that was kept in a kennel because it was gun shy and no use to the owner , after having her for a week she is still nervous and will not leave my side but has made massive imporvments to then we first got her .
  20. not sure how the gloves will fair with the fire but the book will burn really well lmao
  21. LMAO so im not the only one looking for a snow plough then
  22. LV WILL flash over in certain circumstances and yes if there is a pin hole in the sheath then it is possable to get a shock from it ! An old extension lead would be less of a risk due to its limited AMPs and The Main circuit breaker situated on the consumer unit , the fuses dont blow when you touch them whilst tre cutting instead they cause horrific burns and potential death . I would strongly advise you not post such comments with regards Health and Safety .
  23. i would highly reccomend Saturn Machine Knives , i have only had good results from them and sharening is competetive as well
  24. to be perfectly honest it does not take alot to make sure you satisfy the refresher criteria , yes it is a load or red tape but it is well worth it , things do change - for instance i did not know the chainsaw gloves were not compulsory any more , this may not be of any real importance but there have been changes and there needs to be a record kept to ensure that workers in the industry are keeping up to date . Most of us have something to say when we see poor or sub standard wor carried out by people that dont know any better - this maybe because of changes in Arb since they trained many years ago , most of us would see this as a poor excuse and that is exactly what the HSE would see should they have to investigate an accident where the cause of the accident was a worker who had not been on any refresher and had lost touch with modern safer advances in the industry .
