  1. I will look forward to seeing how they preform for a month or so before getting one , like i said my concerns are the multi function on/off and choke system , any way i will see if i can get to use one tomorrow
  2. personally i think that as much as these kits are expensive how much does a life cost ? . i personally think that it is a must have for any arb team woking an awkward hard to reach areas , for instance - a utilitty team working in a larch plantation 1/2 a mile from the truck or road . As said before it would be much better (and possibly better on the pocket) if it did come in a decent crew/trauma back pack .
  3. i can see that the new combined ON/Off , choke and half choke looks like it will not last long at all in a demanding enviroment , also the front handle is smooth and fells slightly bigger than previous saws . Also it may just be me but with an 18 inch bar it does not feel that well ballenced or comfortable to use for several hours a day . But on the pluss side it does look quite pretty
  4. Glendale took delivery of several today , i had a quick look and to be honest im not as impressed now that i have seen it in the flesh
  5. looking at my choices i think i will go with the Petzel duo 14 , seems to have a powerfull beam as well as decent fllod lighting , i looked at the h14 but i do think that the smart led stuff wont last too long in this trade . but do feel free to correct me guys
  6. i would love too but i aint found a decent andle holder to stick on the front of my helmet that does not get in the way of the visor lol .
  7. hmm now im not sure what to buy - petzel duo14 or the led h14
  8. i have been looking at a few petzel head torches , one is a duo5 and the other is a duo14 , has anyone got any advice on the better petzel head torches ie brightness distance etc etc
  9. Now that the sumer is behind us im now looking for a decent head torch to go an my stein helmet for night time call outs, the last few years every winter i keep saying that i will get a new torch but as yet i have not got one . So guys any advice or oppinions on getting a decent head torch would be greatly appreciated .
  10. not the first and not the last stihl to come out the box with problems !!!! such a shame but this is why i am not keen on buying any this more from stihl
  11. An interested video and good to see but i personally would have used a crane - 2-3 bits and it would have been down and loaded onto a truck
  12. or even Myrtle (Myrtus)
  13. how about a Box hedge - Buxus sempervirens ???
  14. lol best i get listing mine lol , i have 4 to sell
  15. I think this is the case i this country full stop , i recently contacted a unimog dealer to enquire into buying a front mount chipper and trailer for my mog , sadly i am the one having to do all the chasing !!!
  16. Having thought about this some more would it be any use in taking several cross sections of timber fromm affected trees as well as non effected trees from several areas of the country to then compare the samples to see if there is any difference in the characteristicks of the timber ? . Also have you found any differences in the leef and acorn formations etc ? .
  17. this is certainly something that we are not seeing alot of down here in cornwall , our summer down here has been pretty wet and lacking in sunshine.
  18. there is nothing saying that you must have insurance - yes its a good idea but not a must , and who says it was waste ? surely you had a use for it ??
  19. a verball agrement is legally binding , so what if it is only £125 , take them to court and claim the £125 pluss dammages = £400 simples
  20. As said , i would get a solicitor , you would be much better off getting your money with the use of a legal expert rather than losing your money and further facing a charhge of fly-tipping
  21. hiya Mark , surveying basicly envolves folllowing a circuit (powerline) and surveying the trees that are growing within proximity to them , various voltages have various clearences etc , then you liase with the owner of the tree and fill out a permission form to allow the trimming of the tree(s) . pretty strait forward to be honest . payment in most cases it a span rate (pole to pole) and your normally paid for every span on the circuit . Hope this is of help and makes sense (too many margaritas with tea)
  22. guys in all fairness the guy posted some pics of work he had been doing . most of us have been in a similar situation weather it has been working for several years without having the required CS units or dismantling large trees using riging without CS40,41 . Having spoken to the guys at FR jones they quickly made me aware that class one trousers will almost certainly not safeguard you from an accident from the likes of an MS200 , Husky 357 or most of the bigger saws . but still i have not started to wear my class2 stretch air trousers because i still have a bit o life left in my origionall class ones .
  23. It may be a long shot but have you thought about doing something like surveying powerines through winter or even ground work ? yes it means doing your Ua1 and Ua5 but it would be another string to your bow . another idea may be to look into subbing your slef out as a grounds man to tree firms .
  24. I was prety unsure about geting one , especially at 6ft2 and weighing 17.5 stone , i thought that it would not have the suppore and comfort of my skylotec but after adjusting it and constant tweeking for the first couple months i can now honestly say that i will not be using anything elts .
  25. personally i think it is quite funn that these guys could not figure out the simpe principles of leverge - something i wold expect them to use in many many rescue situations and fires . But having said that Where were the Tree Surgeons too ??? nowhere to be seen !!
